Peugeot 307 Strut top bearing replacement

- The strut top bearings on this 2007 were in need of replacement, the owner complained of a sound that was like a broken spring when turning the steering wheel. I noticed that the steering felt inconsistent when it turned indicating a problem with the strut top bearings.
It is advisable to change these as soon as they can be felt to be bad. The strut top bearing ensures that the strut rotates freely with the steering. If it begins to fail the spring has to twist as the steering is turned which puts a strain on it which it was not designed for. This can lead to springs snapping which can be a safety hazzard and also cause further expensive damage to the brake lines, tyre, cv boot or ABS sensor.
Parts cost less than £20 to replace both strut top bearings, a spring compressor is required but the strut assembly could be easily brought somewhere that a spring compressor is available. - Авто та транспорт
Thanks for posting this, the bearing housing and spring mount on my vehicle appear to be one unit, which is why I couldn't find replacements. Thanks to this, I now know there's 2 seperate parts to it.
Just performed the operation using this video. Many thanks, couldnt have done it without it!! :)
Thanks for the video. I will do this on my now. Good video

Looks like an identical set up to my 308, those rubber top mounts had fell apart on mine
The mk1 308 is almost identical to the mechanicals of the 307, i somethings think of it as a very extensive facelift they are that similar.
Hello, i have a question?
My strut support mount has a pin, not the side pins but the front pin, does it belong to the back or the front? It's from SNR, can you please help me?
My car is a Citroen C4 B7 1.6 HDI 2015
⬇️ In this side ⬆️ or this side?
Hello, i think you are asking can the bolt that clamps the strut to the hub be installed from the front or back? It doesnt really matter but have you removed the parts on both sides and have no reference?
Think he means the rubber top mount which way they face in the top turret. Most come with two dimple/arrows which are fitted faceing foward and to rear of car
What's the part number for top mount and bearing for 308 1.6 hdi off side front?
Hi there
catcar.info is the best site to look up for part numbers or a quick google. Bar using those i dont have access to anything more sophisticated than that myself

Is this bearing present in a 206? Greetings from Poland
It will be a very similar arrangement in any car, the strut has a bearing at the top so the car can steer. Not sure if a 206 shares the same part as this 307 but it will be a similar concept.
Why there are no screws mounting it to body? This causes clunking noises after some time...
The rubber mount itself clamps it in place.
Quite a common enough way to hold strut tops in on different cars from different manufactures.
I hate doing these...
PS
I lol'd at ASMR part.
You could be a good mechanic, but if your shop is messy like this, i wouldn't leave my car for service there.
I could be but i am studying for a masters in software development at the moment. I enjoy working on cars as a hobby but would not consider it as a day job.
The shed is messy as its basically a place to go and relax ive a few projects ongoing as most car enthusiasts tend to do from time to time, messy doesn't bother me one bit, everything is where it gets set down.
I take the odd go at tidying it up in between projects, but inevitably mess does occur as work gets done.
