    I like groom & clean better, I apply it to my hair after a shower & IMO I feel the product makes your hair look better if you just mess it up a little after a few hours of applying it to break any stiff clumps so your hair doesnt have that wet/gel spiky look? Brylcreem is ok but its just a bit too greasy & has a strong smell, I was a bit self conscious about it & having a greasy mark on your pillow is annoying. My G&C tube is almost finished & im hoping there are some available in my area.

      Sadly, as of March of 2022, Groom & Clean is no longer available for purchase on the Wal Mart stores. They discontinued carrying it for some strange reason.

    That's much more than a "Dab"! I use half that much on twice the hair.

      Correct way to use it. Only a small application is necessary as a little goes a long way.

    I've tried both :D Here's what I notice.
    Brylcreem smells good. When used in small amounts, it can provide a dry hold. I put in about half the amount you do and fully work it through my hair. If my hands still have Brylcreem on them after I'm done, I have used too much and my hair looks greasy or oily. It looks nice and adds some sheen. It also seems to add volume to my hair. My hair is also thicker, yours looks finer. Wet hair for me isn't a problem. I've tried Murray's Pomade and I had to wait until my hair dried and that was a real pain.
    Groom & Clean. It smells a bit funky. It's bottle feels like it's gelatinous and vibrates on impact. It's hold is more of a slicked hold (I used the same amount as Brylcreem). I was surprised that they called it a "greaseless" when it's made of mineral oil and lanolin. To me, grease and oil are synonymous when in my hair. That being said, I left it in overnight and it didn't feel greasy or oily in the morning. When I was applying it, my hair didn't really want to go where I was combing it until a few tries. I'm guessing that was when my hair was starting to dry.
    I'm pretty sure that people here are going to tell me that I'm not using enough Brylcreem, lol. I'd rather have a dry hold for styling without going a full slick and without the crunch that normal hair gel would give. I haven't used Groom & Clean much and I started with Brylcreem, so it is the one that I prefer. If I were going for a full slick, Groom & Clean would probably be easier.

      Only suppose to use a small application of these hair dressings as a little goes a long way. I notice when you use these products you practically put in a whole palm full of this stuff in your hair. That's not the way to use these products, as stated, a little goes a long way. I also will say that Groom & Clean does have a nice fragrance to it though.

    • @pyro226
      @pyro226 2 роки тому

      @@danbasta3677 Yeah, about half as much on the brylcreem with even longer thicker hair for a more natural look and taming fly-aways. Groom and clean requires more than brylcreem. When I had used Groom and Clean at first, I didn't apply enough and things brushing my hair at work would just blow out the hair where it was brushed against. Combing it back wasn't enough to hold it. Groom and Clean needs enough to weigh down the hair a bit as the hold is weaker. Pretty sure Groom and Clean doesn't use wax like Brylcreem does.

    • @danbasta3677
      @danbasta3677 Рік тому

      @@pyro226 It's mineral oil and fragrance plus a host of other specific ingredients added to it that makes it what it is. Not sure how old you are, however take it from me, an old man here, there was a product that came out before Groom & Clean and it was called Score. Now that product had a real nice manly fragrance and it to was a product that when you used it, you put it in your hair, combed it with water and it dissipated in your hair giving you a great hold and the more you combed your hair, the more cleaner your hair looked without it being weighed down greesy looking or nothing. Groom & Clean came on the market much later as Score's competitor, as both did exactly the very same thing, the more you combed your hair with water, the more it will dissipate into your hair and scalp. Score was an excellent product, however Brystal Meyers Incorporated sold both Vitalis and Score off to Clairol and Clairol discontinued Score, and sold Vitalis off to some outfit in Texas. Now to Brylcream. Even the instructions on both the tube and the box tells you a little dab will do ya, yet these guys put a whole palm full of this stuff in their hair, and it looks greesy, slicked down, kinda gross looking. Back in my day when that kind of thing went out of style it was called The wet head is dead. This is why when you do use these products, you only use a small application of them and water to comb your hair with, letting the water dry and let the product do its job and remain in place of your desired hairstyle. If it happens to be windy outside, so be it. A quick trip to the restroom and just a small amount of water fixes that, real fast. At least, your hair will look clean and fresh looking, fresh smelling, etc, which is a much better fit to a well groomed man than greasey plastering down hair and looking like you stuck your head in a oil change pit at the local garage or oil change shop whare people get a oil change for their cars and trucks.

