like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....
For those of you who had to create a scene to control a RF remote fan, do note that the most recent Broadlink update has properly identified the fan stuff to Google Home, you don't even need as scene anymore. Great stuff.
Mass points for using the Zelda sound! Always look forward to your videos. Informative, honest, and freaking hilarious! Keep up the great work.
I bought the Rm4 mini and thought it wasnt what I needed until you explained that she that shall not be named only detects light bulbs.
Thanks alot!
Your videos are most entertaining as well as helpful. While I can't appreciate the video (being blind) I can and do love the theatrics and the production values. Great work.
Your video production skills are improving! Excellent stuff!
Bought an echo and a broadlink rm 4 pro today. Amazing help! Thank you!
😊
How the heck did I just find out about your channel? You're informative and funny, good combo. You've earned a subscriber.
I look forward to Saturdays. Eating breakfast and watching your videos. They are funny and helpful.
AHHHHH this is excellent, thank you! I was literally running ideas around in my head until I got smart and searched for it. Not thinking adds so much relief!
I just got this and now I can control my ceiling fan and AC Unit through voice, setup was very easy
One of the funniest UA-cam vids I have watched in a while.
❤️😊
My RM4 Pro from AliExpress has just arrived, thanks for the tip.
It was indeed dual RF and the IR learning system is brilliant.
So that's the Homey Pro & the RM4 Pro that I've bought on your recommendation, so I'm taking a break from watching your channel for a week or two, you're costing me too much.
I fear I may have become somewhat Hibbertized.
Just bought a Broadlink RM4 pro and this was my go to guide!
your editing skills are insane haha. brilliant videos Paul! so funny and informative
That's handy, just been looking for more info on this after seeing your older videos 😁 Very tempted to replace my old harmony...
If you don't use the remote then the Broadlink is a much more versatile solution 😊
Thank you thank you thank you soooo much for this video! I've bought the bundle on AliExpress with the sensor 🖤 just the advice I needed
I have just discovered you, and I'm loving the content so far!
First time to view any of your content. I have not laughed and been so entertained and informed at the same time before. Keep at it!
Thanks for pointing out the added frequency on the AliExpress one and for telling me about something I didnt know I needed ;)
the rebooting hibbert got me to sub instantly lmao, good informing video thx man
Thank you for another educational and fun video to take my mind off things.
I must be an idiot as I can only see the again link for the rm4pro, could you post the AliExpress one.
What a fantastic video. Thanks Paul. You are the BEST!
Hi Paul, I have a question for you with regards to the broadlink rm4. I'm just wondering if the broadlink can stitch multiple devices into a single remote view like the harmony hub could within an activity. As an example, I'm looking for a way to have a remote view that maps directional buttons to the Xbox and volume buttons to the Denon amp. Do you know if this can be achieved?
Got this on your recommendation. Works pretty good for the price. As you say there are a few work arounds you have to do, especially with "Channel 4". One weird thing was though Alexa works pretty ok but Google Home won't change channels even though you can turn on the TV on and off with Google home. Kinda strange.
Hello! Thanks for the review. Does the RM4 Pro work with RF remotes with rolling codes?
Hey Paul, great video as always !! 👍😁 Just wondering is it easy for the migration process from RM 3 to RM 4? I can't suffer the learning remote process as I got plenty on the RM 3 already setup there. Is there a back up process somehow?
A perfect ti e to watch this is after setting up a rm4 pro. Perfect time
Hehe. You do some amazing work.. Keep it up.
Only question I have is.. Does the broadlink need to remain in eyeline of the rf devices or can you put it someplace else like your lounge and still control the bedroom lamp..?
Good video, really cheeky!
Hey Paul... Do you still use the RM Plugin for your automations? Does the RM4 work at all with the plugin? (I just bought two new RM Minis and they don't. They don't work with e-control either (
Mate, thanks from Australia for the heads up on RF frequencies. 👏
I spent a day sorting channels out on the broadlink and getting the timing right between the button presses so glad they added channels now wow
The software is a big step up from where it was. 😊
@@paulhibbert even though I was very proud afterward getting it to work with RM link on a cheap android box this is way better, I think I may have to upgrade
Excellent dude...I'm looking forward to picking one of these up.
