I have and carry my firearm in this bag during the hot weather months. I agree 100% that there is no such thing as a quick draw. I use this for hikes and working on my property to stay armed and have the essentials I fell I need. Great review Luke!
I have the xl and have used it to "carry" while cycling and even used it on a float trip. I don't use the CCW zipper like that . I place both zippers all the way at the very bottom . I find it barely large enough for a Glock 26 (which is small) and some gear i.e. checkbook sized wallet and a phone. If I want to bring a flashlight or my keys , or a Swiss army knife , I have to use a different wallet. Not something I use everyday . I do like it however for athletic pants/shorts situations. Side note : my xl came with an extension option.
I bought mine today. I want it for conceal carry while on my motorcycle, especially when doing long distance rides. I typically don’t carry at all when I ride because nothing is comfortable or convenient. It’s always a pain in the butt. This thing should allow me to carry comfortably enough as well as give me another option for things like garage remote, key fob, cell phone and wallet. Lastly, I knew I would be sacrificing speed. I opted for having it vs leaving it at home.
Great bag. Use it daily to carry a subcompact and it fits just fine. Only complaint is the waist strap loosens up with use. Nobody carrying for self defense should be worried about a quick draw. If you can’t recognize danger until a split second before you need to use deadly force, you need to fix that anyway.
@@KevinSmith-yh6tl it's sugar in a can. If you like that kind of thing. Excellent as part of electrolyte replacement therapy when hungover. I use mine as a daily woods walk bag. I have the standard and XL sizes. In the standard size, I carry a small folding knife, emergency poncho, small water bladder, compass, pen, memo pad, lighter, and whistle. I use the standard bag for summer walks. In the XL, I carry a 0.5-liter Platypus water bladder in the concealed carry pocket, and a pack able nylon water-repellent jacket in the main packet. In the front pocket: Mini Mag light, Swiss Army Knife, lighter, whistle, ear plugs, compass, pen, and memo pad. Firearm goes on my belt. Wallet, keys and phone in trouser pockets. I love mine, and it works great for me as a sling bag. Doesn’t move around when I’m walking. I walk the Appalachian Trail going to and from work, and the Forest Service recommends carrying basic survival gear due to the lack of cell phone service.
I’ve had the large version for about 2 months and I love it. And yes, I use it for its intended purpose. And actually there is a way to set it up for quick draw without modification.
I have 3 waist pouches that I alternate in the warmer months of the year. I don't tuck in my shirt so most people don't even know I'm wearing one. There great for edc items that you don't want in your pockets and also for conceal carry. Waist pouches are essential part of my gear, because they keep your things secure without all the bulk.
Not a fan when the zipper run across where the belt is connected. There would be strain on the zipper if you have heavy bag contents. It may damage the zipper or can accidentally open it. Maybe a stongger design if they put the third zipper after the belt connection. That would also makes the zipper more concealed. Also, I would prefer it if the bag is waterproof.
Agree with the size. I got the xl and it’s just right for everything i need: wallet, keys, 2 diapers, wipes, multitool, pepper spray, battery pack, meds, tq, sharpie, bic mini, booboo kit, g19 mos in holster attached to the lash point, spare mag. I removed the one pull tab on the ccw compartment and stage the zipper halfway. Can get the draw to be only a half second slower
I agree, probably the one I will get as I have too much crap for the small one. Glad to have a source for a good one. Tired of the Wally World kind with the cheap waist adjustment that you have to tie in a knot to fit, ugh.
@@standunitedorfall1863 Yeah don't even waste your time testing out the sizes. Even if I didn't carry, everything else would make the standard size a tight fit with no room for extras.
ever since my purse was stolen out of my car when i was still a teen, i have never left my purse behind or lost it having a fanny pack. i dont pack them heavy, usually slide to my hip until i need to open it. only move to my back if i have to do something it would interfere with on my front. otherwise, its very comfortable and reassuring knowing your valuables are close against your body. great review ! i get flack once in a blue moon about wearing it, but i didnt leave my purse in a uber ... EVER !!! :P
I have the XL version. I use the Vertx hook and loop universal holster which works perfectly for the bag. I can fit my Glock G45, outfitted with Surefire x300 light and Trijicon SRO, comfortably in the XL. I also have a SOF-T Wide tourniquet fitted in the tourniquet holder. The XL seems to be the best size, or like you said, standard size.
A Nut Ruck lol I use the hill people gear waist pack as well as their kit bag. I find it great for doctor appointments, workout sessions giving me the ability to have all of my stuff with me. The last place I think this shines is at night by my bed side. Imagine a scenario when I need to grab my stuff and go in whatever I am wearing. In a fire, hurricane, middle of the night ER visit I can grab my waist pack and go and I have everything I would normally leave the house with. Also great for wearing as a medical kit if you are using a rifle and the likelihood of needing a pistol is slim but you want a pistol anyways.
