This is pretty interesting, and your comparison is awesome! I was worried I'd have to go back and forth when comparing, but you managed to sync up both footages pretty nicely! Thank you!
@Karma's Commentary It would be less hard than making a whole new Mario Kart game with different tracks and gadgets. After all, all they have to do is take old tracks and modernize them.
Imagine an open world Mario game that took place on a big planet, and you could sail around, and explore each island, including all Mario kart tracks, Isle Delfino, Mario 64, ect... Beautiful...
Also, I wonder if that race track would actually be around peaches castle in the open world game? Like , did peach just build a huge race track around her castle after the events of Mario 64? What about her castle from Super Mario Galaxy?? Which castle is her official main castle these days I wonder?
One more thing, but was there actually a shine sprite billboard in the n64 version of the desert track? I didn't know Shine sprites existed before Mario sunshine, so that's cool if so.
If the open world game existed tho, it would be split up into certain areas, Like a Donkey Kong area for all dk maps, a Mario Sunshine area for all beach themed maps, a mushroom kingdom area for all peach castle stuff, and a Yoshi island area for all yoshi stuff. Also a Hell lava area for Bowser, plus an outer space area for the Mario Galaxy main Hub/ rainbow road tracks maybe, so you can see Rosalina.
I love MK64, but 64 fans can't see past the nostalgia that the N64 Rainbow Road is a long, bland, non-detailed, boring track. MK8 in my opinion fixed a lot of the problems that course had.
Teaze Not really most people even me whose first MK was 64 when I was a kid hate it for being a huge empty course, the sights were decent but the course is just too big and tedious to be enjoyable.
It's called expertise my friend. I know I'm good in Mario Kart but I too falter in some courses just like everyone else. There's plenty of people who excessively play Mario Kart to get better and better. I'm not one of them, that's for certain.
Outside of the general driving improvements, the upgrade to retro tracks in Mario Kart 8 was the best thing in the game. And makes me want more retro tracks. Like...every single track. I'd have paid for them through DLC. My reasoning is that they took some levels I really didn't like (Donut Plains 2 and Wario Stadium) and improved the immensely in Mario Kart 8. They didn't just remake them with better graphics but redesigned them entirely around the new driving physics. So now I'd like to see some levels like Peach Garden or Shroom Hill get the same improvement. As well as levels I already liked (Waluigi Pinball please). The only bad change was how they reduced Rainbow Road 64 to one lap. Really should have fixed that in Deluxe.
I haven’t even played some of these games or tracks and I’m inexplicably tearing up... Also, MK DS was my favorite MK game and the graphics look atrocious today. Still love it, though.
Most incredible things about this is the graphics difference between the Wii and Wii U! I know this was recorded on a switch but MK8 and MK8D are graphically identical
Wii was challenging because it didn't involve skill, you could be the best player of all time but the items will find a way to fuck you over no matter what.
ur right, but specifically for warios goldmine, it was really disappointing that the carts dont flip you over the side, you cant sabotage people by knocking them into them, etc
It's so weird, I remember playing Mario Kart on the DS and thinking "THESE GRAPHICS ARE INCREDIBLE" because at the time, they were I thought the same thing when I played Mario Kart 7 on the 3DS And now that I have a Switch, to look back and see how far gaming has come, (and how much attention to detail the devs pay, because come on, it's amazing) it really makes me nostalgic
They are some tracks that are known as other names. Here are some examples: Music Park (from Mario Kart 7) is known as Melody Motorway. Neo Bowser City (from Mario Kart 7) is known as Koopa City Piranha Plant Slide (from Mario Kart 7) is known as Piranha Plant Pipeway
I'm amazed on how I perfectly remember the songs, can almost sing along the melodies, but I had totally lost memory of the tracks. Can't wait to play it again, OLED and my first Switch ordered yesterday.
Foreskin 1.0 Super Circuit's maps had to stay flat because of hardware limitations. The stuff they added in MK8 helps each one have its own identity and keeps them from feeling same-y.
I'm amazed with how much more detailed and modern Tick Tock Clock has become! The GBA tracks as well, it's amazing how they went from flat-out and 2D to 3D with anti gravity and gliding sections!
The only thing I heigth about MK 8 Royal Raceway is that you cant go to Peach's Castle yard, but still there are better graphics in the MK 8 version of the track.
Also, you can't hang a sharp left off the ramp and skip the entire mountain sequence... And come to think of it, you can't use a mushroom to cross the river on the second turn either... Just what kind of gimped version did we get!? lol
My first Mario Kart game is Mario Kart 64. I really love every time i played that game and his tracks, i think the difficulty of Mario Kart was tonned down in the next games
here's my ranking of the hardest MKs 8. Mario Kart 7 Not the most complicated game ever, tracks are fairly big, CPUs kinda suck. 7. Mario Kart 64 Jesus, why are the tracks scaled so *big?* 6. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Despite the fact 200cc exists, the CPUs aren't amazing, because of having 12 characters the road tends to be very wide as well. 5. Mario Kart Super Circuit Tracks are getting a little difficult now... but still easy enough. 4. Mario Kart Wii Chaotic as hell. 3. Mario Kart Double Dash The CPUs are WAY too good even on low cc. 2. Mario Kart DS Shouldn't have to explain this. 1. Super Mario Kart Or this.
I'm playing Mario kart 8 deluxe right now and I love it and I love how much games and technology have improved over time and I can't wait to see them improve even more in the future :D and I also did not know ROB was a playable character
They're not. The clips from the originals in the video are either sped up or slowed down to match the newer versions. Watch the timer for the super mario kart tracks, you can see the footage is slowed by nearly 2 times, and the MK64 clips are sped up a bit too.
I like to think that the retro tracks tell a story. Like countless Toads told them all “Hey, while you guys weren’t using this track we took a few creative liberties!” Or in the case of Donut Plains, “THE BRIDGE IS BROKEN?! They want to use this track and we don’t have time to fix it! I’m sure they’ll enjoy the surprise.” It’s like they’re the same exact tracks but in the future. As opposed to them being recreated.
@@Serious5GamingS5G I was referring to the courses included in the Booster Course Pass, which are just a cheap Tour Copy-paste compared to the ones included in the base game.
They really had to slow down some of the older games' footage so it would run at the same points with the MK8 versions. This isn't at all a bad thing, but they've made those older tracks much bigger.
well they had to make it bigger to fit all 12 characters and if it was still as narrow as they were, it would be impossible to complete with normal driving standards (you know like drifting) but even with the bigger road, it's still difficult
3:04 This was the Nintendo 64 most arduous curve! It had no camber, so you always felt into the grass hole. It was hard to master but really cool when others wanting to get back on the course felt on the other side where there was a river.
Very good video. Gives us exactly what we want. And the synching is so good too. Side note, I'm noticing that while 8 looks nice, it doesn't really match up with the vibrant colors of the older games. Those ones look much more "Mario Kart."
Wow I didn't knew that Mario Kart on SNES was considered so hard. Is the only one that I have ever played a lot, so I can't compare it to the others. I was very good at it. I beat the game many times with Toad.

