  • The TS2 from TwoTrees is a game changer for diode lasers. With it's powerful 10W laser it can both cut and engrave materials such as plywood and acrylics. But the true innovative part is the auto focus feature. It's much, much more important than we could ever think.

    Also the open sided allows you to easily place materials and work with the laser.
    This is truly a game changer with the great z-axis auto focus.

    God video. So far this is the best laser Ive tested. Just adding the touchscreen to mine now. Don't buy a 24 as the PCB says- 35 is the only one that works ;) Cheers

      24 what?
      is 24 Watts meant?
      "as the PCB says" PCB is talking? Who is the PCB`
      Did You mean:" 35 'something' s required for PCBs"?

    No, no, no, this is wrong. $1,000.00+ for a low-powered diode laser???? 😆
    Not trying to cause any trouble, but for that money, you can get a much stronger CO2 laser, with faster and deeper cuts.
    For what it's capable of, it should not cost more than $500.
    Thanks for the video, though, and I hope you enjoy it.

      While I agree that you can get a cheap K40, I do not agree that the comparison is that simple.
      When buing a laser the first thing you should consider is runtime before you have to replace parts. A laser tube for a K40 will last about 2000 hours if you treat it really good. A diode laser will last 10 000 - 20 000 hours. Lasting up to 10 times longer.
      Second is the state of a simple K40 and all the upgrades you should do, remember many people change the controller to be able to use it with Lightburn, then comes air assist, propper cooling and much more.
      If you watch some of the videos comparing K40 to diode lasers and some of the videos comparing the K40 to a propper desk top laser such as OMTech, Glowforge, or even just all the videos about people telling about their needs to upgrade their K40 lasers you will have a better base line for comparison.
      So, while I still agree that you can buy a K40 cheap, your comparison of a K40 and this diode laser should include a more nuanced consideration of the actual differences.

    the problem is that you cannot run a diode laser on full power all the time otherwise the diode laser will be dead in no time.

    Is the auto focusing / height control accessible through Lightburn?

    • @DIYTECHBROS
      @DIYTECHBROS  Рік тому +1

      Yes, it uses the macro buttons! So you choose the height of material when cutting with just a button!

    So with the software and auto focus, you can tell the machine to focus on the surface for engraving AND tell it to focus on the center of the material of different thicknesses when cutting. Is that correct? And is there any material thickness limit to getting the laser to focus in the center for cutting. Thank you! You have the best explanation of the auto focus feature on this machine so far that I have seen. No one goes into detail, and this seems to me is a HUGE benefit to this machine. TWOTREES doesn't even go into detail on their website or videos. Thanks again!!!!

    • @DIYTECHBROS
      @DIYTECHBROS  Рік тому +1

      That is correct! You click the button for the depth you like, or if it is a surface focus for engraving. This and the easy access from the sides makes this machine genius! The depth will depend on your material, but you can push it to 15 mm ply. But the sweet spot is 3-6 mm for fastest results. We almost exclusively use 3-4 mm materials for our projects.

      @@DIYTECHBROS Awesome! Thank you! Again, you have the MOST detailed explanation of this feature on the machine. Even TwoTrees does not explain as well. I have even written them about this, with no response. Hope you do a review on their new 20Watt version of the TS2 they just came out with! Looks the same but with a black paint job and 20-watt laser. Thanks again, you have my new subscription! Steve

    Hi, I saw your hc-12 videos and I want to ask you for advice. I've tried to use hc-12 module and an arduino for telemetry for my model rockets, tried to test them but lost the signal after walking 50 meters from reciever. Do you know what could be causing the problem?

      Hi! Sounds like you might have a clone board and not the original HC-12. We have a video on that subject as well!
