- It's another beautiful day at Willow Beach!
Join us while we sidemount dive the mighty Colorado River below Hoover Dam.
Crystal clear 54-degree water, mild currents, cool treasures, and some interesting creatures.
Highlights of the dive are crawfish, a vintage bottle, and a historic survey marker.
*** We were unable to identify what this marker was during our first dive, so we went back with some silly putty and took an imprint of the top of the marker and identified it as a U.S General Land Office Survey marker from 1930. Very cool!***
As always, please dive safe.

Awesome viz
It was definitely a USGS survey marker. From when they were mapping for the damn.
Great info! It was a cool find. Thanks for watching, and dive safe!
Quick little add on about this marker: I was unable to identify what this marker was during my first dive to this spot, so I went back with some silly putty and took an imprint of the top of the marker and identified it as a U.S General Land Office Survey marker from 1930. Very cool!
@@missionscuba I love old stuff and history. Very cool
It was cool for sure. When I went back to this spot to take an imprint of the marker, it was late summer and the grass had grown up like crazy and completely concealed the treasure, so I never would have spotted this marker if I hadn't found it in early spring. Fun!
@@missionscuba I’d like to do some diving with you. I’m in Utah, I’m also tech certified
So where was the treasure? Nice underwater video thou.
Lol. Well that's disappointing! The "treasure" was the 100 year old historic U.S General Land Office survey marker I discovered by accident. It would have been placed on the Colorado river shoreline before they built Hoover Dam, and now it's under water permanently. I guess it was much cooler to see in person than it would be in a video. Thanks for watching, and dive safe!
I live near the head waters of the Colorado and its never that clear up here 😭
Interesting! You're way up the river, like in Colorado? Thank you for sharing!
How do you like that CLX450 suit? Do you have the Cordura top with Polyester bottom? Or did you upgrade to the full body Cordura? Do you find it to be a heavy suit? Did it start off real stiff? Did it loosen up over time and become more flexible? Do you find it uncomfortable at any time, or difficult to reach things (diving sidemount, reaching behind you, for example)? Sorry for the many questions, I'm considering getting one and wanted a users opinion. Thank you.
I love my DUI suit. I have been diving this same suit for the cold months of the year since I bought it in 2010, and it's still in perfect condition, so I would say it has more than exceeded my expectations. It's extremely comfortable and not heavy at all. I have the Cordura up top, and a polyester trilaminate on the bottom. I added knee pads and pockets to the order when I got it. I don't recall it ever being stiff, so I would say it has not gotten more flexible with use. I am not as flexible as I am when I am diving wet, but part of that is because when I ordered this suit, I was 40lbs heavier, so it's a little baggie in the gut now, so if I ordered a new one, it would fit me even better. That being said, I wouldn't say it's restrictive by any means, and it certainly doesn't keep me from reaching things on my tail plate. Dive safe!
