This game deserves a 10. The story is just jaw-droppingly good and I laughed, cried, and everything in between. Plus the budget?!?! Nintendo put MONEY in this game, this is one of the best looking VNs out there.
@@SakuraHime10 I hope they’ll have this mentality come the next Nintendo console. By this I’m referring to greenlit more niche games and different genres. This Also got me wondering, I’m still somewhat disappointed Nintendo & Koei Tecmo hasn’t localized ‘Buddy mission BOND’ That game’s character designs was handled by Yusuke Murata, who worked on EYESHIELD 21 & one punch man. I played the demo awhile back, and I enjoyed the bit of what was given in the demo. Graphically it also looked quite good imo.
I couldn’t put the game down, finished it in one day. I truly hope this series can keep coming back, this was the best of the Famicom Detective Club games. What a story, and then what happens after the credits… wow.
@@vercettinguyen9063The first time seeing his face was terrifying. And then getting that massive bonus in the postgame just sealed this games place on my favorites list.
If only we were in that timeline lol. Anyways, I definitely hope Nintendo will fund these smaller niche genres. I wouldn’t mind seeing another Famicom detective game after this.
During the whole video, I thought that this kind of game tends to be a bit frustrating for me in general and might not be my cup of tea, but the fact you gave it a 10/10 is intriguing me. Might pick it up one day during a sale.
I guarantee it was that beautifully eerie, fully animated ending that pushed it to a 10/10. I enjoyed the playthrough, but that ending was a spectacular reward I won't soon forget. 👌
At first look, this game is like a typical horror detective game that would make you afraid or shiver. But, after finishing the game, it leans more towards a sad and tragic theme. This plot line is a masterpiece and was well written and can make you think about a lot of stuffs since the storyline can relate to real life scenarios.
I’m very impressed since this is Nintendo first development Mature game from their own studio, they did such an amazing storyline with Emio the smiling man especially with the ending of the game. I would also give this a 10 out of 10
We are so lucky to have gotten this game this year. It’s the perfect example of an end o cycle game, where Nintendo has pleased all of its fans with titles in main series (sorry Star Fox fans) and now it gets to just do whatever. This whole year had games like that and while it’s not 2017, 2019, 2023 it’s still be soon good
I just beat it yesterday. I give it high 9/10. The ending 20 minutes ANIMATION is the most incredible work/ biggest budget i've ever seen in a visual novel game. They really just showcase EVERYTHING talked about it in the game by turning it into a real anime. I deduct one point because you can clearly tell the final chapter of Emio side is rushed. (the final section feels like riding a roller coaster, way faster paced than other chapters) The final resolution ends in a blink though with some left out detail on some characters. I think the biggest wasted potential of Emio is the the conflict between mc and that male police friend. Seems like at least one chapter is skipped/scratched out from the production because it's near deadline lolz
Finished this game recently and I'm not as positive in my review but I can see why others would love the game, the presentation is the best I've seen in a japanese narrative game since 13 Sentinels. the sound design is incredible, and while theres no english VA (cmon Nintendo) the japanese one is more than competent. My main complaints with this game are the gameplay system and the general pacing for the game. I don't like how the game moves along with its menu system, the conversations last too long because you gotta be stopping to randomly think (let me think for myself game) or look at something with your slow ass cursor, theres a lot of conversations that go nowhere or don't advance the plot significantly, and while that isnt a flaw by itself if you try to make a grounded investigation game, the tame nature of a Nintendo Murder Mistery game makes so in most of its 12 chapters nothing happens and everything moves at a crawl while you suddenly solve the case in chapter 11 in a way that I find that I didn't earn myself. Another thing I don't like about the game is the female lead, shes very boring an unintersting with no traits to latch on, shes a softspoken very correct young lady and thats all you get from her that is good for a while but you get bored from her very rapidly. After the first 11 chapters I was ready to give this game a negative review but the final chapter and the epilogue saved the game, the end of the game went harder that it should have with how tame the rest is and I'm glad that it course corrected but the tonal dissonance is wild you go from 'Scooby Doo' adventures to 'Zodiac' or 'Seven' out of nowhere, I wish the tone was more consistent or didnt shift that dramatically, the subject matter and the severity of the case could use more bleakness thru the game so you dont get that big of a tonal shift. In the end I'm glad I played it is not very long so its not a big compromise but I think it has a ton of wasted potential, my score would be a 6/10.
@@dis_inferno9173 They targeted from non-commentary videos/streams to commentary videos/streams. As for the non-commentary ones, they got the harder hit as Nintendo did not just block the ending, the whole playthrough was blocked as well.
Like 1 or 2, but they’re not in your face they’re more calm and the fear doesn’t come from the shock of “oh it’s right there” but from the actual Content of the image
Personally, I was hoping it would move away from a few classic mystery tropes, and it did really bug me when /OUT OF CONTEXT SPOILERS/ . . . . . . Based on the way you described it, this game has one if those gut-punching endings that make you feels like shit, doesnt it? I'm leaning towards skipping it if that's the case.
The gut punching part is kinda optional if you do not want to see it. The rest of the game is positive. But the epilogue explains a lot about the story.
@@kybosh4253 Optional?! Can you elaborate more. Does that mean near the end, a warning and a choice pops up like: "This part of the story may give you emotional damage. Do you wish to skip it entirely?" Or is it more of a gore censorship kind of thing.
@nelsonw9483 the epilogue pops up as a separate menu option upon completion, and one of the characters warns you that the "contents are gruesome and you should only play when you are ready"
I finished it during the weekend , story is actually very good and I had a good time , solid 8.5 for me, but I played lots of VN so I have some standards and there are some weak points here and there but overall excellent VN
@@TimoNaaro Possibly because the ending is supposedly that good. The entire point of a visual novel is to be an interactive story, and if this reviewer loved the characters and the story from start to finish, it seems like a 10 in their eyes. Also, 10 doesn't mean perfect, keep that in mind. I just see a 10 as something that is at the top of whatever genre it's in.
