In my opinion, in terms of spectacle the third trial takes the cake as the best part of the game, but in terms of best fight and music Ranrok takes the cake by far.
If it wasn't for our character hogwarts would have been destroyed and Harry potter would never have been. Its so amazing how important our character is to the wizarding world
We are the reason why Professor Binns keeps droning on about the goblin rebellion. In reality he's just so awestruck by our accomplishments
I hope we get a sequel that explores more of the wizarding world outside of Hogwarts

We fought a goblin warlord in the form of a dragon infused with tons of ancient magic pulled from the emotions of hundreds of people. Harry Potter just fought a guy without a nose.

This soundtrack is genuinely one of the most perfect final boss themes ever created in my opinion, it has such a heroic and epic tone to it that still really fits in with the Harry Potter side of things. Proof that a good soundtrack can really make a difference to a game, I felt myself fighting harder against ranrok simply because the music was pushing me to. I've not felt like this since the mass effect 2 suicide mission theme

I like how this is one of the only games where the final boss music is kind of uplifting and even happy, instead of just epic and menacing
I think the word you're looking for is hopeful. Uplifting and hopeful, a heavy story in a beautifully lighthearted and positive setting, enchanted by wizarding world magic
Shriek and Ori (the final boss theme in Ori and the Will of the Wisps) is like this. About halfway through, your character's theme starts overtaking the boss' theme.

It gradually gets more hopeful as you start wearing Ranrok down. With it reaching the crescendo during the final phase when it's obvious you're winning.
I would advise playing journey. No boss fight but the end gives you the same emotional vibe.
Having all the professors come in to fight the hoards of goblins to let you get to Ranrok was so satisfying. It’s really cool to see faculty prove why they’re faculty.
Then the whole Ranrok fight was visually great. Combat in this game is simple yet deceptively fun and this fight took every aspect of it and applied everything you’d learned while playing the game. Made for a rewarding fight even if it wasn’t very hard lol
Also the fact that ancient magic attacks are the most effective way to take Ranrok down is a nice touch, like the magic itself wanted Ranrok to go down rather than be used by him.

All the goblin armor and the wobbly ancient magic temples with their guardians were grossly incoherent with established visual themes and looked more star wars than anything ww

It's been many years that I've felt this "surge of awesomeness" in a videogame soundtrack.
This soundtrack certainly does the bossfight justice with it's phases.
It's simple yet effective. 10/10 would recommend.
It reminds me of Id Purpose from Fire Emblem Awakening. Not the music itself but the feeling of it, like it really fits as a final boss battle theme.
Played ff7 remake? That Jenova battle and new music is also just utterly fantastic.

9:09 hit hard for me when I played this boss battle. Ranrok was at his weakest and was desperate to kill me. But I was carrying the hope for not just Hogwarts, but the entire Wizarding World on my shoulders. It was time to end it. The battle between pure evil and the good was at its climax. I also loved it when my voiceline came, "You can't stop me!"

I loved it. Made it the more annoying I died 6 times in the final sequence, was playing underleveled normal mode and wiggenwelds weren't restored after death🤣
Also when Ranrok yelled “YOUR PITIFUL MAGIC IS NO MATCH FOR MINE, CHILD!” That hit hard.
And at the end, when Professor Fig says to the main character “you’re stronger than you know”. Bruh that hit me on a personal level

Very few games have ever made me so focused on something ever. This game, this final boss however, for the first time in years, put me in the ZONE. The last time this happened, was in 2018. I wish I could erase my memory of this fight so I could go back and re-experience this fight once again.
Having the professors come to help in the battle was nice........but what would have been nicer was to have also fellow students, like of course Sebastian and Omimis come to help, with Natty and Poppy, and even some friends from Hogsmeade join the fight.
As files were already in the game to have a companion, it was most likely the case that you could take people on sidequests with you. I'll be trying out the mod that allows that soon, hoping that I'll be able to fight bosses with help
@@royalheadquarters8449 you definitely were supposed to have companions. Some of them still have quest specific lines with the companions mod. Sebastian makes remarks on a couple of different side quests lol

Involving other students would have been extremely dangerous on behalf of the teachers.
If anything was to happen to any of them, the headmaster would have been dismissed and replaced at best. There are rules in place, which is why normally students are not allowed to walk at night, travel there and there. The game neglected that aspect very much

Ranrok was the hardest boss I have fought, but hearing the music made me fight harder. This game is so good, I love it.

