Goldie, for sometime the thought struck that you all were travelling through Wayanad and a prayer was in our thoughts....but very very horrific unexpected natural calamity..prayers for all who suffered..atay safe.
The tragedy in waynad was addressed long before due to illegal mining and constructions, this happened. The state government has given a blind eye on this issue.
True that some of the forest area has long been converted into tea plantation by the British and then by the Tata group and Harrison Malayalam group. We have tourism also here. Agriculture also is there in large amount. Mining is not there but Quarrying is there for building construction. All these are the livelihood of the people there. All enjoy the tea and Tourism here and then blame it on the locals and government. So what is your solution for the locals livelihood then give solutions instead of sitting comfortably in your couches and be an arm chair critic. Easier said than done.. Atleast the locals are living a decent livelihood without depending on anyone. Atleast appreciate that. Rain patterns have drastically changed after 2018 here.This is one of the reasons along with other reasons. A proper study by the State Central government on Climate change has to be done seriously.