I wear a Maxpedition version of this style of pouch when I head down the creek with the dogs. It will hold a phone, sunglasses, multitool, wet wipes, lighter, flashlight, poo bags, coyote spray, and first aid in a fairly compact size. I would never remember all these items if not in a kit. I don’t know or care about fashion but on a hot day when your clothing has to be light with few pockets this setup seems less disheveled than other setups. A carabiner on the belt to hold the lead if needed and a water bottle and I’m good to go when the dogs give the signal.🇨🇦
I’ve used it and it’s ok. As Luke stated it’s not for quick draw. I put my double stack sub compact in it and it wasn’t comfortable wearing it in front for long periods.
I got one to primarily use as a range pouch and for around the camp. I like its versatility and options. I agree it’s slightly on the big side to be a EDC or CCW pouch.
I find it’s an ok bag. I agree, it is NOT a quick draw option. And for me the rear zipper doesn’t open on its own but refuses to move easily in any direction without some oomph.
I carry a sling bag to manage and transport the gear that I would use this product for. Larger capacity, better buckle and strap (basically a seat belt), throw it over one shoulder or cross body in the front or the back, and it’s not a F-pack that had it’s moment in about 1991 and should be permanently left there. Backpack or sling bag all the way, never this. Nice review! I’m sure it’s well made, I’ll just never buy or wear one.
OMG! I'm so glad you did this review! While looking for a new pack to replace them one I have now because it's wearing out. I was also trying to find one that I could use for ccw as well because I am having trouble carrying on body without printing. So far this has been the bag that has been at the top of my list of closest to what I'm looking for. I want to get the dark blue one. Unless they have came out with a purple one yet. 🤞I'm still hoping. It would be interesting to hear a review from Susie especially if she already has a bag kinda like it.
it works great for when i bum around the city. I carry med and all my edc stuff in there. I only wish it had a thin row of molle to clip on some water or keys. Also some pull tabs for the zippers like Mystery Ranch has would be the perfect addition.
i have a fanny pack that has about 7-8 years and it's a chinesium i bought at an ordinary store. because of the limited weight you can put into them fanny packs don't get that damaged. unless you abuse them, but that is true for everything in this world.
I actually bought one of these last week. It will be my "go to town bag" while I go to school in a liberal city. It fits my CCW and a small first aid kit in a way that doesn't scream "tactical." While CCW access isn't the fastest, staging the zippers and a little practice makes it sufficient. I agree with most of this review, but for my use case it's just what I needed.
It is funny how times change. 10 years ago you would get curb stumped for wearing a Fanny pack, but 20 years before that, you would have been a fashion icon.
That would be perfect for downhill skiing! Ski down the mountain with it in the back, slide it around to the front to get on the lift. Looks like there's room for my wallet, phone, keys, maybe even a 360ml HydraPak Softflask for water.
Great video and very informative. I've been looking very closely at both the standard and XL versions of this belt bag (I prefer the term belt bag over fanny pack). Based on your review, I think this is not the product for me. My main concern is quick access to my firearm, which it seems is just not available with this item. I do wear belt bags occasionally. Mostly when I'm wearing sweats in the winter time, or baggy shorts in the summertime. There's just nowhere to put a firearm, and all my other EDC. I would certainly not wear a belt bag with regular street clothes, pants and a shirt, etc. You're right about that; it's just not in style these days. But I always wear cargo pants, so there's always a place to stuff my EDC flashlight, multi-tool tourniquet, etc. So, I guess I'm still looking for a decent belt bag with good CCW options. Love your channel, great videos, keep it up!
It reminds me of the small first aid waist pouches we sometimes use when out with the scouts. They hold next to nothing in reality in my view that couldn't be carried in a small day sack.
I see this as a good product for people on the job...something to carry small tools of the trade in, like a cable guy and his splitters, adapters, maybe his crimping tool. For me, I'd go with a chest rig....I rocked a fanny pack in the 90's, I can't justify it today🤣
I have the same one. It’s ok , my usual pistol just fits. I don’t use it often, taken it on a few hikes, I’ve used the strap to hang a bear spray canister. Along with other eberlestock items, it’s got some bulk to the construction that seems to limit its useful space like it’s almost just big enough to put all the edc things. Quality is great and the gray is too gaudy.
No mention at the Eberlestock website that it is waterproof or water resistant. That is important when you are working hard and drenched in sweat in hot weather or wet weather conditions.
i like it looking civilian, my current version is literally from a yoga brand and it looks very nonthreatening on trail at parks and hiking spots i want to carry at without the expectation of fast access but want something for wildlife or odd scenario carry.
