- This video charts the progress of the "Gone Fishing" project held recently in Greencastle Community Centre, County Donegal. The project researched the local heritage of lobster pots in this fishing village. We collected willow and re-learnt the skills of how to weave this interestingly-shaped basket.

What an interesting video. I've never seen before how these are made! Thank you!🙂👍🏼
Thanks for watching!
Great film and great to see how much everyone enjoyed the experience. 😊🌿🌳
Very cool, love your videos when they come around. Keep up the good work. Best wishes from across the pond...
Just awsome! greetings from new zealand!
I have an odd request, could you make a tutorial on how to weave a rabbit hide (dome with an opening/tunnel)?
Still not sure what that is?
Are you weaving the willow when it is green?
It's not green as in freshly cut, but green coloured bark on dried rods , soaked in water
Interesting as always 👍
Is there a specific variety of willow you recommend for making baskets like this?
Nothing specific, we used salix purpurea, but any rods should do.
@@BigGreenArt Ok great thanks.
Going to catch naught with the gaps lol
How do you get the lobster out?
Ha! Design fault! I've seen them with detachable lids, that makes more sense now. Well spotted!
According to a fisherman friend the lobster backs in to the pot, and you take it out tail first.
