To be fair, Uncle Roger's recipe is your typical everyday fried rice (I think it's from Malaysia? Fried rice recipes are different between Asian countries so I'm not sure) so I'm not surprised that he didn't win against a freaking chef lol
That being said, the rice shouldn't be "mushy" as the girl said, if that was the case then it's the maker's fault, not the recipe's.

Malaysians don’t usually make fried rice with hainanese chicken rice. Normally plain day-old rice is used.

He also say use left over meat so this rice should have had meat in it.
It being mushy is the cook's fault. That is why you need the wok hey, which Uncle Roger always say, you need the wok and the wok hey!
You need to cook it and toss it in the wok hey till it crisps up.
That is not Uncle Rogers fault. His recipie is still on point. This guy didn't apply enough wok hey haiyaaaaaa!!!
I will choose Uncle Roger's fried rice cuz it has MSG.... Msg makes food so much better, i can't eat anything without it but using too much doesn't taste good either... Its like salt, too much doesn't taste good cuz it overpowers everything

I think it has a lot to do with how you cook the Hainanese rice and also what type of soy sauce you use

The others had a lot more toppings and western tounge like it fancy. And the hainanese rice cooked by 1 star michellin chef is a big difference.
Uncle roger's egg fried rice lacks meat. Because its only egg fried rice. So yeah not surprising that he lose. I personally gonna pick david chang's with peas removed haha. Cause vegetables just taste said(uncle roger). I think using kecap manis jnstead of ordinary soy sauce is better but thats just my opinion cause i like using it

As an Indonesian, Uncle Roger’s fried rice is actually closer to the version I usually make rather than the Rich Brian ones. The difference is I use sweet soy sauce (kecap manis), the sauce they used on Rich Brian fried rice.
If I have sambal I will make Rich Brian version, and If I'm lazy and hungry I'll make Uncle Roger version.

I disagree with that one girl's comment "this is the American version of fried rice". 1) what most people eat at cheap restaurants, that's the American version of friend rice imo (yes, I'm looking at you Panda) Not to say that it's bad, it's just not authentic. 2) every country/region makes fried rice differently!!! just because it seems different than what she's used to, does not mean it's the "American version". 3) never have I gone to a white/American restaurant with Fried rice like that.

I think you missed the point with fried rice. It is an Asian food that our mother made for us whenever there is leftover rice. So, I think Uncle Roger's fried rice is the most suitable one. Other recipes were great but a little bit too complicated and not exactly the type of ingredients that go well with leftover rice.
and you do realize that every fried rice in the video (except maybe the david chang one) use day old rice which usually leftover rice for us asian.
I am Indonesian, so yeah the uncle roger and rich brian one deffo reusing leftover rice in the best most possible way (we have all those in our kitchen)

It’s an interesting video but might be a bit hard to compare since the first two fried rice recipes are very specific. People who are not used to eating kimchi might get put off by the kimchi rice since kimchi has very strong flavors. Curry can also be an acquired taste and can be quite strong to those not used to it. The last two recipes are very familiar in the west and they have no ingredients that are unfamiliar and region-specific. Just my two cents.
