  • This day we went to search for the Al Wathba Salt Lakes in Abu Dhabi UAE, and we found them!
Al Wathba Salt Lake in Abu Dhabi UAE is man-made, with pipes from underground feeding it. The salt comes from the salt flats called ‘sabkha’ that are a by-product of the arid coastal climate of the area.
The giant pads of salt that form an aesthetic stepping stone feature in the lake generally take years to develop naturally. The only possible explanation for their mysterious existence is that the artificially fed water somehow cuts its way through the already existing salt and mineral deposits underneath the surface sand - creating these gorgeous crystalline salt pads.
If you are in Abu Dhabi you can vist the Al Wathba salk lakes, they are very nice to spend a few hours there. The Al Wathba salt lakes in Abu Dhabi can be acessed by car but it is advisable to have a 4x4.
There are not one, but two lakes present on location. With crystallised salt bordering the lakes, this latest attraction is definitely worth the hype, or at least something that we’re not used to seeing in the Middle East!

This is very similar to Siwa Oasis in Egypt. Are you allowed to swim inside this?

Salt lakes? It's just a trench lmao!!! They dug a hole and then it filled with water. It's not a lake, not even close to a lake. Maybe a pond.
