Yeah I was born late 60s so I got to experience all the great music of the 60s 70s, some 80s were ok and liked the 90s especially. I was so glad I was born when I was.

My theory is this: LPs were sellable but bulky CDs came along and distribution costs halved (because units shifted doubled for same effort) CDs sold the same as LPs, therefore profit Profit = strong industry = lots of good work and innovation Napster came along, money fell out of industry, industry participants (ie artists) left profit made by selling ring tones - hence crazy frog charting itunes made music profitable again, but far less so than the golden era of CD distribution music money now earned through one hit wonders on youtube - eg Gangnam style. Very few full albums that are works of art in their entirety a-la Avalanches since I left you or moon safari by air, or any of the amazing hit-packed albums of the 90s. The golden age of music is over.
I wonder sometimes how after no marketing, no avenue to promote this except MTV did this song make its way to India. Every school party, Every car music system, Every night club had people dancing to this. Today's kids have no idea about what fun actually is. Thank you dear(est) 90s.
