The uvk5 is quite nice. Comparing to a Radtel it disappointed me a bit on receiving milsat but it was slightly more sensitive then my stabo receiver and my yaesu handheld. The cracked firmware and the price is the strongest asset for this piece.

At 8:45 you press the M button which highlights the fist of 8 choices. Could you tell me what the 8 choices are for? IF and MIC I will assume is I.F like in Intermediate Frequency and MIC could be the Mic gain? What do the others represent? Thanks, Ken

I have just ordered a few to have a mess about with, it's unfortunate that the prices advertised on aliexpress inflate before you pay and they claim to be adding VAT at 20% on behalf of the UK Government - that is nonsense ! Radios at £9 were £14 at the checkout... Great little radio, can't wait to have a play and also see how good it is with 2m/70cm - I will definitely use it as a wideband RX.

Received the UV-K5(8) yesterday, and tried uploading custom firmware via a laptop with windows server and at 16% i got a BSOD :) I thought, ok, i bricked the UV-K5, but no! it just could be started up with the white led and was succesfully upgraded via another windows 10 pc... so wow i'm so happy with it and so glad it didnt brick when the 16% BSOD happened!
and for now, the AM FIX (airband) sounds a lot better with strong signals, but with weak signals the noise/hiss is louder then it should be imo, but maby when the programmers can get more information on how to program that chip, maby they can update the am fix better... srry for the grammer..
Yupp most of these cheap Chinese tranceivers are SDR. Being a SDR developer myselve i know it jst wasd a mather of time that the real inovative software versions would appear

Please excuse my ignorance everyone,as I'm very green when it comes to radios etc. My question is,if the firmware is updated on this radio,one will be able to also transmit on ssb? I don't have the funds to outlay expensive equipment,however i live remotely in Australia and the area is quite good for receiving skip early in the mornings and evenings.Was hoping this unit with the mod might be able to get me some enjoyment in my retirement years without breaking the bank. Any comments would be gratefully received.
It's a very good firmware. But I have a question: is there any way to disable transmission on other bands but radio amateurs (enable TX only in radio amateurs band). With this firmware, I can transmit even in aerial (planes) band and commercial bands. Thank you.

I flashed my radio twice at first using the Egzumer v0.22 then the one you are using and on both firmware I can only receive AM signals not SSB signals I put it on SSB mode with an external base antenna and I don't receive anything I can only hear the background RX signals but no voice and if I connect the same antenna to my HF radio there is a lot of activity on the same frequency do you have an idea why? Is there a extra setting to make it work? I also notice that I can't go to other bands like 20 or 40 meters.

I tried to connect the K6 to Chirp and received the following error message "Memory download incomplete". I am using the new Chirp-next release and a Baofeng programming cable. I cannot find any other references to that message. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yes there needs to be a radio made to transmit 5w on 52, 29 mhz Fm then work onnssb lsb and usb model . Bring back the magnum 1012

Also just a beginner. But antennas are designed for certain frequencies and the original one is probably just designed for 70cm

From what i seen these are 2 meter so does the mew firmware change that

What camera are you using? I can't get the info to show up on my camera with that bright orange backlight on the UV-K5.
