Spoilers!! But that's one of the reasons why you need to watch Tangled the Series!!! The lead up to the reveal that he's royalty is absolutely thrilling, not to mention the rest of the world/character building and the original songs throughout the show are darling! I highly recommend the stage version of Into the Woods. The performances are so good and the story is even better with more jokes and more drama. Plus it has Bernadette Peters who was the voice actor for Sophie in Anastasia. And Joanna Gleason performing her Tony Award Winning role.
Then you should watch Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007 film/musical) by Tim Burton. The film stars Johnny Depp as the title character and Helena Bonham Carter as Mrs. Lovett.
This movie is dark as hell lol. I remember we did this show in theater and it was really hard to do. Anyway, I would recommend watching El Dorado, another DreamWorks underrated movie that is pure gold

I did lights and sound for this on stage and it was amazing. I love the whole idea of a fairy tale mashup. This is Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel all in one. It took a ton of talent(from the actors, anyway) but it was my favorite show I've ever worked on.

If you like the movie watch the musical, much more darker and makes more sense why they die. Plus Bernatte Peters is in it. Im a HUGE fan of fairytales, its somewhat accurate to the actual dark fairytales which is why I dont watch it anymore. But the main reason to watch it and sing along is because its about not happliy ever afters and learn about growing up which helped me grow up. Plus there are funny things that happen in the musical that are too funny. So dark, sad and funny and they blend right. I know a lot of people say the Broadway ver is better and while I agree movies do what they can. I think for what put in and where able to accomplish it was well done and the songs are still amazingly performed. I still think it’s a fun and unique adaptation that I appreciate.
They did a great job with this movie, but they cut out a lot from the stage version. That's probably one of the reasons. They slowed down "Your Fault", I liked it better when they sung it fast. And they cut the reprise of "Agony". I loved that one. You can watch the stage version with Bernadette Peters as the witch on UA-cam. I have it on DVD. Love it.
@@Alexeya13 yeah I mean the movie was already pretty long, and so of course they likely had to cut things & change songs to make them fit better with the adaption. Same with scene changes and actions to what happened to character, however, all of this aligns with mediums and adaptation theory. Certain mediums like film can only do so much compared to live theatre, and vise versa theatre can only do so much compared to film.
Watching this and saw the step sisters was like wait a minute wasn't the mother and the other sister in Ella Enchanted as the same characters and then you just said that and I'm like its not just me
A trivia Emily blunt who plays the bakers wife was actually heavily pregnant the entire shoot. The costume designer made her dress to look like she wasn't pregnant. Both chris pine and James corden were both terrified that they were going to drop Emily and hurt the baby. Emily said in an interview the she called feel Chris's legs shake when he dipped her from being afraid that he might hurt her and her baby.
So one of the reasons this musical might seem like an epilogue after they all their happily ever after is just how the movie lays it out. In the original musical, Stephen sondheim wanted to teach children at the time (when it was released) that not all stories have a happy ending. But not everything is as it seems. "Witches can be right, giants can be good. You decide what's right. You decide what's good"

Funny how this musical in the first act is closer to the original fairytales than any of the previous Disney versions : Rapunzel being 'sold' to the witch in exchange for rapunzel-greens, having her hair cut by the witch, healing the hurt prince's eyes with her tears after searching for him; cinderellas shoe being stuck in tar on the steps on the third night, the stepmother cutting parts of the daughters foots, the birds picking out their eyes; little red riding hood being eaten by the wolf (as well as the grandmother) [althoug she's rescued by the hunter] [in the orignal end they fill the wolf's belly with stones and throw him into the river so he drowns...]; jack cutting down the beanstalk and killing the giant [though the mother does not come down in the original] And i also love the drama with 'Prince Charming' ;D

I have seen a high school performance of the stage show so I knew Depp wouldn't be in it that much and it didn't bother. I love him too as an actor.

I used to love this movie, but after I watched the original musical it was based off of, I realize how watered down this is.

A trivia Emily blunt who plays the bakers wife was actually heavily pregnant the entire shoot. The costume designer made her dress to look like she wasn't pregnant. Both chris pine and James corden were both terrified that they were going to drop Emily and hurt the baby. Funny how this musical in the first act is closer to the original fairytales than any of the previous Disney versions : Rapunzel being 'sold' to the witch in exchange for rapunzel-greens, having her hair cut by the witch, healing the hurt prince's eyes with her tears after searching for him; cinderellas shoe being stuck in tar on the steps on the third night, the stepmother cutting parts of the daughters foots, the birds picking out their eyes; little red riding hood being eaten by the wolf (as well as the grandmother) [althoug she's rescued by the hunter] [in the orignal end they fill the wolf's belly with stones and throw him into the river so he drowns...]; jack cutting down the beanstalk and killing the giant [though the mother does not come down in the original]
And i also love the drama with 'Prince Charming' ;D

Meryl Streep is queen! Lucy Punch, the step-sister, played a shepardress in 10th Kingdom, so a different part, but it sounds like she likes playing a step-sister. I have seen a high school performance of the stage show so I knew Depp wouldn't be in it that much and it didn't bother. I love him too as an actor.
