East India: Odisha 3: a visit to the markets of the Dongria Kondh and Bonda Tribes

- In this video we take you to the market where mainly women from the Dongria and Desia Kondh and Bonda Tribe do their shopping.
The villages of these famous tribes of Odisha are protected against outsiders and cannot be visited but the weekly markets outside the villages can be visited.
The indigenous Dongria tribes live in the Niyamgiri high hill range and walk once in a week to the down hill market to sale their horticultural products like seasonal fruits and vegetables and in exchange buy live chicken, salt, kerosene etc.
The Niyamgiri high hill range is an area with densely forested hills, deep gorges and cascading brooks. To be a Dongria Kondh is to farm the hills’ fertile slopes, harvest their produce, and worship the mountain god Niyam Raja and the hills he presides over, including the 4,000 meter Mountain of the Law, Niyam Dongar.
The habitat of the Dongria is threatened by a large mining company that wants to dig up the mountain for the production of bauxite. It makes the Dongria very suspicious. They protect their habitat and culture fanatically. Rightly so!
But a visit to the weekly Chatikona / Bissamcuttack marketis a nice and colorful event.
The Dongria have striking jewelery, tattoos and hairstyles. Women wear many rings through their ears and three through their noses, while boys wear two nose rings. Dongria girls wear clips in their hair and rings and beads around their necks.
The second market we visit is the market where the people of the Bonda or Remo tribe come to buy and sell . The Bonda tribe is one of the most interesting tribes of India. Bonda ladies are very pretty as they adorn their upper body with various beaded chains, jewellary, and metal chains. Bonda means: naked people. The ladys used to be dressed with only a bunch of necklaces made of colorful beads covering their body. Now they also wear a loincloth and shawl to as a cover for their body.
The Bonda tribes sell their homemade alcohol in this market. You have the great opportunity to meet this community and to deal with it and if you want to share a drink with them.
Also meet one lady of the native Gadaba tribe. www.travelbyphoto.nl

Wat weer een fascinerend beeld van dit part of India! Mijn compliment!
Good job making this very interesting documentary about these very ancient tribal peoples! We hope they are getting the protection they need and deserve as rare ancestors out of Africa some 60,000 years back. They marry boys about 10-12 years old to women 15 years older, customarily, etc. fascinating to get in formed about the Bonda People, for sure.
Deus e maravilhoso se vê essas maravilha é muito lindo essa tradição

Hi
👍👍👍👍
Молодцы. Все в свойх национальных костюмах
my village.Very small. A wonderful tribal culture.Not only culture there is also handicrafts and ornaments also you never seen.
@Vibhu yes we can say that, they are hindu bcz there are many tribal community like kandha,Saura , Bonda are lives in koraput, ganjam and malkangiri district respectively . And the tribal community shown hear is Dongria kandha lives in Rayagada district .
The similarities of these community in their culture is worship a godess and they believe most in black magic.
As we knows black magic is 2 types in our Hindu Culture
1. Tantra bidya
2nd one is Sabar bidya
These are different from veda and Purana s but based on Santana dharma.
So we can call them Hindus.
As u research more about the Adibasi community all over the India these are the similarity and still now they believes on this and lots of murder are happening."Bali pratha "is an example.
If you study the Veda it is say that meditation is the important factor which is also in Indian black magics.
{ My English is not good,if there is any mistakes then forgive me.}
@Vibhu yes ur r8 I'm living with these people's and in my village there is a Christian hospital also I don't know what they do and why they trying to convert people .
I think before we teach them , we must have the knowledge about sanatana dharma.
1.There is few people know we have 33 type of god not 33 million .
2.we don't knows veda is not about dhrma it is a science book about cosmos {jotisha sastra, word power {chanda)}, philosophy {darsan sastra}.
Even we don't know what is brhmacharya properly.
Bimana sastra, we laugh at kamasutra but no one trying to read that .Biology is transparently shown in bhagbat geeta , there is also gandharba bidya {how to influence other by look }
Until we fully understand what is Santana is ?,how can we will be guru and teach them Sanatana
@@devdebasishpadhy1463 Christians are converting tribals and we Hindus are converting European