What I really want to know is what kind of desk lamps those are on top of your glass shelf beside the Batman cowl.
Great thanks 👍
loved the reboot screen
Thank You for helping me make up for all the functionality that Samsung is removing from their pre-2019 TVs. Also, I was able to get the 315/433MHz from Amazon in the States. But Broadlink Tech Support and Documentation is "crap". That's why I am watching this again and this time not just for entertainment.
"Love Your Show!!!"
Love the way this is presented.
Thank you very much, very informative and have now spent more money.
Thaaanx you're great! I couldnìt find how to find alexa's remote plug socket.. Bulb it is!! Thank you man! brilliant
Hi Paul, refreshing to see someone put things in a straight forward manner!
I’m looking to assist my FIL in setting up a way for him to control his BT set top box from work while MIL is at home (she’s unable to control TV herself due to disabilities but does get bored stuck on same channel all day but prefers only a limited selection of channels, BBC1/UKTV Gold/a couple of others). Is the Broadlink RM4 Pro the way to go? He does have a Gen2/3 Echo Dot in the same room as the set top box and television.
Guess the question is how dependant is the technology on having an active WiFi connection or can it be as independent as being miles away and still doing the job?
I'm glad to see that we can get the RM4 Pro here in South Africa on Takealot for R969 and yes, according to the specs on the page, it has both frequencies! No need to order from Aliexpress and get in 10 years later. lol
Hi, Paul. I have had the RM4 Pro for over a month now. Bought the one from Amazon because I didn't know there was a difference. I live in the US, and so far I have only gotten one of my TVs to work with it. I have followed the steps in the app, and tried to program buttons individually, but they just aren't working. These are for IR remotes for a Vizio TV, an RCA Home Theater Receiver, and a Sony Blu-ray player. Any advice on how I can get these programmed and working on my RM4 Pro?
Thanks!
Good advice about Shirley, I've met her and she's impossible to turn on and it's never her fault... Gr8 vid👍
Another great video mate, can't decide whether it's worth the upgrade from my RM Pro tho
Awww man ☹️. I was looking forward to this video today and it made me sad again. I bought RM4 Pro from Amazon. I need a time machine.
Hey Hibbert. Which app are you using to add the device in this video?
I have the same question
amazing stuff its MENTAL♥
Picked up an rm pro few years ago after watching Ur guide back then.... Time to upgrade 👍 can't see Ur AliExpress link below only again Amazon. Cheers Paul
@Paul Hibbert great video, as always. I have a question. When you set up this new Broadlink, did it ask you permission for you IMEI and IMSI?
Thank you
Red Dwarf. Well that explains why I love your jokes so much! Keep them smegs coming!
There are a few versions of RM Pro. The ones I have already supports both 315MHz and 433MHz and so I am still wondering if there's a reason to upgrade.
Where can I get your version of the broadlink app? it doesn’t seem to have 30 second to five minute black screen at every screen transition like mine does…
Dear Paul, thank for your video, I would like to know , if with the new RM4 Pro, do you have experimented the same issue of disconnection “out of line “ than appear in random way with the RM Pro and RM Pro+
Best regards
Javier M
Good morning Paul! Awesome as always, but the only problem with aliexpress is that when you order it, you'll get it sometime next year (or maybe not at all).
I would love a recommendation for a uk ceiling fan or even a review of one 🙏🏼
Hallo Paul, I think you are very expert and i follow your channel for a long time (for the last two years) and learn a lot from you , I Have used broadlink for many years and i was very disappointed from their rm pro mainly because i couldn't control my TV channels and my air-condition, so i change all the items from broadlink to Geeklink and i enjoy it (each of the have it's plus and minus), but the main advantage of Geeklink is their extenders that are with batteries and not power supply so i can place them were i want and place them were it's best place for sensitive the IR, and the extender is more sensitive, But if you say that now Broadlink improve the items, so i can think to return to them, what about the extenders for other rooms are they changed too or I'll need to use the RM mini like before?
I'm just trying to find a review of that thing that I can't remember what it is 😂😂, all I got is some extra bonus jokes 🤣🤣🤣I have to watch the video again to find that review
If I had my TV box, home cinema, dvd player etc, in a server room (cloakroom) where would the broadlink need to be positioned? If in the cloakroom I assume the TV couldn't then get commands from it in the lounge? Is there any remote IR blasters that you can add to the broadlink?