    Constructive criticism: You use way too much hair product. I've seen many of your styling videos and it clearly shows the effects of your excessive hair product use.. It seems that every video you upload you have less hair... That my friend for someone with good hair is troubling.

    Great vid. When I was young I tried every men's product known to man. It's amazing that Brylcreem had an exact counterpart product called Top Brass. Also, Groom&Clean had a counterpart product called Score. They were exactly the same thing as each other kinda like Coke and Pepsi. They no longer make Score so I use Groom&Clean which has always been the same thing only I liked the Score packaging much better when I was younger..Has a guy your age.ever heard of Top Brass or Score?

    • @danbasta3677
      @danbasta3677 6 років тому +2

      soulfunk68 I have used Score, which has an even BETTER fragrance. It was produced by Brystal Meyers inc which sold Score and Vitalis off to Clairol, and Clairol discontinued Score, sold Vitalis off to some Texas outfit. Brystal Meyers still holds the patton for Score, however will never make it again. There use to also be at one time a Score liguid version. Top Brass, another excellent product produced by Revlon, unfourtionally was discontinued as well to. Always the very BEST products that worked the very best always got discontinued. Wildroot is another excellent product as well to. I would like to add to that I like and prefer Top Brass and Wildroot over Brylcream any day of the week. Everybody makes to much of a hype over Brylcream, and Brylcream really isn't all that much to write home about when Wildroot and Top Brass is even much better. And I certainly loved Score to. Always the best products get taken off the market. Always happens that way.

    Also with pomade (which also contains mineral-oil and vaseline) you can get acne. And in the fact that brylcreem has the same ingredients you can also get acne with this product BUT i think it depends on how you use it and how much of the product you apply to your hair.
    I use pomade now since 8 months and i never got any kind of acne. I also ordered today a tube of Brylcreem for testing it.

      In March of 2022, Wal Mart no longer carries Groom & Clean as they discontinued it. Sad shame as mens hair dressings and products have all disappeared off the store shelves these days, and all we're left with is these goofy, smelly flowery sissy female hair products. Someone has got to put a stop to that. You can, for now still purchase Vitalis and Brylcream at Wal Mart, however, one day, they to will probably be eliminated to, I'll bet.

    I also wanted to say, you've got really good skin, no acne that I could see. Some other hair oil websites say Brylcream had a tendency to cause acne because it is mineral oil based. Groom & Clean is water-based (I guess like KY Jelly!) Maybe Groom & clean can be used for other things too!

    • @danbasta3677
      @danbasta3677 6 років тому

      nosferatu When using these and other products, only a small application of this is necessary. That's all your ever going to need, otherwise, using the whole tube just for one application like this, makes your hair look cemented down and greesey. What you do want, is when thst small application is used, is that it makes your hair more easier to comb anc style accordingly. And using these products which contain minerial oil, usually remain in your hair and scalp so you really don't have to use it all that frequently, just once a week. Try that, you'll see and feel the differance, and your hair will look more natural and clean looking.

    That is not too much if you wanna true wet greaser look, but he didn't apply it right, when you do that much, you gotta rub it in, front and back, side to side, and root to tip, cover every strand in that shit, and apply to DRY hair so your hair eats it up, water evaporates and the look you have with water is not the look you'll have when it dries, that's why you apply it dry.... Try it this way once and see what happens... Big dab like that size and rub it root to tip on every single strand on your head on dry hair, you'll love it

    Thanks for the review. I have never used hair oils in my entire life, but recently I have been tormented by itchy scalp. The weather around here is really very dry in the winter. Even with a big humidifier in the house, the itchy scalp is driving me nuts. It feels better after I use Head and Shoulders, but the medicated effect wears off. I thought about starting to use a hair oil. I guess it would be more for my scalp than my hair. Any thoughts on whether Groom & Clean would help my scalp?

      Stuart M. Any of these products can help as they contain mineral oil in them. Always only use a small amount application of them, and for your use and situation, best you experiment at whats best for your own circumstance. There use to be a product on the market produced by Chesbourgh Ponds the same company that produces Groom and Clean, called Vasiline hair tonic. Chesbourgh Ponds sold them off to Suave and Suave discontinued Vasiline. Vasiline hair tonic was minerial oil with fragrance and as with anything else, you only use a small amount application. If helped with dry hair and scalp conditions to in which your experiancing.
