As long as I could remember I had leg pain as a child ,after years of pain it became excruciating and my mom took me to the dr , I was diagnosed with osteosarcoma of the left femur I had many many surgeries to save my leg ,but I eventually had to have an amputation at 15 and one year after my cancer spread to both my lungs , I did almost 4 years of chemo .. I am 14 years cancer free now healthy ,happy married with a daughter and one little girl on the way .. there is hope .. please feel free to reach out to me if u need someone to talk to or your son does !

I have a friend who had this when she was 16 years old. The cancer came and left 3 times. They amputated her leg all the way up to the hip. She has an amazing and happy life. People just assume she has a slight limp, not a prosthetic leg. By the way, we celebrated her 60th birthday in June. My thoughts are with you.

Anybody with a son who reads the title is automatically drawn to read it. I'm so sorry for Cohen's battle and the battle his family has to fight. For every tear you shed for your son, I pray for him a blessing. 🙏
We went through the same thing with our daughter when she was six. The doctor kept saying it was just growing pains. Six months later she developed a lump under her chin. The doctor finally had blood tests done. Like you I’ll never forget the day I got the news. They told us to rush her to children’s hospital right away. She was in first grade, I had to go to the school and keep my calm and remove her from class. My husband worker in a factory at the time and I couldn’t get ahold of him. Fortunately my sister was able to drive us, I don’t think I could have driven there alone. When we got there they ran a few more tests. Then we got the news no parent ever wants to hear, She had leukemia. They took us into a small room and gave us our options. She ended up on three years of chemo and every other weekend in the hospital for heavy doses of chemo meds. You are right when you said it affects the whole family. At the time I had a 17 year old and an 18 month old. Time stood still everything focused on her treatments. God blessed us with a great community of people. Our story has a happy ending. She is 33 and has had a wonderful life. She married her Prince Charming 5 years ago. God bless your family, we will be praying for you.💕
It really is a terrifying time when you hear the diagnosis. So happy to hear your daughter got through her treatments and is now leading a wonderful life.
In 1993 my 4 year old daughter was diagnosed with stage 3 non hodgkins lymphoma. We had seen 2 different doctors that there was nothing wrong with our child but I just knew as her mother that something was very wrong. It was the worst of times. We did get through it and my daughter is now 32 and a successful lawyer. My prayers for Cohen and all of his family.
My nephew had leukemia twice. It was a really hard time. It was 6 months from when we found out to when he went back out on the football field. We wouldn’t have know if he hadn’t gone and got his teeth cleaned. They wouldn’t stop bleeding. He has 2 beautiful children now. Didn’t think he could after the chemo and radiation. Me too... just came across it randomly! An utterly horrible experience for the whole family. I can unfortunately say from experience that there's nothing quite like the feeling you get when you arrive at the hospital and 'suddenly' realise you're in a children's cancer ward... (my son was 9 weeks old at diagnosis and 10 weeks when he had surgery to remove his eye.) I'm feeling such empathy for this family, and so glad they pushed for more tests when they'd been initially dismissed. It's not an easy road to tread but thankfully children are strong and hopefully in a few years' time this will all be a distant memory. Stay strong. Sending hugs from England.
These “growing pains” that dr. swear by need to be looked at and taken more seriously by doctors. I haven’t finished watching your video yet but I just want to say, your son is amazing and has unbelievable strength and after listening to you I can see where he gets it. You are in my prayers.
Doctors can be so narcissistic! It burns me up! You have to be your own advocate as well as the advocate for your children, parents, etc.! F that doctor!
UA-cam recommended this video to me and I choose to believe it was no coincidence. My son fought Rhabdomyosarcoma for 16 months and just recently reached 10 months in remission. I am praying for Cohen and for you. I know first hand how incredibly difficult it is to walk this road. God bless all of you.
My husband eventually lost his leg to bone cancer after many surgeries to save it. Now our son has multiple myeloma. Which was discovered when he was in hospital for kidney failure.