I would recommend both Witcher 3 DLC if you haven’t done them. Absolutely brilliant, they’re really close to being games on their own and they provide great boss fights, namely the one in Iris quest for Heart of Stone and the final fight of the main quest for Blood and Wine

This game is a masterpiece, definitively worth every buck and worth playing it. Everything in this game is well made
One of my favourite final boss OST's ever made. The music in this game is absolutely amazing. I've played games like the souls series for years, even Final Fantasy 15, and in both of those game titles the music is absolutely incredible, and I'm putting this game up there with those games because the music is so good. Honestly I could listen to this song on repeat all day lol

@@sncarsounds I played FF15 last year in January while I was waiting for Elden Ring to come out, and I went into it completely blind having never played a FF game before and it very quickly became number 1 game of all time. I ended up getting the platinum trophy for it in just 9 days, and in those 9 days I'd racked up like 160 hours of play time. It was hella fun and I still play it occasionally (also that game's graphics are absolutely stunning on 4K HDR on PS5 😍)

Wow! The story this music tells is outstanding! The highs and lows, the whimsical motifs, the heroic trumpets paired with the mystical strings, and the swells of powerful music perfectly fit with the battle and really portray how powerful you both are. I’m still laughing about how I was losing my mind while playing and hearing it for the first time. Thank you for posting this!

I love it, this music is really inspiring and full of courage for the final fight I will never get tired of it and honestly hearing this music gives me chills. I can't wait for him to make a sequel to this game and it's exactly the kind of game I love to play.

some of the musical patterns and the movements reminded me of the monster hunter world kulve taroth seige, which made me love this even more. the cinematics were also so epic holy crap. such a shame we cant rewatch the cinematics of our character after completing.

This was one of they best boss battles right there next to Hades. It was fun. The music was perfect. And you felt like an adventurer reaching the conclusion of their journey.
It’s so badass that I’m not the only one that felt this way about the final battle. I did not know this was the end and I didn’t even bother going back to make more wiggenweld potion so my heart was pounding! This music definitely got me pumped man and I just kept pushing lol

As you're walking towards the red bulging mass, he casts a spell in your back to which you instinctively Protego. You turn around with a glint of madness in your eyes.
"..."
"Bombarda!" He yells, his wrist slightly flinching. You deflect again and again. The last spell packs more of a punch as Fig s resolve grows. He would not stand idly and watch as you deytroy Miriam s dream. He was wrong for training you, grooming you into the witch he so desperately wanted you to be. He would heed his advice this time. But for the time being, he has to put an end to your plans... to you...
Your purple shield flickers as you're pushed back, your feet sliding on the cold metal ground.
"So be it-..."
You raise your wand, channeling the soul stealing spell as the ground shakes anew. Ranrok got to the repository first and he's transformed. There ensues a 3 way battle between you, Fig, and the now dragon formed goblin. It's an epic battle for the years to tell, and every cheap shot you can take at Fig, you do. Till eventually, your true potential awakes and you overcome your two opponents. Ranrok is reduced to mere lumps of misty red flesh, whereas Fig is now being lifted in the air, unable to fend for himself. With a flick of the wrist, you disarm him.... with the first spell he's ever taught you. How poetic
"You... pathetic old man..." (you utter with the right amount of disgust)
"Y/n..." (he nearly whimpers)
"You thought you could stop me... shackle me like Percival did with Isidora, but you were wrong.
"I only sought to protect you-"
"Protect me?" (You interrupt him and with a flick of your wand bring him to you)
There's a moment of silence where he can only begrudgingly whimper under your spell
"Seems like you ought to heed your own lessons, professor,
And as you slowly lifts him away and further into the air, his face is one of failure and despair.

It was a great ride through!
Absolutely great fight. The visuals, the soundtrack. The only thing missing for me was the challenge. I did the fight at level 38, with maxed-out legendary gear and damage-optimized talents + I had 5 full bars of ancient magic power. The entire thing took me a few minutes and I only used 1 potion. I wish the game would have had a difficulty more challenging than 'Hard', because well, it wasn't that, because I did everything else beforehand. Other than that,10/10 My only hope is that this gem of a game won't be forgotten by the end of the year when game awards take place, as these things usually tend to happen :/ HUGE applause to Portkey Games
Part of it is that once you get the rhythm of the fight down it's not that difficult. Really that's all fights.Took me a while to really master the use of Protego, Stupefy, and Swift Dodge. Once I did, though even the final Ranrok battle wasn't that tough even on Hard. Honestly, this game isn't really meant to be a challenge... it's a Harry Potter simulator.
There’s some difficulty mods where people change health and damage values of enemies. But with the timings, even if you do that you’re still going to just be dodging everything anyways probably so you won’t even notice value changes lol. I saw a different mod that removes the orange and red block and dodge indicators though, so you’d have to learn enemy movements enough to know when to block and dodge yourself rather than the game telling you.
Tried it like 20 times without any Healing Potions, then found one in the final arena and finally did it!

I did this fight at level 24 with a full set of wiggenweld potions. Had been playing the game for 26 hours straight prior and thought this would be an easy fight. By the final phase I was completely out of potions and still hadn’t figured out that his coloured defence things required the matching coloured spell, was on literally like the smallest amount of hp left by the time I figured it out, then managed to get his health bar back and completely kicked his ass. Thought I was gonna die tho bc we were both at a tiny amount of health but by pure luck managed to land the final hit and won. Gotta say it was the hardest but also best boss I ever played
I had decently high expectations, and this game way, way outshined them. Bravisaimo to Portkey Games, will definitely be keeping an eye out for them in the future.

