The uvk5 is quite nice. Comparing to a Radtel it disappointed me a bit on receiving milsat but it was slightly more sensitive then my stabo receiver and my yaesu handheld.
The cracked firmware and the price is the strongest asset for this piece.

At 8:45 you press the M button which highlights the fist of 8 choices. Could you tell me what the 8 choices are for? IF and MIC I will assume is I.F like in Intermediate Frequency

This is the best firmware so far in my opinion. This will also work on the Radtel 590. Receives from 10.000 to 1300.000 and transmit from 14.000 to 1300.000.
that is some crazy frequency range
I don't see a Radtel build in the Github... Are you using the K5 build? K6? how is overall compatibility? are any features broken on that radio?

I have just ordered a few to have a mess about with, it's unfortunate that the prices advertised on aliexpress inflate before you pay and they claim to be adding VAT at 20% on behalf of the UK Government - that is nonsense ! Radios at £9 were £14 at the checkout...
Great little radio, can't wait to have a play and also see how good it is with 2m/70cm - I will definitely use it as a wideband RX.

I caught another video but unfortunately for me it was not in English describing what I believe a different firmware allowing
DSB (Double Side Band) for Transmit. Have you heard of that yet and if so have you tried it. I want to try one of these
but so many modded bins out there. I downloaded the bin your showing and might give it a go.
Would there be a explanation how to use the new features? (What buttons do what) Also would you know if this firmware has the improved AM quality?

Received the UV-K5(8) yesterday, and tried uploading custom firmware via a laptop with windows server and at 16% i got a BSOD :) I thought, ok, i bricked the UV-K5, but no! it just could be started up with the white led and was succesfully upgraded via another windows 10 pc... so wow i'm so happy with it and so glad it didnt brick when the 16% BSOD happened!
and for now, the AM FIX (airband) sounds a lot better with strong signals, but with weak signals the noise/hiss is louder then it should be imo, but maby when the programmers can get more information on how to program that chip, maby they can update the am fix better... srry for the grammer..

Wow. I'm an old ham, but I just ordered one. I still want a HT that will do ssb and FM on 10 meters on the xmit side. I know this will technically do it, but it's not efficient at all, plus it has all kinds of spurious radiation.
I ordered one of these from Aliexpress to use as a portable receiver. I sold a Realistic 10 channel scanner last year for $50 which is probably worth next to nothing now...

Also just a beginner. But antennas are designed for certain frequencies and the original one is probably just designed for 70cm

No filters for transmit, splatters everywhere else with more power than on the freq itself, just tried it into a dummy load through an SA.
Might be a stupid question, but I’m new. Can I pick receive frequencies outside my antenna’s stated range? I have a foldable 136-460 antenna. Will it pick up cb frequencies?

It's a very good firmware. But I have a question: is there any way to disable transmission on other bands but radio amateurs (enable TX only in radio amateurs band). With this firmware, I can transmit even in aerial (planes) band and commercial bands. Thank you.

How do you switch to SSB and bring up the table etc and have the backlight on all the time ?
Ssb - push fm button to Switch to AM/FM/USB
the table - push PTT button

Yes there needs to be a radio made to transmit 5w on 52, 29 mhz Fm then work onnssb lsb and usb model . Bring back the magnum 1012

When I go to the firmware page for which you have provided the link, there are several firmware upgrades by fagci for this radio. Which one of these upgrades enables the features that you show in this video? 73 Mark KK2L.

Hi paul chris from north wales UK just done the firmware with success but no sound on the shortwave bands i managed to get it down on 4mhz so i hope i can listen to worldband broadcasts on this upgrade am i doing something wrong having no sound the squelch is on 0

Please excuse my ignorance everyone,as I'm very green when it comes to radios etc.
My question is,if the firmware is updated on this radio,one will be able to also transmit on ssb?
I don't have the funds to outlay expensive equipment,however i live remotely in Australia and the area is quite good for receiving skip early in the mornings and evenings.Was hoping this unit with the mod might be able to get me some enjoyment in my retirement years without breaking the bank.

Yupp most of these cheap Chinese tranceivers are SDR. Being a SDR developer myselve i know it jst wasd a mather of time that the real inovative software versions would appear

Will the radio tune more finely for example 27.78125 instead of 27.78000 as the CB sounded off frequency in your demonstration. I guess im asking if it has 12.5khz steps?

Wow! I have the Radtel RT890 which has the same chip, the BK4819 and it also tunes from 18MHz. to 1.3GHz. but does not receive on the CB frequency, even with "hacked" FW with SSB. Well, at least not yet.
But this video does show that it can.

How did you got Windows to recognmize this device? I tried to install the driver, but I get a "language not supported" message on both Wiindows 10 and 11...
Signal goes straight into DSP and DSP provides digital filters.
i think it sounds good, detailed & well intelligible in SSB voice, i noticed that very quickly when hearing SSB voice from that little HT. the dynamic range in that HT must be high. how is the audioquality with headphones? it sounds high pitched in the video, like bass is missing, maybe that is different when listening with headphones. amazing how low the price for that thing currently is, less than 17€ (new) in the net inlcuding delivery. i would like bluetooth in a HT to connect a bt headset. i dont mind 2m & 70cm and would instead rather have more transmittpower in HF in a HT that small sized. when on a hilltop with a 1/4 wave long antenna (without shortening coils) there will be alot more DX to hear, i wonder what else there is to hear.
There are BT adapters for these radios available for a few years already, as a dongle on the audio jacks

Yes of course. On all available frequencies. Latest IJV even transmit CW and virtual DSB mode.
