I prefer the 6801 to the 8D. This sounds a lot brighter in my opinion

What magnificent sound. Great playing! I struggle do much with the last note. That pesky low a-flat.
Thank you. I think that the last note needs more meat, that is, a thicker lip and that the air enters the instrument slowly and warmly, without tension.

Same built but this sounds much different than the Conn 8D. This seems to be brighter but much rawer to me. Might this be on its “break-in period”?
I don't think so, it is a year old, it is true that it is not played much, it is not mine.

Beautiful rendition! I just bought a 6801, myself. I do have a question about your technique regarding your chosen fingerings. I noticed you play some notes below G on the Bb side. Do you find the intonation is better for you than on the F side, or is there another reason you do this. For years I played almost exclusively on the Bb side but recently have been trying to go the way of "Horn Standard" and it's like learning the instrument all over again.
Congratulations on your new horn, I hope you enjoy it. In my country it is played almost exclusively on the Bb side unless there is no other choice. Over the years I have been exploring and choosing new fingerings and combinations so that everything sounds more fluid and in tune, especially in fast passages. trills etc I think it is a path that must be followed, explored and chosen personally or with the help of a good professional.