But both my in laws died of cancer and I’m always conscious that my husband and son could be at risk. Cancer is a scary thing, but thankfully there are advancements in medicine that are increasing the chances of survival.
Why don’t doctors test for the worst scenario first, then declare its growing pains when all other tests clear? If he had X-rays and scans when he first complained of pain, then maybe it could have been caught and treated earlier. Your little guy is a brave and courageous young man. Many prayers will go up for his recovery and for your family’s peace and back to normalcy and joy.
Agreed. It actually made me feel angry on behalf of this poor family that the docs dismissed Cohen’s pain as ‘growing pains’. His cancer journey may have gone a lot better if it was picked up on and dealt with earlier. Sadly, ‘growing pains’ seems to be the go to for docs - certainly it is here in the uk. When I had pains behind my knees as a kid and that was dismissed as growing pains. I know now I have Hypermobility Elhers Danlos Syndrome. It seems many of us EDSers were dismissed as having growing pains as kids. I hope all goes well for Cohen. I hope he beats this sh*t.

@@joannedavies4958 I am a registered nurse in the US. If a doctor is not properly educated/ ignorant they should not be practicing medicine. Also lack of time equals a money issue. If they are not able to properly care for patients because they are seeing more patients than they should , that is all about money.
@@babysteps22 I am a patient in the uk. Doctors are great at treating common illness. The asthma care I get is great. However, they’re not so great at recognising, accepting and dealing with the less common illness or conditions. It’s often a battle, certainly in the uk, to get listened to or passed to the right people that can help or diagnose the less common issues. I have EDS, most doctors are clueless. I know other people with other not so common conditions also have similar issues dealing with the medical profession. I don’t think that’s all down to money.

@Its Me Please be your daughter’s advocate and insist that further investigation be made into her pain. There is NO SUCH THING as “Growing Pains”. If there were, children would be in constant pain until they reached maturity. Too many medical professionals use this term when no obvious cause of pain can be determined. To use it without even trying to investigate the cause of your daughter’s pain, is not only negligent, it is criminal!

They told me that my daughter has just growing pains for years before they discovered she had Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis. Osteosarcoma was also a potential diagnosis after the initial MRI. She was 9 and it had been fifteen months since her father died. Parenting a child through cancer treatment is brutal. We've been through it twice already. It's such a painfully helpless feeling to watch your child have to endure what's required. My thoughts are with you and I hope the best for your son's recovery. ❤️

Hallelujah for clean margins!!!! I had a pancreatic tumor removed and there were no prettier sounding words than "the margins are all clear" !!. I'm so sorry. My husband was recently diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer which had spread to his bones. But my husband is in his 70's. I can't imagine a young son being so sick. I can feel.your pain somewhat. I'm crying with you. How you can be so strong I can't even imagine. God bless you all.
My Mother got breast cancer at age 70. She did very well through chemo and radiation. She passed away in 2019. She was a surviver of the breast cancer. She broke her broke her back and it down hill from there. God bless you and your husband.
I cried when I heard his diagnosis and about the treatment. I had a central line and chemo many years ago and it was a nasty experience. It seems so unfair that someone so young would have to go through all of this. That surgeon must have been guided by the hand of God to have done such an amazing job - wow. Cohen is such a handsome young man and one of the bravest 13 year olds I have ever seen. My prayers to out to your family. I'm so sorry Scarlett. We also lost bf oldest son at only 18 years old. Brain bleed caused from cancer meds. These holidays will be 5 years. It hurts like hell, especially those days but it does hurts a bit less with time. Be kind to yourself as he would want that🫂👩👦

My son complained of leg pain and weakness. Going to Walmart or the zoo he would say my legs. Finally our dr checked his vitamin d level and he was low so put him on vitamin d . We were told growing pains too. So sorry you are dealing with this . Best of luck to your son b

I watched and listened with incredible focus and felt so much the pain of your breaking heart as you bravely, very bravely, carefully told your story with such grace and courage. I am a nurse too, and a mom. You were so articulate and crystal clear as you allowed us to follow your story. Your beautiful son! As you would continue to talk about what happened chronologically, I felt a pause in my breathe many times. His age. His presenting symptoms. The Covid restrictions clogging direct and more timely medical evaluation. The diagnosis and added load of lung involvement. The waiting. The shock. The terror. One road block after another with infections, and chemo that didn’t benefit his bone tumor. The hope of Trial drug(s). You have been thru hell. I wish I could reach for your hand or to offer a hug with a long quiet firm squeeze. To convey how sorry I am that this has happened to your son snd to you as parents and his brother and loved ones and friends. You are standing! And your beloved son is Walking! So good to hear that the path report and surgical result finally finally gave way to some good news! Oh my word. Finally a break! I have grieved two of my three young daughters taken in a family car accident 3 days before Christmas. I know what it is like to feel regular family life shatter in a moment. To have ‘holiday’ and normalcy evaporate. I have so much empathy for you. Will pray for all of you and I wish every good turn on the road ahead. So much adversity. May you feel your feet beneath you more as each week passes. May healing come upon your whole family as you knit back together and find normal once more. It is a different normal. You have realized months ago that there is no complete reset or return to living as you were before that December. Change blew in with the diagnosis snd all of the hurdles that quickly pounded down upon you. You are clearly a remarkable woman, remarkable mom. I hope you are well tended and supported. I worked in an adult cancer center in the treatment room and my heart ached for every patient . To see them receiving their chemotherapy was hard but comforting them,family members was rewarding 💖. I just imagine how much harder it is for children . God bless him in his healing, prayers 🙏

