A tricky and sometimes overwhelming plugin to wrap your head around despite its simple appearance, but once you DO, the applications that simply can't be done with other things begin to open up. A great not-so-secret weapon
May I ask; I want this plugin for basslines - but I would like to know if you would put this plugin on you entire bass " buss" or just the mids channels and exclude processing the subs (below 120)
LOL, I made a dispersion effect in reaktor a decade ago ., there is nothing magical about it , dsp knowledge is power ! The only genius thing is that they trick you buying into their eco system .
i cannot recommend disperser enough; it works as a regular all pass filter, the resonance allows for interesting creative effects, it works as a phaser with up to 32 poles allows for vibrato and pitch drift effects literally crazy
DAMN , i almost spend several years to figure out how a Psy Trance Bass or a big room Kick Drum sound so Pleasant and Fat and Punchy like David Gravell or liquid Soul tracks , i spend lots of time designing Kick Drums with Kick 2 to recreate what i was hearing but i couldn't and it made me disepointing But Now i think i Found The Secret . i can't believe how i missed this AMAZING plugin for several years , i can't tell you how much happy i am with this plugin , i strongly recommend it guys .
I love the fact that Kilohearts is such a dynamic developer. But, I bought it months ago, and honestly, I didn't found much use of it. Sometimes it's too subtle, and does something similar to a phaser. Maybe i have to try it on transient heavy sounds... Also, if you modulate it's frequency point with an LFO, you will need a relatively powerful computer to avoid noises. Didn't worked well on my i7 3.5ghz laptop. But yes with my Rysen 9 M5 @ 4.8ghz, with the same audio interface.
Hey Oly :) Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Yeah it can definitely be subtle. I find it's most intense on kicks, and basses with high-energy transients. But sometimes a subtle phase-swoop-thingy is just what's needed ;) As for performance issues, you aren't by any chance describing an intel macbook when you say i7 3.5ghz laptop? We've been working lately on some known performance issues in pre-silicon macs, so hopefully that'll be improved in future. In any case, give it a try on some percussion or slappy bass stuff - you might find a new fun thing. All best, /George

That’s a really interesting question. Like so many things I think it’d come down to taste, and context. If you don’t mind destabilising your sub a bit you can just go nuts with it all the way across the frequency range, but the lower you go the more you’re gonna be offsetting (or dispersing) your sound in time. If you just want the sproingy sploshy goodness without messing up the sub, you’re probably right to consider the split-band method you described. And you can even do that to a single bass buss/stem in multipass if you need. But try it both ways and see what works for your situation, I guess. Have a great day! /George
Kilohearts makes good stuff, so I'm sure this is useful. However, this video does almost nothing to demonstrate, audibly, what Disperser does. Is it in use in the demo? One assumes it is, but if so, on which sound(s)? Or was it on the whole mix? I can't tell. I've watched it three times, and I remain baffled. EDIT: Based upon the visuals, it appears to be on the kick (at least in part of the video), but the track is so busy that it's difficult to hear the effect (and I'm listening on studio monitors, not my phone). Again, Kilohearts makes great stuff, but if this video is meant to demonstrate (and sell) the product, it has failed to achieve that goal.
It's amazing how crazy good this simple little plugin sounds in the right place.

Disperser is great for adding "drift" to analog style patches!
I hadn't thought of that, but that totally makes sense. Cool idea!

I love this plugin. It’s a must have!
I love spicing up kick drums with disperser. Gives them that heart beat like thump you feel in your chest.
the visual fx guy had a LOT of fun with this, didn't they haha
love
The plugin of the decade.

try this plugin on vocals or guitars))
Also for pads works perfect. Can't describe what it does with non transient sounds, but's great.
More useful then it appears!
I guess when there's no one obvious prescribed use, we all come up with different fun ways to use it and it becomes a bit of a go-to :)

Love Kilohearts! Looks sweet!
Love this, has made a major difference to my drums and I find it cleans and sharpens sound too.
Great to hear!

Love to use it with my snapheap plugins...
lovely plugin
Really great plugin.
How can I emulated my guitar tone knob rolled down to achieve some Celtic Frost, Obituary kinda sound with this? Thanks
Awesome!!

@@Kilohearts so good! And so inspiring!!!
She's an interesting one
Cool, but more of an dry/wet demo to show what this actually does would be appreciated.