I have an old 'Uncle Mikes' Sidekick as us Brits call a Bum bag. I no longer carry with it but it is very good on hoilday. For wallet, passports phone ect. It can also be worn as a cross bag.
Thanks for this review. I have heard in the past that the word "fanny" is used in Europe somewhere to denote those of a certain persuasion. I'll leave it up to you to figure out what. I love waist packs, and don't care what anyone thinks. Have used them for years. But I do hate purses, and refuse to use them ever. I'm not a fashion junkie. I do what works for me because I think for myself. I would probably go for the larger size. I hope you do a review on that one too.
I’m still waiting for a company to make a waterproof/resistant version of something like this. I do a lot of fishing in waders where something like this would be perfect if waterproof. Would be easily accessible and not get in the way of my fishing vest (like a chest holster would) while keeping the ccw dry.
I like watching videos where I can see different knockoffs. If it looks well made, it saves time and I can reconsider if I really want to buy it kislux , or buy the real thing. It would be great to keep watching more videos like this if you have the time.
I might buy the larger version. I have a lot of 5:11 gear and when I have to take public transportation I get people accusing me of being a cop. One guy asked why me and the rest of the police department was following and harassing him. He was very aggressive about it. I had to get the security guard at the bus transfer station to chase him off. My clothing is typically Jeans or common looking shorts and T shirt . Shoes are common tennis/Sport shoes . I live near a military installation where there a lot of people with short hair. I have earrings so the only reason I would be accused of being a cop is the Tactical looking packs I use . I might try the large version. Hopefully it will be big enough for everything I need to carry. I would also have to get the extension so I can carry it like a sling.
Can you recommend something for women when we solo hike and want to carry? chest rig isn’t practical esp if you have big mounds. Something like this would be the next option I guess but I want something I can access pretty quickly. RN, I carry my PPD in my backpack, so if I need it I have to take the pack off wasting valuable time. I’m sure if I ask a bear or a deranged person to wait so I can access my PPD, they’ll comply. 😂 it’d be nice if Susie could test out some options and provide feedback.
What's up Luke? Like always, very informative. What I think this bag would be good for is carrying a small amount of camera gear on a short hike of some kind, that's all.
😐 Something like that needs two separate compartments that can except small padlocks for legal transportation, one for the firearm and one for the ammo
Eshay bag in Australia, A bag for teenage kids that hang around shops and buses and annoy people. But it is a good bag for an afternoon hike in an area you are familiar with to carry bits and pieces for kids or yourself where a backpack is to big and a shoulder bag swings around to much. I like it but way to expensive for that purpose, amazon has it for $85us which is $100au plus post! $100!
Hey luke hope u an suzie are doing well? Back in the day it was called a fanny pack but u can say as u wish. U can say u are packing or 🔫🔫 pew pew. UA-cam is definitely sticky on things like that but that is a great pack . Much love from Wyoming
I actually bought one of those for carry while jogging. So far, it's been pretty useless. It just isn't comfortable enough or stable enough to carry even something as small as my Glock 43.
Ty for the Eberlestock “Pack” review, Luke. I think it is so funny that you don’t call it what it is, a Fanny Pack. However, I think it should have multiple names based upon how you wear it, to be fair. After all, if you wear it on your hip area all the time, it serves no purpose in calling it by it’s known name. It should then be a “Hip Pack” 😎. Or if worn in front, possibly call it a “Groin Pack/Protector” 😄. In any case, I feel that they serve a civilian roll in carrying a smaller amount of gear without the need to lug around a daypack backpack or sling bag that might be overkill for certain outings. That said, I have seen grown men carrying around worse “Man Purses” than this or similar “Lumbar Packs”. As for this one, I would not buy this compared to cheaper “tactical” style ones that are bigger to carry a full size firearm, (if that is what you want to do), and have elastic cord or molle attachment points to hold items on the outside. (Amazon sells a few). Otherwise I think chest rigs or sling bags are better for filling this role and don’t look so “Man Purseish”. Anything greater in volume that is needed then would go to the small backpack.
P.S. Luke, as far as talking about firearms goes on UA-cam, I just think it depends on who does the talking. There are several channels that cover this topic and are NOT banned or penalized, such as Garande Thumb, of whom that is Mostly what he discusses on his channel in Detail. Now I don’t know if being a former military AF Spec Ops soldier has anything to do with UA-cam letting him do what he does and not allow you to talk about yours. However if anyone has safe, operating knowledge regarding firearms and wants to share it on their channel, I see nothing wrong with that. (perhaps you just need to prove to UA-cam you are certified in some way) ???