My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic Adenocarcinoma. @@ElliciaJane1 This is so true. I have severe systemic sclerosis (aka scleroderma), but I was assured that it wouldn’t pass my GI tract. I had a simple CT scan and discovered it had gone into my lungs to a moderate-severe degree. I’m still treading through an ocean of possibilities, yet drowning at the same time. My heart aches for you mama as I’ve got a 13-year-old who needs me. You and your family are in my thoughts.

Truly so sorry.My own son passed in his sleep at age 19 but we couldn't have an autopsy done bcuz we were abroad and they can't be trusted with correct findings, so we don't dwell on it, we know he's with God and our loved one. My little nephew 7 y/o passed away from a brain tumor and my other nephew passed away from a rare cancer called something like demo plastic small round cell tumors in his abdomen, he was 27 y/o ( his mom, my sister had passed away from diabetic complications in 2002, she was 38) then a couple of yrs later, my mom died of cervix cancer. I feel your pain and pray that you will find comfort. Rest In Paradise.

Luckily for us we are in Australia so alot of the medical expenses are covered by Medicare. There are still alot of out of pocket expenses we have to cover.

I'm so sorry to hear this. It's so heartless of doctors to dismiss 'pain' as something being simple as growing pains. Your son is a trooper for sure. My daughter's doctor dismissed her abdominal pain as an ovarian cyst. I don't have to tell you what it was. My best to your son and family. I JUST ran across your channel and my heart went out to you, your son and your family. My sister, who is now in her mid 30s, was diagnosed with a heart murmur and hole in her heart at age 5. She has gone through multiple open heart surgeries, pacemakers, two artificial valves and numerous surgeries and tests connected to cardiac issues. I ONLY put that in because as a sibling, and oldest of 5 (I’m 52), I have felt that helplessness and fear. As a parent now, I can’t imagine how that was on my parents and on you and your husband. This is the first time I watched your post. I can't imagine going through this. I have bad health problems but as a mother I can handle any of my procedures but if my son feels bad or any of my grandchildren get sick I just fall apart. I've never followed your You Tube channel before, but will from this date forward. I've read many, many of the comments left below and find many promising comments left by people who have been through similar circumstances. What an incredible young man. The courage, strength and fortitude he has is absolutely astounding. To be presented with such seemingly insurmountable hurdles and make it this far (still looking so beautiful) is inspiring. I am sure that a lot of his bravery is as a result of having such a wonderfully supportive family unit. As long as I could remember I had leg pain as a child ,after years of pain it became excruciating and my mom took me to the dr , I was diagnosed with osteosarcoma of the left femur I had many many surgeries to save my leg ,but I eventually had to have an amputation at 15 and one year after my cancer spread to both my lungs , I did almost 4 years of chemo .. I am 14 years cancer free now healthy ,happy married with a daughter and one little girl on the way .. there is hope .. please feel free to reach out to me if u need someone to talk to or your son does !

I have a friend who had this when she was 16 years old. The cancer came and left 3 times. They amputated her leg all the way up to the hip. She has an amazing and happy life. People just assume she has a slight limp, not a prosthetic leg. By the way, we celebrated her 60th birthday in June. My thoughts are with you.