It would have been nice to have a TRUE bad ending where you actually become an authentic dark wizard that betrays the guardians and uses ancient magic for evil.
All the endings are pretty much the same and nothing changes.
I wish Sebastian's questline would've had more options too. The literal only choice you make in the entire thing that has any effect is the very last choice you get to make (to turn Sebastian in or not). I wish our character didn't have to be an enabler. It felt like the way the quest went was how the quest should've gone if you had selected every bad choice to get a bad ending lol

@@razrv3lc Agree, I wanted to send Sebastian to hell, right after he insulted me for talking to Lodgok, pushed me about the keepers, and proceeded to order me to learn the ancient magic required to “heal” his sister’s pain (whatever that means).
I also didn’t want to do Natsai’s and Poppy’s quests, they felt so intrusive and bossy towards me… tangling me up into their business… like “The hell leave me alone! I do NOT want to do auror self righteous job or find some sort of birds!” You don’t even ask it politely in your owls.
Perhaps there are people who would have joined them… I wouldn’t, there should have been the option to decline everyone you wished to and still complete the game’s challenges at 100%.
The only quest I voluntarily wanted to do was Sebastian’s, until I found out he turned out to be a manipulative jerk who was taking advantage of the favors he did in my behalf and was toxic towards the MC (me) a lot. Also a dar wizard in the making.

Despite how many times i died in this battle not even once i felt frustrated bcs of the music. Besides, i didnt even consider drinking hell out if my potions' stock wanting to defeat Ran with my pure skill
Just got into the ACOTAR series and I listened to this track while re-reading chapters 58-59 in ACOMAF. I think it amps the intensity up and goes pretty well with the sort ‘fight scene’ vibe in that part of the book

I just finished the game. Not gonna lie, I have mixed feelings. Until the very end, it felt like the game lacked soul. And then, boom. The final boss was super hyped up, a lot of mechanics (some of which would have went perfect with minor tweakings though but almost perfect), super good climax on some characters, good boss fight and SUPERB music. However, I feel like this is what should have happened more often in the game. We had a ton of opportunities to have cool boss fights like this one. Jeez, it's hard not to spoil so I'll just point it out without spoiling; there are a bunch of deaths in the game (obviously) but there is one death that felt stupid to me. Specially since close to the ending we have another one much better done. But that one feels useless and pretty damn bad acted. They did overuse a ton of assets and enemies, and oh boy, how cool this game would have been if they had spent more time in developing fights like that final one.
Both that and the way we control the spells should have been better designed. Still, the game is cool and if you are a fan you will probably love it. I'm not a hardcore fan and still clocked in 50 hours before finishing it (addicted to sidequest, yeah). And I still got stuff to do, but no rush.
The best thing in the game is how good it looks. Well, right now there are visual bugs on PC at least so that's ironic but still, you can see how the textures are super well made and the models too. I loved how pretty the game looked, that was amazing. If we get DLCs, I'm gonna play them for sure.
I wish there had been more options leading up to that first death you mentioned that felt badly done. That whole questline felt like it should’ve had different outcomes based on your choices. The one we got felt like what would’ve happened had you made consistently poor choices. Makes it hard to play it again because you know exactly where it’s going and can’t do anything to stop it.
"You think I will go easy on you, Ranrok? I Crucio poachers for fun! I'm not trapped here with you, you are trapped here with ME! And this is gonna hurt you bloody more than me!" my Hufflepuff witches xD

at the final phase had a max of all potions and combat plants. didn't use them all but a good amount I was like when thunder brew was going off with stone skin and plants every where attacking ranrok. I was like man. to bad no bodies watching because this fight has got to be epic to watch! I would of been like now that is a battle of equals! firing off all spell in my kit from basic to avadra kedavra, there was no holding back. it was just pure awesomeness all round.

Yeah I agree with Jake here....after what we did to this abomination of magical energy. Voldemort and grindelwald would be easy as hell.
@@MrMilkyCoco This is a bit of a bad thing to admit but this is the first game I stepped out of my comfort zone to normal difficulty on the first playthrough. And that fight had me stumped.
Voldemort, Grindelwald and Dumbledore combined would be no match for our character. Who else in the HP universe can kill multiple people with a single avada kedavra?
@@pizzaparker9464 No one. Also this character seems to win over everyone and based on decisions can be really kind and then manipulative in the same conversation. And they show no compassion for the curses they use.
Alot of game music hits hard, but this might just hit the hardest

bro i went into this fight with literally 0 potions. on hard it took me at least an hour or two in total.
Started out fight with losing no health on 1st 2 stages, lost all my potions on stage 3 but still clutched it in the end.
Honestly I think there should have been a secret ending where our character helps Ranrok realize that not all wizards and witches are evil and because of that, Ranrok could help take down Harlow showing that despite his past with wizardkind, he still wants to take down at least the dark wizards like Rookwood and Harlow and that even people(goblins in this case) aren’t as bad as Sebastian Sallow claims. Not that Lodgok and the other goblins like him that you find throughout the game aren’t enough. Don’t get me wrong though, the final battle against Ranrok was tense and the music was epic. I loved it either way.