Bring ROB back as a character... I miss him from DS...
He doesn't he'll use his rocket powered skates
tanooki mario was the dumbest character they added lmao
Idont Know
pink gold Peach was the dumbest character they added
MA3GNetwork rob legs probably
CyberHax Inc you do realize that Cat Peach and Tanooki Mario are DLC right? I do agree that they need to take out some unnecessary characters though.
This is pretty interesting, and your comparison is awesome! I was worried I'd have to go back and forth when comparing, but you managed to sync up both footages pretty nicely! Thank you!
My firs Mario kart game was Mario kart DS
Same here
mine was wii
Splatoonies :D double dash
Was my second but it’s my second favorite
That was my first too.
They should make a huge DLC on this where they remake all of the tracks from the previous Mario Kart games.
@Karma's Commentary It would be less hard than making a whole new Mario Kart game with different tracks and gadgets. After all, all they have to do is take old tracks and modernize them.
@theDaRkMarC That’s exactly what I’ve been thinking
And fora title "mario kart retro?"
It would be even better if they had a mode where it will be the same as the original (character roster, karts and graphics) but change the controls
This would never ever happen but maybe remaking one game in HD could work?
Or a Mario Kart game with all the races of every Mario Kart, but remastered
Joshman601 Wouldnt Odissey be something like that?
tfw you can complete the entirety of MK8's MK64 version of Rainbow Road in the time it takes to do one lap around the original track.
And this is why people like use shortcut at the very beginning of the course lol.
Speedyfrentchfries: This^^ was going to say that, Boost off the edge and skip half the lap. Shame they fixed it.
+Ian Watchmann That's because it IS one lap. If only it was two laps. Then there would be no flaws with that track at all.
I like how the switch rainbow road used elements of all the old designs
And holy fuck I was amazed by the DS and Wii versions as a kid but I see these comparisons and man, they were daated.
the wii version isn't dated. the DS version though...
not as dated as the n64 version. at LEAST it used fully 3d models for the carts.
MsClumsyAssassin dated? it was the console before last..
Well, it was released 13 years ago in 2005. This is a long time :D
Like what?
This is clearly fake, they didn’t fall off of rainbow road once.