We went through the same thing with our daughter when she was six. The doctor kept saying it was just growing pains. Six months later she developed a lump under her chin. The doctor finally had blood tests done. Like you I’ll never forget the day I got the news. They told us to rush her to children’s hospital right away. She was in first grade, I had to go to the school and keep my calm and remove her from class. My husband worker in a factory at the time and I couldn’t get ahold of him. Fortunately my sister was able to drive us, I don’t think I could have driven there alone. When we got there they ran a few more tests. Then we got the news no parent ever wants to hear, She had leukemia. They took us into a small room and gave us our options. She ended up on three years of chemo and every other weekend in the hospital for heavy doses of chemo meds. You are right when you said it affects the whole family. At the time I had a 17 year old and an 18 month old. Time stood still everything focused on her treatments. God blessed us with a great community of people. Our story has a happy ending. She is 33 and has had a wonderful life. She married her Prince Charming 5 years ago. God bless your family, we will be praying for you.💕

In 1993 my 4 year old daughter was diagnosed with stage 3 non hodgkins lymphoma. We had seen 2 different doctors that there was nothing wrong with our child but I just knew as her mother that something was very wrong. It was the worst of times. We did get through it and my daughter is now 32 and a successful lawyer. My prayers for Cohen and all of his family.

My nephew had leukemia twice. It was a really hard time. It was 6 months from when we found out to when he went back out on the football field. We wouldn’t have know if he hadn’t gone and got his teeth cleaned. They wouldn’t stop bleeding. He has 2 beautiful children now. Didn’t think he could after the chemo and radiation. Me too... just came across it randomly! An utterly horrible experience for the whole family. I can unfortunately say from experience that there's nothing quite like the feeling you get when you arrive at the hospital and 'suddenly' realise you're in a children's cancer ward... (my son was 9 weeks old at diagnosis and 10 weeks when he had surgery to remove his eye.) I'm feeling such empathy for this family, and so glad they pushed for more tests when they'd been initially dismissed. It's not an easy road to tread but thankfully children are strong and hopefully in a few years' time this will all be a distant memory. Stay strong. Sending hugs from England.

UA-cam recommended this video to me and I choose to believe it was no coincidence. My son fought Rhabdomyosarcoma for 16 months and just recently reached 10 months in remission. Why don’t doctors test for the worst scenario first, then declare its growing pains when all other tests clear? If he had X-rays and scans when he first complained of pain, then maybe it could have been caught and treated earlier. Your little guy is a brave and courageous young man. Many prayers will go up for his recovery and for your family’s peace and back to normalcy and joy.
Agreed. It actually made me feel angry on behalf of this poor family that the docs dismissed Cohen’s pain as ‘growing pains’. His cancer journey may have gone a lot better if it was picked up on and dealt with earlier.
Sadly, ‘growing pains’ seems to be the go to for docs - certainly it is here in the uk. When I had pains behind my knees as a kid and that was dismissed as growing pains. I know now I have Hypermobility Elhers Danlos Syndrome. It seems many of us EDSers were dismissed as having growing pains as kids.

@@joannedavies4958 I am a registered nurse in the US. If a doctor is not properly educated/ ignorant they should not be practicing medicine. Also lack of time equals a money issue. If they are not able to properly care for patients because they are seeing more patients than they should , that is all about money.
@@babysteps22 I am a patient in the uk. Doctors are great at treating common illness. The asthma care I get is great. However, they’re not so great at recognising, accepting and dealing with the less common illness or conditions. It’s often a battle, certainly in the uk, to get listened to or passed to the right people that can help or diagnose the less common issues. I have EDS, most doctors are clueless. I know other people with other not so common conditions also have similar issues dealing with the medical profession. I don’t think that’s all down to money.

@Its Me Please be your daughter’s advocate and insist that further investigation be made into her pain. There is NO SUCH THING as “Growing Pains”. If there were, children would be in constant pain until they reached maturity. Too many medical professionals use this term when no obvious cause of pain can be determined. To use it without even trying to investigate the cause of your daughter’s pain, is not only negligent, it is criminal!

They told me that my daughter has just growing pains for years before they discovered she had Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis. Osteosarcoma was also a potential diagnosis after the initial MRI. She was 9 and it had been fifteen months since her father died.
Parenting a child through cancer treatment is brutal. We've been through it twice already. It's such a painfully helpless feeling to watch your child have to endure what's required.

