Mr. Scheffler stated he "did not want to sue because the taxpayers would foot the bill"; however, there's a remedy to that: sue the officer as an individual to ensure he never gets a full paycheck the rest of his life, or settle the case if the officer agrees to resign from the department and never seek law enforcement employment in the future. I'm sorry, this officer at best emboldened his story and at worst lied; he must be held accountable and not just subjected to some in-house sanction by the agency because he "forgot to turn on his bodycam." Did he forget, or was it deliberate? This officer must pay the price for his treachery.

THE STATE IS OBLIGATED TO PROSECUTE ALL OFFICERS INVOLVED...
the Prosecutor is as corrupt as the Police...
the "Officer" committed false arrest, false imprisonment, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, mis-malfeasance, falsifying charges, falsifying government documents, deprivation of rights; the "Officer" is also the sole cause if 95% of his injuries latching onto a moving automobile when he could have (being an accident scene recreation expert) instead pounded on the hood or trunk to get the driver's attention...
the Prosecutor is also REQUIRED to disclose exculpatory evidence, AND prosecute the "Officer" if there is evidence of the "Officers" wrong doing...
If there is any true Justice the "Officer" should not be being treated as thought everything he did was lawful, and everything Scottie did was unlawful...🤔

This is how it should be but we forget how many people that aren’t famous get convicted of a crime they didn’t commit because a police officer got in his feelings. Cops lie and get away with it all the time and when caught nothing happens to them. They should be fired and charged. There’s reason they “forget” to put body camera on. That should not be okay. Police lying because of their feelings ruins innocent people’s life everyday. Cop never held accountable. I’m so glad Scottie’s charges were dropped but we need to think about those who aren’t famous and go thru this. Im horribly sorry for the families loss that started all this.

Even though the Officer was obviously in the wrong and made up false accusations I suspect the only reason the charges were dropped is because of who Scottie is. The average John Q Public citizen would probably still be in jail waiting for his court date and attempting to obtain a decent court appointed lawyer. Money and fame brings with it immense power including the ability to circumvent the legal process that everyone else would have a very hard time trying to navigate. This is an excellent example of the stark divide between the "haves" and the "have nots" and just goes to show how morally and legally corrupt the country has become. If everyone truly got a fair trial encompassing the entire judiciary there would be a lot less poor people in prison.

Scariest part is if this was John or Jane Doe instead of someone with name recognition, this never would have come to this conclusion and they would still be In jail.

He seems to skip over the part about how the cop lied and then later tried to get Scheffler to confess to a crime that never happened. He was not dragged, he was not assaulted, nor did Scottie disobey police directives. They are lucky Scottie is not of a mind to sue them for false arrest, submitting a false charging statement, and illegal incarceration. This is a troubled and troubling police department but they are not alone, especially in the deep south where the police are unaccountable for their actions. Let's pay attention to that.

While it's important to acknowledge the cultural disparities and imbalances in our justice system highlighted by Scottie Scheffler's case, we shouldn't vilify all police officers. Many officers work diligently to keep our communities safe. Instead of resorting to sweeping generalizations, let's focus on constructive criticism and push for reforms that ensure fair treatment for everyone. Respecting those who serve while advocating for a more just and equitable system benefits us all.

Just to clarify, it’s the Police arrested and brought charges Scheffler, not the DA. The DA had nothing to do with it. Once charges are brought forward from the PD after their investigation the DA decides whether to move forward with the case or not.
A large part of any DA’s job (one that isn’t discussed amongst the general public) is throwing cases where the officers violated the suspect’s constitutional rights or charged a person with insufficient evidence.
It’s the DA’s job to drop charges when there is a bad case. This guy definitely milked the opportunity for attention, but he and his office were in no way responsible or played any role in the arrest.
A lot of people’s comments are implying or outright stating that the DA worked with the police to arrest Scheffler. They did not.

Common sense will tell you the answer.