😂😂😂 Yes, men and women can use them. They are very handy, plus your hands are free. For me, they are safer than carry my purse. . I carry one all the time. This is the first time that I've heard that name, Bando pack. I always knew that by the other, now unmentionable "f" word. 😂😂😂which in Europe has a really different meaning. So from now on I will call it a "pouch". Thank you, Luke. I really like the Bando pouch.😊

The lack of a water bottle holder is a deal breaker for me. My current pack has 2 and plenty of storage
I’m still waiting for a company to make a waterproof/resistant version of something like this. I do a lot of fishing in waders where something like this would be perfect if waterproof. Would be easily accessible and not get in the way of my fishing vest (like a chest holster would) while keeping the ccw dry.
You mentioned Savotta Askare. Would love to see your review!
Any chance your going to take a look at the r8.8 sleeping pad from naturehike
Would love a review of the Hill People Gear's EDC Snubby fanny pack. Is it worth the high price tag?
Thanks for the video! I know something’s related to the pack are “touchy”
Thank you for the review I had been looking at this.
Wallet, docs, and your weapon. Seems big enough for the purpose
I have the Bandit XL and really like it
I would use that if I. Hiking or camping with my 72 hour backpack
I wonder how UA-cam views the Byrna Launcher in videos?
non lethal and approved for all states, no permits needed.
Ive compared that bag to my 511 LVC6..ill stick with the 511 or my HPG
Can you recommend something for women when we solo hike and want to carry? chest rig isn’t practical esp if you have big mounds. Something like this would be the next option I guess but I want something I can access pretty quickly. RN, I carry my PPD in my backpack, so if I need it I have to take the pack off wasting valuable time. I’m sure if I ask a bear or a deranged person to wait so I can access my PPD, they’ll comply. 😂 it’d be nice if Susie could test out some options and provide feedback.
Side wearing pack aka sustainment pouch/bag.
What's up Luke? Like always, very informative. What I think this bag would be good for is carrying a small amount of camera gear on a short hike of some kind, that's all.
You can’t get a camera or even a lens in this bag
@@coryhoggatt7691 That's deep Luke. I've gotten a camera body and lens in shaving kit bags.
I love it I'm picking one up from your link thanks great video
I rock a aikendo brand from Amazon. Just for safety supplies 💨
G43 censored. Cool looking Fanny pack.
Luke, l suggest you watch the move "Fanny Hill"..... I'm gonna watch it later myself.
I love this fanny pack. Got 2
But that fanny pack looks outstanding on you!
Savotta has a great one
High above lookout pack is 100x the pack
In the UK they call them bum bags
For.......reasons. 😂
@@barlotardy Bum is another word for fanny.
The US and UK, 2 nations separated by a common language 😁
@@AngryPict
Yep. 👍
I love it! I have the standard and XL version and carry it daily. Did a review on my channel of both as well.
Thanks for sharing! Strength and Honor.
So what “pack” do u recommend for a hand gun?
Are the zippers good quality YKK?
Enjoyed the review. Agree that “tactical fanny pack” is a hilarious term.
I guess you have to CCW when the fanny pack bullies try to kick your butt.
I actually bought one of those for carry while jogging. So far, it's been pretty useless. It just isn't comfortable enough or stable enough to carry even something as small as my Glock 43.
Luke how are things going can you get to grocery store and how is your land did you get it taken care of and could we see Susie
Great now I can complete my suburban Dad drip
In the UK we call it a Bum bag!
Aye, but a bum is quite the different kettle of fish in the US.
@@scotbotvideos Ooo please tell me! I'm assuming someone like a hobo or homeless person?
@@rozwood1668 That's it exactly.
It's European. 😅
I have this…strap is too short. I ordered the extension which is stupid it should have come with.
I always thought Fanny packs go on your back hints fanny pack
Nekem Gurkha van. Teljesen jó.
You can choose not to say it but it’s a fanny pak. lol great review
Bum Bag 🏴
I must have missed the explanation about the ear plugs. Watched it twice and missed it
44 inches isn't big enough for my waist it's got to be at least 46 can you come across something like that in a 46 at least really appreciate it bro be safe take care ciao for now
This is a Fanny(h) pack, the h is silent
Fire Arm Noone (k)nows you have
As far a using a bag for firearm carry makes no sense to me unless its just a backup.
Wear it with the Numbat for the full bra and pants look.........
pick your battle you remind them that there are gun channels out there etc and youll contact your lawyer
Fanny means something completely different here in the UK. 😂
Awesome video!
Luke I have three or four military butt packs. If you want one let me know and I will send it out.