Hi Paul - What sort of RF range can you expect from this device? will you need more than one for an average house? Also with IR you will need to be in Line Of Sight (ish) can you link this to an RM Mini for TVs in other rooms?
Thx for the vid. just bought one from amazon and confirmed it has both frequencies:
"【HIGH COMPATIBILITY】: Support RF (315MHZ & 433MHz) controlled devices such as curtain/shades motor, projector, light switch."
Paul, i had an RMPro+, and now just got a RM4Pro, is there a way to transfer settings of all the RF Fans, lights that i have programmed into the old RMPro, to the RM4Pro?
Hi Paul...love the vids...do you have a link for picking up the rm pro 4 from aliexpress?
Jan 2023 update. Took a chance and got the one from Amazon labelled 433 MHz only. It does both 315 MHz and 433 MHz. Makes sense that they'd only make one version instead of two, and probably ran out of the single-radio version.
I got one off Amazon and got one with the only 1 frequency I will have to try from Ali express
HI Paul, do you know if Google home or Alexa can change TV source input using chromecast or boadlink?
Thanks to this video i had to do it. I named my RM4 Pro Shirley.🤦♂️ couldn't resist
Finally! Finally someone did it!! 🤣
Shiny. That's all I needed to know.
🤣 It's my favourite thing about it!
Great video !!! Just one question - is the range this short ? - i connected my external window shutters and it only works on one side of the house up and down satires, but the other is apparently too far even if the kitchen ones are no more than 12 meters away. The remote i am using right now can command them from much greater distance. Sad
Hi Paul, great video! Dunno if this was in response to my question on the old BroadLink video I posted recently, but it answered it regardless! Thank you!!!
Also we’re using something to replace remotes, but all comments are people asking for a remote?? Why?! 🙂🙃🥴
Hey Amazing video!! Too funny!
I just had one question will this work for phones that do not have IR blasters?
HI Paul, Can i use my Harmony companion remote with this? I've got lightwave (gen1) wall switch controlling my kitchen lights with the wall switch or Alexa. The harmony is controlling the tv,amp, sky etc but would like it to control Lightwave using this remote if poss. Any ideas? Shall i pop the harmony transmitter in the bin and start again with this?
It’s probably worth a note that 315Mhz is not license exempt in the UK which is why that version is not on sale here. Although all these devices are low power and therefore short range so unlikely to interfere, their use should not be encouraged.
I picked up the little baby brother to this, the RM4C Mini, £10 on aliexpress, only does IR though so no RF, was able to add my roku, lg tv, rgb led strip and an essence burner, the app was pretty easy to get the hang of and setting scenes was a breeze, not bad the price.
NICE!!! :) My new most favorite universal remote!
BTW, is there still the problem with the Broadlink app and Broadlink EU app? I'm sure you know what I mean, you made a video about it. :D
Thanks for the great video. Do you know if the Broadlink switches can be used in a 2-way configuration? i.e. one switch at top of stairs and one at the bottom controlling the same light...
Entertaining and informative as always Paul, thanks! Maybe of interest and worth adding:
1. The RMPRO3 doesn't support control of SKY boxes. Not sure if this is fixed with the new shiny RMPRO4, suspect not.
2. The mobile app from Broadlink called IHC used to control these RMPROs has now been superseded with the "Broadlink App".
3. Scenes created in IHC (and i assume the new Broadlink App) appear as Alexa scenes, very handy. I control 6 devices and have over 50 scenes created. Suspect these will need to be recreated in the new Broadlink app.
4. The Home Assistant app can be used to upload discrete IR codes to the RMPRO. I have the process and scripts needed to create/upload these if interested. E.g. turn TV on or off regardless of current state (really useful in scenes when the device is in an unknown state)
Thanks for all the vids Paul, always helpful!
Andy in NZ
Hi. After watching this and your other video "Broadlink RF Setup Guide For Google Home & Alexa App + All Common Fixes" is intelligent Home Center still the best app for controlling the RM4 pro?
Thanks for another great video. I got the RM4 pro and it works when it's in the same room as the tv but if I move the RM4 to a location near my hub it no longer works - any ideas 🤔
Paul
I have a question the most recent virgin media set top box V6, I’m presuming is Bluetooth, therefore cannot be controlled via RM4 pro?
