As someone who loved building tiny earthfill dams, even some with working spillways, as a kid, all I can say is VERY IMPRESSIVE. He even replicated foundation and abutment excavation. I just hope his tailrace (the streambed immediately downstream) is stable enough to receive all that spillway outflow, and that no one hassles him for obstructing fish migration!
Hello. I don't have a degree in that type of thing but I am learning about it. ABSOLUTELY Should be worried about erosion around the edges washing out the dam. The sides should go in about 3-4 more inches into both slopes.
It definitely looks like a rice paddy field or some other kind of field where irrigation trenches are dug. I'm surprised some entrepreneur has not brought him to the US to build all these little creations and create a 10 acre display. You could charge $20 as an entrance fee. You could walk around for hours looking at these things. If it was near a tourist spot, like Orlando or something, it would do quite well.
