Great lesson. I once played with a professional jazz guitar player in a trio. He said to me: Bill - I don't care what notes you hit, I just care when you hit them.
Been playing along to your lessons for a bit but this was the first one I could play along to and I felt like I was starting to feel like a jazz piano player!!! I'm gonna keep following and keep practicing thank you for putting out good stuff
Great video Kent. I haven't played along to this yet , but this addresses a weakness of mine as I've stated before. I appreciate that you explain it from it's most basic and the take it up to an advanced level. I always look forward to your videos. Thank you again
Thank you very much for this and all the other things you have been teaching me. Wish I found you sooner! I'm an aspiring saxophonist trying not to become too enamored with your beaucoup piano😂
I needed this, Kent! Thank you so much!! And it's great to see you. I always enjoy your videos and love your book. You are such a special part of my piano journey. ❤
The song is "Sometimes I'm Happy". That's my trio playing the Oscar Peterson arrangement. Here's Oscar's version : ua-cam.com/video/QUj139N6-mc/v-deo.html
Sorry, this was a really complicated video to make, and I'm disappointed that the resolution wasn't better, and something didn't work out better with the editing software.. Thanks for watching.
well that’s fun and yes please, a part 2, thanks for making my scary piano journey light hearted and authentic.
Very cool comment...I did a 2nd version...check my playlists.
Basic mistakes are my forte Thank you for your continued selfless guidance Kent
You are very welcome!

@@KentHewittpiano88 What is the music that introduces this video ?
Kent is the Keith Richards jazz piano riff master
I'll take that as a compliment!

What are you watching on? It looks fine on my phone and tablet. Certainly good enough for a free lesson from a jazz great…