Does it support 5GHz WiFi?
I bought an rm pro from amazon a few weeks back. It was advertised as supporting both rf frequencies. I never did find out if it actually did as it would not connect to my network. Decided to return it in the end rather than get a new router. No other devixes I own have trouble with my WiFi network.
Hi Paul great vid as always
I have harmony hub seems to work ok for me I also have RM pro 3 that I find hit and miss.
The one thing harmony has over broadlink is Bluetooth
Do you think at some point they may make one with Bluetooth built in.
Paul, is there a device out there that covers 2400mhz? I have a tv lift on my bedroom tv which is on the ceiling, it has an rf remote but obviously the rm4 pro won’t operate it
Ty. Bro.
I'm looking for a way to control my HDMI inputs on my Hisense TV with Alexa, preferably as routines. I have a Firestick plugged in as well I can turn the TV on with it and switch to that input, but not other inputs. Would this device do that? The remote has an inputs button but when that's open I still have to navigate left, right, up and down.
Paul, out of curiosity, what would be the best alternatives to control 433mhz with Google Home? I bought some actuators from a Home Wizard or something. They work with RM Pro, but for some reason Sonoff's hub did not recognize them. I don't know why, my ihc and broadlink services are not working properly with Google home.
Hey Paul.Hello from Spain. Great video! Thinking of getting a broadlink device just cause how much you insist on it haha. On another topic. I use Smart Life wifi devices and Alexa as a voice assistant and would like to be notified when a door sensor is open for longer than a minute without being closed. Do you know if this is possible in the Alexa app or Tuya Smart life app? Thanks!
Hey Paul
Love the videos thinking of buying a broadlink I only want it for changing tv channel/on off/ volume up down and sky box would you recommend the pro4, mini4 or mini3 can’t see a massive difference any help would be great.
Cheers
Will
Interesting one. I have upgraded my remote to TV 360 from virgin. Issue is the RM Pro does not seem to be able to pick up the remotes signal. Any suggestions?
I already have a harmony hub, is there anyway to create scenes to have alexa navigate on netflix etc?
Hey Paul as you are the Broadlink guru, having trouble, when trying to turn things on off etc, banner at bottom of screen says "Authentication failed, This Device Has Been Reset" Thoughts please? Thx in advance for any help...PS This happens when trying to control devices direct though the app, but it works fine when I ask google to turn devices on and off controlled buy the pro...
Hi Paul, does this RM4 Pro work/control the zemismart blind motor wifi/rf. The supplied remotes are 315. Hope so as my connection between the little WiFi hub and the blind motor keeps dropping out.
Thanks
great video Paul, as ever. Can you shed any light on how to get the RM4 Pro to control a Sky Q via Alexa. The Sky Q remote uses Bluetooth for the box and I can't get the RM to learn any commands.I only want it to switch on/off ! Various comment on the web saying people have got Sky Q working with RM4 - but no details.....Help!!
Hi Paul. One there a way to configure a longer press? My TV doesn’t always turn on with Beoadlink but does with a long press on the remote.
So my set up is I have only my TV in the living room and my home cinema, Xbox, sky etc in the under stairs cupboard. How does the remote communicate with the hub? Do I need line of site? Could I make this work?
Mine just stopped working after 5 months, doesn't receive signal. It couldn't find my cable box either so I couldn't change channels. I appreciate the walkthru which was helpful.
Still have my original Broadlink RM Pro from 6 years ago! Ask for a replacement dude, you got unlucky
Fortunately the CS rep responded "an error with an update that blocked temporarly the RMs", so we back in business :)
Hi Paul!! Another great video ! You have inspired me to start making my own videos about smart home tech!
Nice one dude. I did a video a few weeks ago with some advice on what to buy and what not to waste money on. Hope it helps!
I used to control and electric gate masquerading as a lightbulb using Siri shortcuts via an RMPro. For some reason it stopped working. Does the RM4 pro make this process any easier as all that ifttt palava is a pain in the arse?
Can I ask what Virgin control you downloaded from the database as all the ones I'm finding don't have half the buttons your one does.
Paul, I have a Harmony 650 remote for TV surround and Xbox, would you recommend this Broadlink instead?
