It’s pretty great. I played out with it Saturday night and was impressed. Stem levels is a feature I was jealous of in Virtual. Here’s to hoping they add it or at least make it midi mappable on the S11.
So great right! I do have some bad news however - spoke to an Alpha Theta Developer after I dropped this video and stem EQ's wont be coming to the S11 - hardware incompatability 😭
Ayo whats good Lyrix! I've heard you make those! My stock plastic ones make a weird sound that I don't love 👎 Id happily review yours if you wanna get some to Ottawa!
Thanks a ton for this video. I ran through all the pioneer/serato documentation and i couldn't find those button presses anywhere. It's a great feature as I don't want to replace stems with any feature on my pads. Keep up the great vids!
Great video. I've got the REV7 arriving soon so this was really helpful. Thanks for demoing the EQ stems feature. Would be great to see a text overlay of what you were doing during the demo as the effects were quite subtle. Oh, and your studio setup is dope!
Oh mayn, they gave the sauce to the REV 7 now LOL. I was hoping they did, and in future updates for the DJM S7 and S11 mixers to have the same Stem EQ feature. That is a feature i use over and over on my Rev 5. Good video, subscribed now, looking forward to your future videos.
FACTS! super saucy! Unfortunately tho, I spoke to an Alpha Theta Developer after this video dropped and stem EQ's wont be coming to the S7 or S11 😭 Hardware incompatibility
Hi. Thank you for the video. Finally my roll pads are free again 🙂 Let's see what else the Rev7 gets. Where did you get the golden fader caps and knobs from?
It's a great update. Do you think they'll add the long press to the instant scratch button too? I've hit that a couple of times in the mix and that is some horrible sh#t.
this makes me excited almost bought a rev 5 for those features. no need now since pioneer has updated the firmware. How long have you been running the updated versions?
The day they dropped I used em for a while, made the video and then put the rev7 away since them to be honest. I usually keep my techs and s11 out here in the studio.
Ayoooo my pleasure man - sorry on the delay here - I JUST realized i had 80+ comments waiting for my review 🤣🤦🏼♂. Overhead rig is a Sony ZV1-F into an elgato HD60S capture card.
Thanks for this! Thinking about getting a Rev 7 soon but I seen people complaining about different things about it and saying its over rated for the price so now Im not sure. Have you had any problems with it?
My pleasure man. Thanks for watching! Honestly, I love this thing and I NEVER thought I would say that about a controller. For me (a 20 year turntable user) its by far the most fun controller to play on and thats important to me. No problems as of yet.
Appreciate the quick breakdown and examples of the updates! Make sense why I couldn't find my midi map stuff after updating everything LoL Do you know where the bottom four stems functions went?
VirtualDJ users hv been using this feature with the eqs on even the beginner controllers from day 1. So why is serato limiting which controllers can use it?
I have a feeling that going forward most if not all pioneer controllers / mixers will have the ability. I spoke to an alpha theta dev about if it was coming to the S7/9/11 mixers and was told no due to hardware incompatibility.
@@djdoubledown so after using it for a while - I've come to realize that the native functionality of the EQ on the board are still there and working alongside the stem isolation.. meaning - when you roll off the mids, (i mapped them to bass+melody) it cuts the mids as it natively should - but then when it reaches a certain point on the potentiometer, the stems get triggered.. the result is BOTH happening simultaneously.. so it removes more bands than just the stem algorithm - not ideal at all.. I'm not sure it its even possible to prevent the EQ knobs to perform their native function lol - I hope this makes sense My guess is that on the Rev7 there's some code that disabled the EQ knob's native functionality as soon as the stem is fully engaged - because when you listen closely - you can hear other frequencies get louder as soon the stem engages.
Absolutely - Ive played pretty much exclusively on technics turntables since 2002. The rev 5 was my first controller I ever bought. I really missed spinning platters and pioneer on board effects.
