This is so heartwarming. The video shows the outstanding dedication of a teacher. But not just any teacher, a teacher that went above and beyond what she had to do. All the effort in order to make a struggling teen part of a team. This is how teachers should be. She is the true definition of a teacher who never gives up.

Their are so many things wrong with the band like •The clarinets are holding their instruments diagonally •They are supposed to stand up straight and not be sluggish •The flutes are being weird on how they hold the instrument in general •Some people are looking completely at the ground •Their sound, it scares me, it sounds like they haven’t cleared the spit out in a whole decade •The way the some of the band members are disorganized and just are everywhere •The way some brass have their fingers •Isn’t the brass supposed to be in the back and the woodwinds in the front, how do they even hear the woodwinds •They slur a lot of the notes that shouldn’t be slurred •Some students play too loud, like it isn’t a fff jesus christ
She deserves a huge pay raise and some sort of recognition for her dedication. Teachers are the one of the most important people we have but they're underpaid, overworked, unrecognized and abused. Teachers are our future and people crap on them
A guy in my school band played the drums but one day he got in a car accident & used his left arm to shield his little sister. He ended up having to get it amputated because if the damages. He still plays the drums in band, just with 1 arm. 😊

I just had a bad fall and broke my spine, and I've been working with my band instructor to contribute until I can pick up the tuba again. Music heals in so many ways, from soothing the soul to helping everyone feel welcomed.
Zoe Pirate junior 11th grade, I took over as freshman when the senior graduated. I played trumpet 4 years in middle school, so it was an easy transition because all the fingerlings are the same. There is also a sophomore who plays jazz trumpet and tuba, now he carries the part because I can't pick it up.
For alot of those kids its probably the first time they've ever played an instrument. Very very few people are born being awesome at music. Give these kids a break will you? I myself didnt even think about playing an instrument until I was a freshman in high school, and I sucked. Now I can play drums, piano, guitar, bass, violin, and am currently learning the harp. Its taken many years, and a lot of practice.
So this is the level we're at? Your band directors should be seriously ashamed; you guys are shaming other less fortunate bands with less skilled members. Absolutely appalling.
so??? THE point is to do something you like to do, and if it's in a group it's even better. This video can inspire others to never give up. If you want to be the best in things you do, then stop right now, because there will be someone else who's better then you. Wow what a wonderful story to brighten the the lives of other disabled kids who now have a role model to follow. I would like to tell this band director that she is wonderful, and to the brave young man who just won't quit kudos.
I'm in marching band and Symphonic band and Wind ensemble, and I feel that band should be an entire family. This is exactly what I expect from our musical family, Which is why when people in my band quit, I get frustrated. They're part of our family and to me it feels like they're disowning themselves when they say "I can't do band anymore."

Just think if all teachers cared this much, the lives they could change, but for most it's just a job, but teachers have the power and opportunity to shape dreams and give hope. We all have memories of one or two amazing teachers and those memories stick with us forever. Mine was my track and wrestling coach, he pushed me into getting my name in the paper weekly and that was huge while my parents were on their way to a divorce.
as a drummer, I find shame in this school. Their sticks are very bad, they are not using traditional in high-school, and they are playing wrong. The kid with the illness was pretty good though.
I don’t get the whole debate over traditional vs matched. Our school uses matched and we’re the best line in the area, it makes no difference in how well you play.

Just think if all teachers cared this much, the lives they could change, but for most it's just a job, but teachers have the power and opportunity to shape dreams and give hope. We all have memories of one or two amazing teachers and those memories stick with us forever. Mine was my track and wrestling coach, he pushed me into getting my name in the paper weekly and that was huge while my parents were on their way to a divorce.

as a drummer, I find shame in this school. Their sticks are very bad, they are not using traditional in high-school, and they are playing wrong. The kid with the illness was pretty good though.

I don’t get the whole debate over traditional vs matched. Our school uses matched and we’re the best line in the area, it makes no difference in how well you play.
