Okay so let me get this clear.
There are 3 realities.
The first being ours, the one where we write and create anomalies to post on the SCP wiki, SCP 5999 is not real and cannot harm us
The second being one that is similar to ours, just that every single anomaly we write becomes real in the SCP universe, and SCP 5999 being very real, it can kill you.
The last being the SCP universe itself, where it is affected by the creations of the 2nd reality, and the 05 council uses SCP 5999 to kill the writers in the second reality.
I take it more as 2 layers. Ours and SCP. And 5999 is their unsuccessful assassination attempt against us. They gave it a good shot, but it didn't work.
Think of it this way imagine a 0 and a 1 the scp universe being the 0 and our universe being the 1, now you can fit infinite numbers between 0 and 1 and all those are just infinite layers of fiction that seperate us from them

Never mind that the SCP wiki itself acknowledges there is more than one SCP Foundation reality - at least 30 of them.. And there is Operation Palisade where various SCP Foundations are destroying each other's reality in an effort to protect themselves. Perhaps I should throw the Sazan Collective Protectorate on to the pile - trying to deal with an SCP Foundation run by semi immortal SCPs who react very badly to being threatened should send a message to the 05 council - don't tick off your creators. ;-)

Although it may sound extreme at first, their actions do make sense. You need to remember that ultimately the authors (us) are responsible for creating all the horrific monsters that plague them, like 106, 682, 173, and the others, and releasing them into their world. Unfortunately for them, anomalies can't exist in our world and so they can't really meaningfully interact with us.

I remember hearing somewhere that there was an old Japanese game where there would be 100 candles in one room and you and a bunch of other people would go in the room next to it and tell scary stories. After each story, you would go to the candle room and blow a candle out then go back to telling scary stories. After blowing out all the candles, supposedly you would summon an evil spirit. The 5999 entries are just scary stories and the very end is the spirit being summoned.

The thing is all these mysteries are just used here to keep the reader's attention till the very end where the memetic agent kills(supoosed to) the readers and authors.

I think that I speak for most of us when I say that we love SCP, and as such this is self-containing and to do anything about that would cause the very ZK that they so fear.

I’m writing a fan fiction where the protagonist exists in our world and thinks the SCP Foundation is real but they make the information public because then it will seem fake. They go to extraordinary lengths to prove its real and then after losing countless lives and supplies, they get recruited into the foundation.
So its just the scp foundation having a tantrum against their creators.
I feel like 5999 is a very hard article to summarize in a short amount of time without giving away the ending. It's got a lot of subtlety that's lost in re-tellings, and I'd encourage people who don't mind a very long read to go through the entire experience.

Honestly the idea of the 05 Council killing the SCP writers is an extreme action of hubris (right up their alley, really) the issue that they probably don't see is that when you kill your creators, who are still actively writing new things into your world...well your fictional world will eventually fall apart. Stagnate and become just another lost fiction. Of course the 05 Council accidentally causing their own demise might be the only way for them to go

Explanation (based on interpretation):
-In-Universe: It's a powerful entity being sealed through stories of it's rampage.
-Out-Universe: It's a Trap.
I just want to say here how much I appreciate this channel for breaking down even the most complicated SCPs especially this one: each paragraph is well-thought in relation to the ones after, and breaks are introduced to consolidate information that may have started to become disparate, so that we always understand everything by the end.
Compare this to Histographics, where oftentimes the layout of the explanation is as disjointed as the narrator's strange broken way of speaking. I'm often lost on that channel.
Man I can't even get my own SCP greenlighted by reviewers. Every time I see an SCP video, I think back to my own SCP that I'm writing and know that I can't even do that. I'm sad.

Ok, is like, the passcode constantly changing for the SCP Wiki?!
One friend said it was such and such, I found it and it didn’t work yet he swears it was that. Another said it was such and such, and also swears that it is correct. Then, I found a forum and it says one thing that wasn’t correct, though it does state that it has now changed. One UA-camr, who didn’t reveal it, simply said it is a couple sentences and yet all the possible candidates don’t work. I have read it 63 times (I started counting after the seventh try to try to keep my sanity) and I can’t find it. I am not asking for the passcode, but is there some sort of hint or trick to finding it?! I am an avid writer, it is a favorite hobby of mine, so I feel like I would fit in.

I can confirm that I read SCP-5999 and am now, in fact, very dead indeed.
I had an idea to make an SCP like this way back! It really is cool. For me though it ended with the O-5 Council desperately trying to avoid the creation of their now created SCP, as they come to realize that the killing of the SCP creators meant an End of Reality scenario, so they doom themselves with the knowledge of knowing either they have to stop resisting and continue to struggle in their existence for just the sake of entertainment, or just cease to exist. Basically it ends with an existential crises where the O-5 council all contemplate which choice to make, while others instead chose to take amnesiacs.
Then they find out that it doesn’t matter because them killing the “authors” is just another layer of fiction below us and to truly get to us they would need to go through an infinite number of those layers meaning they could never truly reach us only the fictional versions of us
And each layer which contains us writing the stories is just above even more infinite layers of reality and so on fiction can’t hurt or affect non fiction
If there was a limited number of anomalies then they can be banished to the phantom zone

I love how, on the thumbnail all the skull flames look angry and aggresive and you just got that one skull in the middle who just seem confused
