So many tools...so little bench space

  • Bench space is at a premium in my semi-small shop. So, I created a multi-use tool docking station that allows me to swap benchtop tools in and out! You could also apply this concept and build a small work table in your shop where you could easily swap tools in and out to make better use of your bench space.

You’ve settled into the new garage shop. Starting to look like the old garage. The floor looks nice and smooth. The interchangeable tool boards is a solution to a problem most of us have. I think there is a Woodsmith or something with the red colored shop and a bench top tool tower that isn’t the same idea but it’s a large shelf to hold all the tools on boards without french cleats. I think I’d adapt this and use a shape on the bottom to lock it to the bench top. Like pair of squares that lock into matching dog holes/squares. Cheers.

Yes, I am settling in. The floor in that garage used to be dirt, but the previous owner put a concrete floor in pretty recently. I think if you didnt have the tool tray at the end of the bench, putting some pegs on the bottom to fit into dog holes would be genius!

Are you going to show all your other tools on the French cleats? Do you have enough wall space?
