I've seen these types of clouds before. One time one formed over downtown in the late afternoon while we were shopping. One also formed ahead of a thunderstorm in August of 1997. They look like horizontal tornadoes.
It gets windy, whipping up the sand, causing it to get in your shorts and in turn causing chafing. Try to avoid these roll clouds if possible. One, maybe two is okay. But not three in quick succession like that. It's too much.
Wow three cloud rows like the sequence of three sea waves coming, amazing moment!. These roll cloud formations are called as Stratocumulus volutus.

ermm...possibly some lightning from the negative charge in the cloud that attracts positive charges in the ground, but it's unlikely.
