'Truth, Justice and the American Way.' Kids all around the world loved him! I would run home from school just so I could catch the episodes of Superman!

The tv actors were very well paid for doing these commercials, for just a few hours of work, and were glad to do them.

This is one of George's "integrated commercials", seen at the end of several 1953 episodes of "THE ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN" (sponsored by Kellogg's; they were "pushing" Sugar Smacks on the show that season). National/DC Comics insisted that "Superman" not directly endorse the sponsor's products in these ads; this is why "Clark Kent" appears instead.

Miracle Monday is the third Monday of May. On that day, families across the galaxy set the table with an extra setting in the hope that Superman will join them to eat. Superman scribe Elliot S! Maggin first recorded this tradition in his novel MIRACLE MONDAY published in 1981. But here we see this tradition presaged almost 30 years earlier.

This cereal still exists today, with the name slightly altered to "Honey Smacks"; dig 'em!

The word “Sugar” doesn’t appear in any cereal anymore in the USA.
However, Sugar Crisp, which tastes practically the same as Honey Smacks, still goes by that name in Canada. In the USA it used to have that name-but now it’s called Golden Crisp.

Yes, and I’d go back to those days in a heart beat. When my parents were still living, my neighborhood wasn’t a ghetto, and a new car cost $2,500. People who didn’t live back then could never know it was a great time to be alive.

At the start of this commercial that boy make a statement superman is coming and then presto, they realize he is really Clark Kent. I always found it a little funny that all Clark Kent had to do to morph into Superman was take off his glass, put on a little cape and now he his Superman. I always wondered why the characters were so blind that they never made the connection. BTW, you better eat those horrible Sugar Smacks in a hurry because they would get soggy and mushy in about a minute. Yuck!

Those "Sugar Smacks" were and still are horrible. Once you pour the milk on them you better eat them as fast as possible. They quickly turn into a gelatinase oozy muck that makes the cereal very unappetizing!