Bro i have a question , why my left deck sometimes stops rotating it happens 1 time on maybe 2 months . Its that a problem of the energy at the place a play or is a defect in rev 7 ?
Oooh good question! Do you only noticing it happening at a certain venue? That happened to me recently actually. The power in the venue couldm't hold up and my turntables were unusable because they weren't getting enough power to properly rotate!.
Honestly, I need the spinning platters and pioneer onboard effects. The Rev 5 Is a great unit and terrific bang for buck value, but its just not for me!
Hello how are you, could you tell me what it is or how much is the difference in sound quality between the Pioneer rev 7 and the Pioneer rev 5, if there is that difference, if it is so big, or if it is not so noticeable, or what do you think? Thank you very much!
I think I noticed that as well but I put the controller away right after making the video! I'm wondering if somehow saving things in the setting utility can fix that?
@@djdoubledown Yes when you restart the machine and the laptop it does work. Am loving it tho am seeing many people still having problems with Rev7 mine has never given me any problems now or b4..
Hello how are you, could you tell me what it is or how much is the difference in sound quality between the Pioneer rev seven and the Pioneer rev five, if there is that difference, if it is so big, or it is not so noticeable, or what do you think? Thank you very much!
Hey Frank, I gotta be honest I didn't really use my rev5 that much. I've been on rotating platters for too long it didn't really stand a chance to win my heart. As far as sound quality, I would always run the rev5 or the rev7 through a separate mixer with better preamps like a yamaha or mackie. Both models sounded great that way in my opinion. The mic preamps in both the rev7 and rev 5 leave a lot to be desired unfortunately.
@@djdoubledown @Djdoubledown Thank you very much for your advice and response, also the microphone preamplifier of the pioneer Ddj 1000 is like weak loose, it has no power or punch, I don't know how to say it, and maybe the microphone preamplifier of the flx10 is in the same conditions as the rev 5.7, Ddj 1000, and as you say it is necessary to connect a Yamaha or mackie, greetings!!!
Yeah its crazy to me how "flagship" pieces of equipment from major brands like the S11, Rev7 or FLX10 have such poor preamps inside! The difference an affordable mixer in between your controller and speakers makes is huge!.
I'm having issue on utility settings where time mode keeps reverting to elapsed and the 33/45 RPM keeps reverting to normal when switching to long press. Any idea on how to fix this?
Okay, so I have an unrelated question. I just got the rev 7, and it's up to date with firmware and everything. But I noticed i can't select relative or internal mode when I'm using serato dj. Am I missing something?
Yo, they need to bring Stem EQs to the DJM-S11 mixer for real. That mixer costs so much money it should have all of their top of the line tech. I'm sure it has to be possible when using Serato in DVS mode. Get on it Pioneer!
Yo! So I spoke to an Alpha Theta developer after this video came out. I was told stem eq's wont be coming to the S11. Hardware incompatibility. super unfortunate I know.
I’m glad this popped up in my feed - I had no idea there was a new firmware that was released. Thanks for posting! I’ll be updating my REV7 tonight!
Im glad too! Hope you are loving the update 👊🏼
Thanks for the content! Looking forward to seeing more on Rev7!
Thank you! Yeah I should def do a proper Rev 7 review I think!

SUPER vidéo, cela serait super intéressant que Pioneer fasse de même avec LE DDJ 1000 SRT.

I know that is wild! They def the OG's of the stem game. Respect!
Would love to try out the stem EQs, but I use tidal a fair amount and I like using stems on them, if I update it will go!

Not true. My S9 works perfectly fine with a custom midi xml that maps the 3 eq knobs to the stem functionality 😊
I need to see this!

What does “low speed stabilization” do?
A stability improvement I suppose! I haven't noticed any difference there however I'm not often playing at very low speeds.
do these have wow and flutter like regular turntables?
A bit yes.

For sure dude! They are Chroma Caps and available from djtechtools.com