It's called expertise my friend. I know I'm good in Mario Kart but I too falter in some courses just like everyone else. There's plenty of people who excessively play Mario Kart to get better and better. I'm not one of them, that's for certain.

My all time favourite will always be Double Dash. Definitely love the re-imagined maps however. The graphics are just unbelievably stunning!
Who here agrees that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has the best retro tracks of any Mario Kart?
I remember falling into the water for the first time in sherbet land. I didn't die! It was so cool that I didn't notice for like 3 playthroughs.
Bruh, they both have the same maps.
I like the ones from MK7 better because they were more faithful to the source material.
Yeah, so does Mario Kart 8.......
BECAUSE THEY'RE THE SAME
Best comparisons ever.
What if you Traveled back to 1991, and showed people this video
They would probably jizz through their eyes
ew
Mad isnt it. Came a long way
@@GaZlovesGames The game or the eyes?
Haha.. games have evolved nicely ...and if one can shoot their tears... they probably travel a distance also
Well yeah considering super mario Kart came out in 1992, just showing them that game would blow their minds
@TJ just to be fair Mario kart 8s dlc is more much reasonable than 98% of other dlcs
Man mario kart for the DS was my childhood
Double dash is my child hood
i dislike how they put a water part in DRY DRY DESERT it literally has dry in its name twice and they added water
No tornado neither
It's a mirage
its like an oasis and it looks way better
Dry Dry Desert has an oasis in Paper Mario 64 too
And the sinkhole doesn't have the giant Piranha Plant in it anymore.
The rainbow road 64 is perfect as one lap any more it will too long.
Shroom Hill??? You talking about Shroom Ridge?
No! N64 Rainbow Road is perfect with just one lap! Less is more!
YESSSSSS peach garden
Wish granted
I really miss Waluigi Pinball. I want to see it make a comeback. Maybe even extend it slightly.
Ice Kokoro at least it's in MK7
Kenny McCormick true. Still though I would like to see the course on the big screen.
Ice Kokoro it's cool to see it in 3D at least
Ice Kokoro maybe in the next two dlc packs
LittleDeez
Mario Kart DS isn't in 3D?
I miss the Yoshi helicopter from the GameCube.
I can't quit my eyes of the MK8Deluxe version *__* so much HD!
Well, I LOVE all the tracks of this AMAZING saga. MK RULES! AND THIS VIDEO TOO!! :D
I haven’t even played some of these games or tracks and I’m inexplicably tearing up...
Also, MK DS was my favorite MK game and the graphics look atrocious today. Still love it, though.
MKDS was my favorite level wise, but Mario kart Wii is so broken and fun, I play it all the time
When playing mkds on an original ds it looks a *lot* better
I think for 144 pixels its amazing. Its still my favorite and think with the tech they had its still ok today

Most incredible things about this is the graphics difference between the Wii and Wii U! I know this was recorded on a switch but MK8 and MK8D are graphically identical
Jack Gibb Same between N64 and Gamecube
I think we reached a point where the graphics can't really get any better. How would you improve 8DX?
@@TofuCate more detailed objects, like trees or so.
Thanks for putting in that extra bit of effort by slowing down clips when nessecery, it makes comparisons a lot easier
Still mad that they made warios goldmine so easy... the carts aren't even a challenge anymore and the shortcut is so easy to get too
"so easy"
Try 200cc.
TheGreenScyanite already got golden mario, still much easier than the wii version
Wii was challenging because it didn't involve skill, you could be the best player of all time but the items will find a way to fuck you over no matter what.
ur right, but specifically for warios goldmine, it was really disappointing that the carts dont flip you over the side, you cant sabotage people by knocking them into them, etc

It's so weird, I remember playing Mario Kart on the DS and thinking "THESE GRAPHICS ARE INCREDIBLE" because at the time, they were
I thought the same thing when I played Mario Kart 7 on the 3DS
And now that I have a Switch, to look back and see how far gaming has come, (and how much attention to detail the devs pay, because come on, it's amazing) it really makes me nostalgic

