Both smell way better on skin than on paper. It really comes down to whether you want a fresh sweet cologne vs a blue cologne. I'd go with Sauvage because of it's versatility, but Eros is really good too but not a must have imo.
I like eros edp on paper but on me it smells like bubblegum. So i went with Versace Dylan blue and i love it i skipped Dior sauvage because i didn’t want to be smelling like every damn guy out there lmao.

In Italy these fragrances are for 2 really different kind of people: Eros is for teen or post teen, sauvage probably is the favourite fragrance for mature (over 35).
Sauvage I definitely wouldn’t categorize as a mature scent.. more than Eros sure but that isn’t saying much. Eau Sauvage with more of a green classic barbershop scent sure.
I reckon they cannot be compared as they are from different categories of fragrance i.e. eros is sweet while sauvage is fresh fragrance... Nevertheless both are heavyweights in fragrance community... I own both...
I own the Eau De Parfum and for me the sweetness is just right. Not too overpowering or in your face unlike some of the other sweet fragrances I've smelt
For me eros is a good aroma, but it is a common sweet smell that can be found in too many fragrances so it is easy to assimilate for women who also always prefer the sweetest perfumes, but the aroma of eros is easy to find even in fragrances much more economical since it is an easy aroma to imitate since it has quite a lot of synthetic notes.
Sauvage is my favorite. It’s my daily cologne. I get compliments on it all the time and it lasts long. I have Eros too, not that I don’t get compliments on it, just not as many. I personally prefer the woody musk smell of sauvage over the sweeter smell of the Eros.

What's the point of all the different notes if it's being judged on opening. My £1.40 spray can have a more intense opening and only that and only for a few seconds compared to Sauvage dior. And people will pick mine. I'm buying a Sauvage dior on Thursday. I'm going to Pakistan. It reminds me slightly of the EDT and honors it, but it has a more niche like opening, but then gets very dense, aromatic, a bit spicy and a slight sweetness. It’s a bit more classy, or dressed up I would say, but it could be a nice signature for guys in late 20s, or 30 years old and up, I would say.

It is a very strong “Spicy” fragrance, which I believe was made for a certain customer in mind (middle eastern men). Also, talking to the fragrance ladies it seem this is true with who have been purchasing it the most. It’s a very well done fragrance, but definitely very different than a western fragrance and I will say some women obviously do enjoy it. It’s just not going to be a huge compliment getter like say a blue, fresh, or even the popular darker/night time fragrances.