My Mother got breast cancer at age 70. She did very well through chemo and radiation. She passed away in 2019. She was a surviver of the breast cancer. She broke her broke her back and it down hill from there. God bless you and your husband.
I cried when I heard his diagnosis and about the treatment. I had a central line and chemo many years ago and it was a nasty experience. It seems so unfair that someone so young would have to go through all of this. That surgeon must have been guided by the hand of God to have done such an amazing job - wow. My son complained of leg pain and weakness. Going to Walmart or the zoo he would say my legs. Finally our dr checked his vitamin d level and he was low so put him on vitamin d . We were told growing pains too. So sorry you are dealing with this . Best of luck to your son b

I watched and listened with incredible focus and felt so much the pain of your breaking heart as you bravely, very bravely, carefully told your story with such grace and courage. I am a nurse too, and a mom. You were so articulate and crystal clear as you allowed us to follow your story. Your beautiful son! As you would continue to talk about what happened chronologically, I felt a pause in my breathe many times. His age. His presenting symptoms. The Covid restrictions clogging direct and more timely medical evaluation. The diagnosis and added load of lung involvement. The waiting. The shock. The terror. One road block after another with infections, and chemo that didn’t benefit his bone tumor. The hope of Trial drug(s).
You have been thru hell. I wish I could reach for your hand or to offer a hug with a long quiet firm squeeze.

Oh sweetheart, I stumbled across this video and it was incredibly moving. I have no words and even if I did, I’m sure that they would be totally inadequate. My heart goes out to you and I just wanted you to know that you are incredibly brave and wonderful. It puts into perspective how miniscule my worries are and I feel ashamed of my moaning about them. @@ElliciaJane1 This is so true. I have severe systemic sclerosis (aka scleroderma), but I was assured that it wouldn’t pass my GI tract. I had a simple CT scan and discovered it had gone into my lungs to a moderate-severe degree. I’m still treading through an ocean of possibilities, yet drowning at the same time. My heart aches for you mama as I’ve got a 13-year-old who needs me. You and your family are in my thoughts.

Truly so sorry.My own son passed in his sleep at age 19 but we couldn't have an autopsy done bcuz we were abroad and they can't be trusted with correct findings, so we don't dwell on it, we know he's with God and our loved one. My little nephew 7 y/o passed away from a brain tumor and my other nephew passed away from a rare cancer called something like demo plastic small round cell tumors in his abdomen, he was 27 y/o ( his mom, my sister had passed away from diabetic complications in 2002, she was 38) then a couple of yrs later, my mom died of cervix cancer. I feel your pain and pray that you will find comfort. Rest In Paradise.

Luckily for us we are in Australia so alot of the medical expenses are covered by Medicare. There are still alot of out of pocket expenses we have to cover.

Every state has coverage for CHILDREN with significant medical needs. No parent in the USA needs to be afraid of medical expenses.

I'm so sorry to hear this. It's so heartless of doctors to dismiss 'pain' as something being simple as growing pains. Your son is a trooper for sure. My daughter's doctor dismissed her abdominal pain as an ovarian cyst. I don't have to tell you what it was. My best to your son and family. I will pray for you...keep your chin up...miracles can and do happen.

I noticed this was posted 2 months ago so hopefully your son has already began to see more positive results. I JUST ran across your channel and my heart went out to you, your son and your family. My sister, who is now in her mid 30s, was diagnosed with a heart murmur and hole in her heart at age 5. She has gone through multiple open heart surgeries, pacemakers, two artificial valves and numerous surgeries and tests connected to cardiac issues. I ONLY put that in because as a sibling, and oldest of 5 (I’m 52), I have felt that helplessness and fear. As a parent now, I can’t imagine how that was on my parents and on you and your husband. This is the first time I watched your post. I can't imagine going through this. I have bad health problems but as a mother I can handle any of my procedures but if my son feels bad or any of my grandchildren get sick I just fall apart. You and your family will be put on my prayer list and I will be praying for each of you. Try to stay strong and healthy so you can use your strength for your boys. God bless you all.
I've never followed your You Tube channel before, but will from this date forward. I've read many, many of the comments left below and find many promising comments left by people who have been through similar circumstances. What an incredible young man. The courage, strength and fortitude he has is absolutely astounding. To be presented with such seemingly insurmountable hurdles and make it this far (still looking so beautiful) is inspiring. I am sure that a lot of his bravery is as a result of having such a wonderfully supportive family unit. I will think of Cohen and his positive attitude throughout this journey, whenever I feel like life has thrown me a lemon. This is such a reality check. 💞
