I haven't got a heater. Many sources say thorichthys prefer 22-24 degrees, and that is the exact range in the tank. Filter and lights add some heat to the water. Lid also helps to keep heat by preventing evaporation. So the tank water is at least a degree C or two higher than in the room. The fish is healthy and colourful. Grows fast.

i just put two firemouth in a planted tank and they dont bother with the plants at all, i find them agressive towards each other , 45gallon tank with lots of hiding spots they also have a silverdollar tank mate which is bigger than them, should i add another firemouth or mabye some schooling fish to cut down agression?

I wouldn’t add another firemouth. How big are they? Also how long have they been in the tank? But test you could add a schooling

ok thanks , they been in there for 2 weeks and are about 2 inch's , what about a single electric blue acara? if i can find one

you Could always try and see should be fine if u don’t get a pair. At 2 inches they probably aren’t fighting that bad just chasing each other right?

With cichlids as they get older there personality comes out not so u just got try stuff

yeah its not too bad i just figured buying a pair of them they would get along better they seem to spend most of the time on opposite sides of the tank they are doing great otherwise, thanks for the info
