Interesting. What caught my attention the most was the "dissection" of the English language, including explanations with anatomical images. I believe that even most native English speakers do not know these details. Being Brazilian , I had never realized that I’ve already been using these phonetic details automatically since I learned how to read and speak English well, but without exactly knowing why and how. Also, Billie's voice is very relaxing and pleasant, almost sensual. I don't know if this is natural or a technique she uses as a teacher, but it encourages a lot to watch the videos. Highly recommended.
@@hemalathayallasiri363 It's nice to be able to communicate with people all over the world. Given your name, you're probably from the Middle East or India, but I'm not sure. I am Brazilian, of Portuguese descent. Not all Brazilians are Portuguese mixed with native Indians and Africans. Brazil was a colony founded by the Portuguese, but later became a country of immigrants, mainly from Italy, Spain, Germany, Syria, Lebanon and Japan. And from other European countries, too. The mix of races is amazing. Thanks for the reply, Hemalatha.
Hi! I just wanted to thank you! You've helped me pass the two phonetics exams I had this year and I passed the subject! It is anual and it has a lot of theory and your videos were great help when I felt stuck and felt like I couldn't read another page of Roach or Lecumberri. I am from Argentina majoring in teaching English as a foreign language and phonetics is the soul of our TTC. So, again, thank you so much for your videos and your help. I'll be back for Phonetics II when I have to work on intonation patterns and so 🤣🙏🏼 thank you!
What a lovely message! 💛 Thank you so much Sofía! This made me really happy to hear! Congratulations on passing both your exams 🎉 That's fantastic news. I'm very happy to hear I could be of help. 😊
Love this minimal pair video very much, thank you! Is it /l/ as the last consonant makes the difference not so obvious? eg still/steal, hill/heal. Would like to have more minimal pair lesson like this one.
