I live in Springfield and it’s my one of my favorite restaurants! They still have the one on national and Bennett. Thanks for your video, I’m craving it now!
My favorite restaurant in the whole world. Been eating there since I was in my teens. My Mexican sister in law and my husband hate it. You can also order the hot sauce online. I live in Arkansas now but eat there as often as I can and get the hot sauce to take home with me! ❤️
I'm a member of Second Baptist from all the way back when it was on Oak Grove. I graduated from Glendale. did you ever go to Skate Land - remember SkatePort ?
i really want habeneros in joplin mo, but im waiting till july 11th, to make my "damn" tamales, lol, 4 yrs ago, thats one of the last things my mexican firecracker mom said, make your own damn tamales, so i do, just about 12, it can be done lol
I hate to break it to all the people of Springfield. I am from California and Texas, where you can get awesome authentic Mexican food. Mexican villa is a joke...the whitest "Mexican" food ever. Not good, do not go. The hot sauce is not even hot.
We never claimed it was real Mexican food nor did we want real Mexican food when going there. It is located in Springfield, so of course it’s not the real deal. We love it and always will!
Every time I eat Mexican it's always enchiladas - but damn, $10.99 for just two cheese enchiladas and no beans/rice is a rip off!! I live in Waynesville Mo. about an hour and a half east of Springfield and at our local Mexican restaurant (El Centenario) I get the "enchilada Mexicanas" plate that has THREE delicious enchiladas (cheese, beef, chicken) WITH refried beans/rice for $10.99!
They are some of my favorite! When I go there, I don’t want any extra because I eat so many chips and queso and salsa. We like El Jimador in St. Robert!
@@thealtemlife Well if you're ever in the St Robert area again you've got to try El Centenario! I went to El Jimador for years and it's alright but when this one opened I haven't been back to El Jimador since - if you like good enchiladas like I do get the "enchilada Mexicana" plate, you'll love it!
My wife and I ate there on your honeymoon 44 years ago, it was great then don’t live in Springfield but need to go back and eat at Mexican villa for sure! The original was on National I think that is where we always went, was there for our 30 year anniversary and had that same waitress! Sorry now thinking about it was on Sunshine just off National.
Wow this is awesome! It’s a great spot to eat! We have been going for years so any time we are in the area, we have to make sure we stop there. Check it out again sometime!
About 40 years ago we moved to Florida from the Springfield area. At that point there was hardly any mexican places where we lived. Missed Mexican Villa.
Now I want chips, salsa and Taco's! I agree even here when you find a place that your palate loves someone else says, ewe...Enjoy your family and thanks for taking us along
While in college (now MSU) we used to go to the one on National. A cockroach ran across the table, which everybody thought was hilarious (that was in the 1980s though and I'm sure they have improved their hygeine by now, hopefully.) Maybe the Coke is from Mexico. They use a different kind of sugar there.
My dad was a mail carrier back then, and said the kitchen was terrible in the back where he had to go in,....but damn that food was good. I haven't been in awhile, but if I go it will be to the one on National.
Speaking of Mexican food, have you been to Latinos Y Mas in Ocala, FL? If not you should try it. It’s more of a Latin fusion place that also has some Mexican dishes!
Have to try Habanero’s next time you’re there. It’s better. Mexican Villa was the best when there was nothing else but Springfield has built great options.
Interesting! For us, we are definitely biased on the fact that we ate at Mexican Villa a lot and it holds a special place for us! Hard to pass up now that we don’t go up there very often. However, will have to try that sometime so thanks for sharing!
@@thealtemlife Evangel University grad. I understand. :) All throughout the 90s and 2000s, Mexican Villa and Hong Kong Inn were it. I still go back a lot as my parents live there. I got a list of Springfield favorites.
@@thealtemlife - you are so correct about the division over Mexican Villa, LOL. It's a thing 😄 We left Springfield in 2009, I see there are lots of new places.

The smothered burrito is the best! EVER!
Great choice! Love that place!
Enchilada style burrito, pro tip The hot salsa on a chip then dipped in the sweet sauce is 🔥

Someone shared the recipe for the enchilada sauce. Very good. We make it anytime we do enchiladas or tamales.
So good! Glad you agree! Wish we would have filmed more when we lived there!
Oh that is great info to have!
Mixing the hot sauce with the sweet is the play. If to hot add sweet or vice versa.
Cashew chicken? 🤣 I believe that's Chinese.
