I loveeee when you draw cars

I was an industrial design major at Art Center College of Design. Xylene markers, paint spray and other toxic stuff almost destroyed my respiratory system, and my doctor advised me to choose another career path, so I learned to use a Mac (this was in the late 1980s). Xylene is a carcinogen. When I do use markers, I use alcohol based (I'm glad to hear you do too). Not as vivid in terms of color as the xylene ones, and I find they dry out faster, but I'd rather avoid the negative health consequences later. Still, I love this type of artwork, and you've done nicely here!
yep, this channel is very very underrated
Too kind. Thank you.
One thing we always used to do was to hold on to almost dry chartpaks for blending. At the time there were always plenty as we were burning through about 25 pages of full marker renders a week (don't want to date myself too much, but we only had access to one cintiq for the entire school!)
Hahah all good. I LOVE my markers
25? And they said design school was harder back in the day :p
Super and next video 4, 5,and 6 point perspective video update please
Hey Spencer, when starting off learning to sketch cars, do you recommend a more direct method like you've done here or a more methodical approach like Scott does in how to draw?
I think there’s nothing wrong with the training wheels approach to cement some good principles but to get more dynamic you’ll have to cheat a bit. Might be a good video topic.
@@sketchadaydotcom That makes sense, guess I just gotta get out there and start making some ugly attempts at dynamic cars to get better haha. That would make an interesting video topic!
wow you are so amazing and awesome 👍👍👍🛎🛎🛎🙏🙏🙏
Thank you!
Hi Spencer, it is always a bleeding problem and I have a 1-7 set plus black. I gave up a bit on Copic due to the bleeding after wasting a number of sketches. Thanks for doing this🙏📐
Thanks for sharing the process in real time, it's always most helpful to see how it's done from start to finish.
Also do you have any issues with the marker turning the ballpoint pen lines purple and smearing them a bit? I find that I can't really use markers with ballpoint pen and have to resort to felt tips if I want to use markers later on in the sketch.
No actually. Check out this video. Sketch A Day : Copic VS Chartpak AD Markers - The differences that matter ua-cam.com/video/it93S8GmnJo/v-deo.html
Hey spence, can you do a tutorial series on rendering within photoshop using basic and easily accessible brushes? Starting with primitives, and moving us up to doing that "egg" render in the scott robertson book? His photoshop is super outdated and cluttered. I wanted to get better at rendering in photoshop and using tips and tricks to getting very good reflections, etc.
Videos might be longer in the series, but there is not very many good videos on that subject.
I think it would be super beneficial to us design students finishing our second year and are a bit more advanced than what some of your videos offer (absolutely no offense to your amazing content, or other just starting out peeps, when I first started, your videos were a godsend!).
Thanks :)
I'll think about it. this is the type of thing that may be better suited for a "class", which I may be doing soon. I have to weigh a bit the time invested to ROI on the videos and if I told you what that was right now, you'd think I was crazy for even having a channel. 😂😂😂
@@sketchadaydotcom I'd be willing to pay $25 for some in depth classes, mainly because I'm a broke ass design student..You know how that is. I'm just really struggling with photo shop, and using it to my advantage. Especially if I bring in line work from sketchbook pro and try to render, the magic wand tool doesn't work too well for me, etc..Just not very good at photo shop and would like an industrial design focused online class regarding rendering.
Can you give tips for people who draw 'heavy handed'? I find it hard to make light strokes.
Practice.
Yeah I can talk about that.
First of all I want to say to you thanks for this great video, second, When I I try to do what have you done step by step, I can't find the same result, because I'm need more training? This is What I think,
Just keep at it. It will come! And thanks for watching!
Please call it a coupé [coo-pay]. Excellent drawing and tutorial otherwise!
Claus Bertels Picky, the guy is an American they don’t say coopay
Okay. My bad! I’ll try to do right next time! I’m actually Jamaican 😎
@@sketchadaydotcom Sorry Spencer
I hope this video have chinese😭
