My favorite Onion headcanon is that the creepy moment when he has the mouse within his mouth is actually him trying to make Steven feel better by showing him that he didn't actually feed it to the snake. But Onion is such an enigma who operates on his own wavelength at all times that he just did it in the weirdest way possible
When Steven remarks about the car wash brushes feeling "weird on your fur" he is referencing the time he was a cat monster and had to go through the turbo wash to change back.
So if you haven't put it together Marty was the guy that screwed over Stevens dad We meet him and Vidalia at the same time as the come out of Greg's Van. Presumably conceiving sour cream at that point. Later she marries the sea captain And has onion who speaks the same language as his dad.
You know it’s episodes like Keystone Hotel that make me scratch my head at the fact that people thought the Greg was a bad character at the beginning. Until the flashback episode of him meeting Rose people thought that he was a deadbeat dad. And I never saw that at all.
fun fact: when they fuse, garnet has future vision which can lead to different possibilities etc, not the *actual* future. separately, they have their own powers; ruby doesn’t have any future vision at all, however, sapphire separately has ACTUAL future powers, she *sees* the actual future (only if she wants to tho) so their future vision combined is ruby’s 0 powers and sapphire’s future powers into a middle power, i think that’s pretty nice :))
Interesting. I've always seen it as Sapphire could only see the most likely future to happen, while Garnet had the superior vision being able to perceive multiple possibilities. Never thought of it as a downgrade 🤔
It's the opposite, Garnet's is an upgrade of Sapphire's, while Sapphire might be able to see long into the future, her vision is narrow and can only see the most possible or "certain" future, but even she can lack crucial context, the most obvious example being "The Answer". While Ruby's rash and unpredictable attitude gives Sapphire the ability to notice more context (even in this episode, she fails to notice Steven's emotions because she's so focused into her vision of the future) and with that, more possible futures and timelines, something Sapphire is unable to do and allows Garnet to have more flexibility in how she'd act, the drawback is that so many timelines can be overwhelming and sometimes we see Garnet mixing them up, especially if she lacks enough context clues.
I don't know if anyone has commented into this but : Ruby doesn't have future vision, if you think back to when they were captured on the ship and Steven frees Ruby she stops running and says " I can't see" because she is so used to being fused with Saphire and just using it but it isn't her power.
Ahhh thx you I love Key stone moral as we really get to explore Ruby and Sapphire more and to see their different perspectives and personalities that make then together garnet.
“Oh yeah we can eat the food your stole.” I don’t think I’ve ever had to pause a vid because I was laughing so hard. I love Onion and Steven’s dynamic.
I remember when this first aired, some people were leaving bad reviews on an actual keystone motel and the reviews alluded to this episode. There had to be a Psa telling people that it was in fact, not funny. It was a mess lmao
Yup, Greg knew. It's crazy he kept the secret that long, too. I wanna be the waiter serving this polite cinnamon roll and his father. The way he happily said, "Thanks." I never realized that.
Onion often sounds like he speaks gibberish but the truth is he speajs Welch as his native language and since Steven doesn't know it sounds like giberish from his perspective
It's been a while since I've seen this show and I keep getting surprised that these are season 2 episodes. I thought some of these were season 3, at least.
That's correct. In "prison break" (I think it's called) we see ruby for the first time and she says, "I can't see" trying to use future vision because she's so used to having it while Garnet.
Hi guys. Vidalia was dating Marty the manager of Greg in that flashback episode where Greg met rose. And obviously Marty is sour creams dad. And also Vidalia is a type of onion. I’ve personally never grown that variety before but it’s a nice little reference in this show, that might have flown over some people watching. Love watching your reactions. Looking forward to your future videos.
@@kaialone my interpretation? why would onion, a 'human,' have a video of his birth ready on hand to prove he was actually born? it's part of a theory that yellow tail and, by extension, onion aren't actually humans. It's mostly nonsense but it can be interesting to talk about. For example, Yellowtail could be a Deep One in a lovecraftian context.
I can't stand Ruby's voice. Every line is this weird stifled whisper growl. She sounds like a little kid doing voices while playing with her toys late at night but she's trying to be quiet because she doesn't want to wake up her parents.
I love how ppl never realize that sour cream & onion are related when it’s my favorite chip flavor
People don’t realize it I thought it was very clear😭
And Yellowtail is a fish! They're the fish n' chips family!
YO ME TOO
@@vlcharlie4884 OMG I HADN'T NOTICED FOR THE FISH AND CHIPS LOL
And a vidalia is a type of onion!
Fun fact: Vidalia is the name of a type of onion... so onion is technically named after his mother in a weird way. XD
And Sour cream and onion is a chip flavor. I like how she named her sons like that

I saw it at the beginning of his first episode. But by the end of the episode he seemed pretty all right.
@@ColinTedford tbf he is designed that way, but looks can be deceiving and it's nice for this show to subvert that trope in found family settings.
how could someone think he's a deadbeat dad? he literally owns a business lol
@@TheZumiezNation It's not immediately obvious that he's the owner. I don't remember at what point that's made clear.
You might remember that Vidalia (Onion's mom) and "Farty" Marty (Greg's old jerk manager) already appeared in the Story for Steven episode
They lowkey created sour cream in Greg's van😢
So Sour Cream's dad is probably... ohhhh..
@@Art-X-WLets not think about that, lets only think about love
You know it’s a good reaction when you get sad when the video ends
"KeyStone Motel" was so good. I love Ruby and Sapphire's relationship.
I actually sorta forgot how much I low-key like Vidalia.

Steven being stuck in the middle of Ruby and Sapphire's feud is similar to kids having to deal with parents getting in a fight.
Keystone is definitely one of my favs, love everything about the episode.
Onion is a very um…… special child
14:33 in his own interesting way, showing that the mouse was fine

Ruby and Sapphire reworked out their problems. They have a beautiful relationship

Vidalia is a Type if Onion btw, they are usually sweet.
The reactions to these two episodes were some of your funniest haha xD
I believe that alone, only sapphire has future vision, but fused as garnet, they can both use it? (idk for sure correct me if I'm wrong lol)

Finally lol, nice vid
I forgot how crazy this episode was
"Get a room" They have a room. It's called Garnet. 😛
The horrors of the night seem trivial in the light.
