- Today we'll talk about Sanditon Season 3 and the reason why Theo James left the show. It has been only a few weeks since Sanditon Season 2 has come to an end. The 3rd season of the show is already confirmed by the Masterpiece. However, we're a little bit worried about the expected release date. Since it took three long years for the 2nd season to be released, we're afraid that it will take yet another three years for the 3rd season to come. We believe Sanditon Season 3 will either be a major hit or a complete failure depending on how good the writers are following in Austen’s footsteps.

Theo James is crushing my heart because he did not return! Heartbreaking 💔
Devastated that Theo James, playing Sidney Parker,, end in S1, for me, this character captured the whole, tension and drama of the show, he sacrificed, his hope of happiness with Charlotte for that fool of a brother! How can they go on without this character ☹️

I do think this plot theme worked very well and yes the older brother is unwise at times but "he has a dream" whilst clearly Sidney hasn't! Kris Marshall is one of my most fav actors and IMO he was excellent in this part. His struggles with mean old Lady D and his successes and mistakes are for me personally a lot more interesting than Charlotte or Sidney. The writers do give us a lot of characters to follow and it's inevitable some viewers will choose others than the putative heroine and hero to care about. For example I felt the vicar's sister was more interesting than Charlotte as depicted by script and actress! Each to his or her own as always!!! Oh also Esther and the poor relation, forget her name offhand... I also much liked Colborne's brother, and artist Lockhart (he was a lot of fun), also that army Major... and Charlotte's sister.
My favourite part is where he revealed why Theo left.

I loved BLH playing Alexander much better than Theo James. Good screen chemistry Alexander and Charlotte. Loved season 2 than season 1.
I was disappointed Theo James left the show. He is gorgeous. He stars in The Time Traveler's Wife. It's okay, but he was better in Sanditon.
He’s also in Mr. Malcolm’s List coming soon in theaters! Another Regency period drama at that!
He seems to make a lot of poor career choices! I think he's hoping to be the next James Bond! 🤣 I'll get slated for this but Sanditon is the only thing that I've thought his acting was good in! He fitted the part of SP, perfectly, and his chemistry, with Rose Williams, was great. I wondered, though, if it was in his contract NOT to have the sun in his face. Rose, constantly, had her face screwed up, against the sun! 🤣

They filmed seasons 2 & 3 back to back. So no, it won't take another 3 years to get season 3. They've already announced that s3 will be airing in 2023.

Season one had many interesting characters. Everything fell in right place for good ones and bad ones got what they deserved. With Sydney dead i don't see a point of going further with the story. I am sure that acting is good but it's me of course , never was a fan of endless series couse they loose that special string from the beginning.

I agree. The viewers were fully invested in their love story. The writers thought shock tactics would bring more viewers. They were wrong. I don't know anyone who wasn't disappointed at the awful, un-Austen ending!

Too late. s 3 is already shot and done. It's Colbourne as the Happy Ever After. Ok by me. Sidney was a jerk and Charlotte and Sidney looked so fake in love together

Seasons 2 and 3 were mediocre compared to Season1 which was so well plotted, acted and scripted. Thumbs Down!

A série é muito boa, paisagens lindíssima, um enredo rico em arquitetura, mensagens humanas , bons atores e baseado numa história de Jane Austen. Porém eu li que o personagem Sidney não participará da 2° temporada, porque tem outros propósitos. Eu acho falta de respeito aos telespectadores quando isso acontece, e tem sido recorrente nas séries.

Isn't it crazy how they lure you in to watch the clip but never address the issue presented. I am a devoted Sanditon fan ! At first, I missed Sydney, then loved BLH who gave an excellent portrayal of Colburne. Sydney was too arrogant toward Charlotte. One only wonders how he would have treated her had he not married Mrs. Campion and took off for Antiqua. I really believe his leaving the show, which was because he took the Time Traveler's Wife role, was the best thing to happen.

Season 2 &3 where fimed back to Back. Curious if season 4? This is the first time I've heard anything about season 4. In the UK they showed both seasons 2&3.
Unfortunately, because we're in the USA we didn't get to see season 3.wait until 2023 great.
Am watching reruns of Season 1. Am still reeling from Charlotte's heartbreak. So familiar with that ache, sense of loss, when I was young. Should have tied it up in Season 1 and let Charlotte have her happy ending.😮
There was an interview and he said he left bcs he felt that his characters story didn't need to be stretched bcs he alr was going to mary the blonde woman to save his brother from dept.
According to the writers, Sidney snd Charlotte were to end up together in season 2. However, 1 was put on at the same time as BBC's popular Peaky Blinders, in the UK, so viewing figures were lower than expected. ITV dropped it. Therefore, no season 2. The US fans loved it and demanded season 2, with Sidney and Charlotte getting together! Surely, Sidney and Charlotte's wealthy friends and Georgiana could have helped out, with financial backing. They could have made sure that Tom was prevented from wasting money/dodging insurance! Masterpiece took up the gauntlet but seasons 2&3 weren't made until 2yrs after season 1. By this time the programme had lost a lot of it's main actors to other jobs. Hence, the poor season 2, with no hope of a Sidney-Charlotte reunion! Hopefully, season 3 will be an improvement on 2. It couldn't be a more darkly depressing/poor sequel! Or could it? We'll never get the ending that Sanditon deserved. Sidney never married Eliza in the Jane Austen book. It was never completed. The writers were trying to out-Austen Jane Austen. 2 seasons were not required (except to make more money)! We could have had the required happy ending in season 1!

But I really like her charlotte and Alexander and her chemistry with the girls.whom have begun to love her as family my heart feels if she and Alexander get married they all.could all be a happy family together .and it would be a happy ending to Jane Austen Sandition. But I hope Charlotte has her True Love Story Happy Ending ..😍

So far I’ve managed to watch all episodes of Season 2 except for episode 1. So have no idea how they explained Diana Parker, Lord Babington or Mr Stringers absence. They of course killed off Sidney..I found season 2 awful. There was some chem with Colonel Lennox but I just find Charlottes love interest in Colbourne, boring, colourless and a waste of time. Loathe that it’s no longer Austen but a conglomeration of Bronte storyline’s with zero originality. I feel like they just slapped anything into it. Absolutely ruined the Austen/Sanditon legacy for me.

@@dea6001 Just didn't think series two felt like Jane Austin. Killing off the main character is something I don't think Jane Austin would have done. Series 1 was so good but series 2 felt somehow flat. It just seemed to be another costume drama. The Frazer story was good, will miss Clara and Esther, Jack Fox excellent villain. The two male leads boring. Don't really care if I see series 3

Yes. They even re-cycled dialogue from season 1! No Mrs Griffiths, either! I'm just waiting for Colbourne to have a mad wife in his attic, like Edward Rochester! Also, Otis coming back, as a wealthy naval Captain (as in Persuasion) to claim Georgiana and supply more information about her mother! Charlotte, who doesn't want to marry (and certainly not for money) will be chasing the wealthy Colbourne, for a trip up the aisle. There's no competition for him, is there! That's not surprising. Poor Ralph Starling will, probably, be killed in an agricultural accident, so, Charlotte is free to marry into loadsa money!
