Hey i'm trying to choose which social science subject should i study and which would be good for my career and i thought you could help .Any advice please
@@zelalemwogayew5598 Hi, in terms of which to choose that really depends on what your interests are. To give you some guidance, if you aren't sure which subject you want to commit to, I'd say go for one which is the "widest" in terms of topics covered. As an example, in my case I was debating whether to choose Accounting & Fin. or Econ. I went for Econ. as it did just that. Acc. & Fin. is a very specialised subject which limits the careers you can get into after you graduate. This is fine if you're sure what field you want to get into as a career. Hope that helps :-)
@@FinanceUnboxed thank you I am a high school student thats why im so confused to choose my study but i guess i have some clue about it now thank you very much
I am completing my bachelor in English language, but I wanna get master and phd in economics. Is it possible for me? Do you think I can be successful in economics careers?
Can I become an accountant with a bs economics degree? Are there any more requirements or steps I have to take/do in order to be qualified for that job?
A BSc Economics will give you core skills for many careers including accountancy, but it doesn't qualify you as a chartered accountant. Many economics graduates at Sheffield go onto become accountants but you will need to take qualifications with a professional body such as ACCA, ACA, or CIMA in the UK. You may be better studying a BA Accounting and Finance degree if you know you want to go onto work as an accountant. www.prospects.ac.uk/job-profiles/chartered-accountant www.ucas.com/explore/subjects/accounting
Hi Jeremy, it's difficult to say what kinds of salaries to expect from these jobs specifically. According to the Prospects.ac.uk website. For an Economist job "Typical starting salaries range anywhere from £25,000 to £35,000, with the potential to increase to £40,000 or more after a few years' experience. " Hope that's helpful. www.prospects.ac.uk/job-profiles/economist
Hi Getem, you can go into the job market and apply for graduate jobs in the UK or in another country. Or you could do postgraduate study, again in the UK or overseas. There are lots of available options.
Hi Kunal, I guess it depends on what careers you want to do after you complete your Masters. At Sheffield the MSc Economics is very applied so it will give you the practical skills to work as an economist or analyst for a private company or for a government. It will also help build your research skills if you wanted to work in a research related job role or go onto do a PhD.
Sir,I am civil Engineer and I want to persue Master In Economics,so what are various career option available for developing country and skill requrements and does it relate my engineering career as well
I'm currently studying Economics for my first degree but I don't really enjoy it. I'm more interested in media and television but my parents are against the idea. For my masters, what options are available for an Economics student asides Economics itself???
Hi Adesina, I think you can do a wider range of Masters degrees if your undergraduate degree is in Economics. It depends on the type of career you're looking for. As an Economics graduate you're likely to have excellent analytical skills, able to organise and interpret quantitative data and able to simplify and communicate complex information and economic ideas. It's really up to you.
Hi Mohan. I think the fields that are included in the video are a good example. So, Juliet was an Analyst for an energy company, Edward is an Economist for a private economics company. You could also work in government or in finance or accounting or consultancy.
