I have just seen all of Mr. Miyazaki's film in a roll. I have to say The background painting in this movie has something magical that other ones don't have.
This is a director and studio operating at the peak of their powers. It’s a film created with passion and purpose with profound messages about the goodness of people and how people grow, mature and inevitably leave your life, all while being grounded and in realism. This is a work of art, a masterpiece. It’s needs to be seen by everyone at least once in their life and not treated as an exclusively children’s film in the US (just because it’s animated). I’m comparing with an entirely different genre here, but to me it felt like watching Hitchcock’s “Vertigo” in terms of execution.

12:00 this song is so beautiful. There’s optimism, positive messages, fun, quirkiness, and even a note of playfulness. There’s also majesty and dignity befitting someone taking her place in the world. It’s a song about how growing up, while kind of a shocking experience, can be fun and exciting while also fulfilling in a way you’ve never experienced before. I relate to it a lot.
Last year I began my Hayao Miyazaki Studio Ghibli film journey and the second film I watched was “Kiki’s Delivery Service”. I was expecting it to be good but not better than “Totoro” which I watched previously. I was pleasantly surprised, not only is Kiki my favorite Ghibli film, but it’s also my favorite movie of all time. The gorgeous animation, the outstanding English voice performances, the emotionally resonating story, and of course the beautiful soundtrack make Kiki a must see film for anyone of any age.

I mean the book series has been going on for a while, latest book was released in 2017, 28 years after the original film, and a few years after Miyazaki announced his retirement after 2013's The Wind Rises (although he's in the process of creating How Do You Live)
This movie managed to create a nostalgic utopia for everyone. I'm not from USA, Europe (Koriko was based on cities like SF and Paris) nor Japan, and I never lived in 1950s (when the story took place) but somehow the movie made me feel that my best memories of life were from the time when I live in Koriko.

I watched this movie for the first time in January… 2023 Yeah, I’m pretty new to Ghibli. However I think it says to something that I was on the verge of tears of joy when watching Kiki for the first time and I’ve constantly gone back to this soundtrack (I also watched Totoro for the first time last week and have been listening to that OST extensively)
fun fact in the french version of kiki..jiji has the same voice actor as cartman in south park french version and me growing up watching SP it was a weird experience

Damn i remember watching this movie lots of times when i was like 8 years old, and loved this soundtrack, everytime i her it i can remember how much i loved this movie, and produces me a mix of nostangia, happines and calm, it´s kinda strange.
The moment when the people catch the boy using blanket in the end just breaks me. I can't even think about it without crying. And I don't know clearly why exactly this moment affects me that way. Maybe because such world where people are kind, united and loving each other unconditionally does not exists

小学生の頃に魔法使いに憧れて初めて見た映画が魔女の宅急便でした。
小学生の頃いじめを受けて行く場所がなく祖母の家で過ごす時によく見ていたVHSのビデオがこの魔女の宅急便で御飯の時間、お風呂の時間、寝る時間、それ以外の全ての時間を魔女の宅急便を見ることに費やしていました。
今でもDVDで何度も見直すたび小さかったあの頃が懐かしく感じます。