Music Park (from Mario Kart 7) is known as Melody Motorway.
Neo Bowser City (from Mario Kart 7) is known as Koopa City
Piranha Plant Slide (from Mario Kart 7) is known as Piranha Plant Pipeway
I'm amazed on how I perfectly remember the songs, can almost sing along the melodies, but I had totally lost memory of the tracks. Can't wait to play it again, OLED and my first Switch ordered yesterday.
Jesus Christ. MK8 drastically changed up the Super Circuit courses to the point where they aren't even the same. Awesome.
well they had to utilize the anti-gravity in some way didn't they
Foreskin 1.0 Super Circuit's maps had to stay flat because of hardware limitations. The stuff they added in MK8 helps each one have its own identity and keeps them from feeling same-y.
They look the same to me. All the turns are identical, as well as the track line.
digiangel234 They are remastered versions of the original tracks so they pretty much should be
Foreskin 1.0 Being my least favorite maps I'm glad they made them exciting to actually play
I died inside watching the Jett Bubble being used in MKWii
I'm amazed with how much more detailed and modern Tick Tock Clock has become!
The GBA tracks as well, it's amazing how they went from flat-out and 2D to 3D with anti gravity and gliding sections!
The only thing I heigth about MK 8 Royal Raceway is that you cant go to Peach's Castle yard, but still there are better graphics in the MK 8 version of the track.
Did you mean: Hate?
Nigel Joshua Orbe h8
Also, you can't hang a sharp left off the ramp and skip the entire mountain sequence... And come to think of it, you can't use a mushroom to cross the river on the second turn either... Just what kind of gimped version did we get!? lol

My first Mario Kart game is Mario Kart 64. I really love every time i played that game and his tracks, i think the difficulty of Mario Kart was tonned down in the next games
Gaspar Alejandro thankfully 200cc came to solve the problem
Laughs in 200cc
MK Wii 150cc is scalp ripping too, though 50 and 100cc are relatively easy and fun
64 is easily the easiest, snes was pretty hard but I think Wii was the hardest, MK8 D Is way too easy, even the 200cc, I feel Wii u ver. Was harder
here's my ranking of the hardest MKs
8. Mario Kart 7
Not the most complicated game ever, tracks are fairly big, CPUs kinda suck.
7. Mario Kart 64
Jesus, why are the tracks scaled so *big?*
6. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Despite the fact 200cc exists, the CPUs aren't amazing, because of having 12 characters the road tends to be very wide as well.
5. Mario Kart Super Circuit
Tracks are getting a little difficult now... but still easy enough.
4. Mario Kart Wii
Chaotic as hell.
3. Mario Kart Double Dash
The CPUs are WAY too good even on low cc.
2. Mario Kart DS
Shouldn't have to explain this.
1. Super Mario Kart
Or this.
When I first watched this video and at 3:22 I really thought it was a “shiny” Yoshi on the right cause I’m stupid xD
You should remake this video with all the Booster Course Pass tracks added in.
You ended the video with my favorite track in Mario kart history, Neo Bowser City. Oh mah god it’s awesum!

I'm playing Mario kart 8 deluxe right now and I love it and I love how much games and technology have improved over time and I can't wait to see them improve even more in the future :D and I also did not know ROB was a playable character
The most impressive thing to me is the fact that the lap times from the originals and the reimagined ones for MK8 are virtually identical.
i noticed that as well!
They're not. The clips from the originals in the video are either sped up or slowed down to match the newer versions. Watch the timer for the super mario kart tracks, you can see the footage is slowed by nearly 2 times, and the MK64 clips are sped up a bit too.
+GuyPercer
Mind you older games didn't be move as fast either.
GuyPercinn Mario Kart 64 courses are at real speed.
Not all of them. Toad's Turnpike and Rainbow Road are sped up just slightly, again, look at the timer.
The bridge was broken in the snes version and you had to jump over it to not fall off
Mario Kart as a series always a joy to play. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is tbe best game in the series so far in my opinion. Great comparison vid.
Default retro tracks >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Booster course pass
Wii, I agree with, but saying all retro tracks are better than the 8 Deluxe remake is just being blinded by nostalgia
Mario Kart 8 looks amazing graphically. I'm impressed Nintendo.
3:04 This was the Nintendo 64 most arduous curve! It had no camber, so you always felt into the grass hole. It was hard to master but really cool when others wanting to get back on the course felt on the other side where there was a river.
4:40 i feel like a dog just crawled in my ear

Very good video. Gives us exactly what we want. And the synching is so good too.
Side note, I'm noticing that while 8 looks nice, it doesn't really match up with the vibrant colors of the older games. Those ones look much more "Mario Kart."

Wow I didn't knew that Mario Kart on SNES was considered so hard. Is the only one that I have ever played a lot, so I can't compare it to the others. I was very good at it. I beat the game many times with Toad.
