for those that are confused to the terminology used in mortal kombat:
HP = High Punch
LP = Low Punch
HK = High Kick
LK = Low Kick
BL = Block
B = Away from your opponent
F = Towards your opponent
D = crouch
U = Jump
D+HP = Uppercut
B+LK = Sweep
B+HK = Roundhouse Kick
Genesis 3 Button Controls
A = LP F+LP (Performs a High Punch)
B = LK
C = HK
Start = BL
Genesis 6 Button Controls
X = HP
Y = BL
Z = HK
A = LP
B = BL
C = LK
Start = BL
SNES Controls
A = LK
B = LP
X = HK
Y = HP
L/R = BL

A note about the Kintaro Morph fatality: While the stipulation is "hold LP for 25 seconds", what you actually need to do is hold it when the round starts and win. Even if you win in 4 seconds, this will work as long as you stand in the right spot when you let go of the button during the fatality sequence.
for the snes, on the character select screen, do the following:
press d,u,r,u,l,select (super strength against cpu opponents)
press u,u,l,u,d,select (extra fatality time)
press d,u,r,u,u,r,l,select (go straight to shao khan in single player mode)
when starting the rom, hold dow the buttons that correspond to the left and right shoulder buttons of the snes pad to get an alternate akklaim screen

@wirelessguy1 HK stands for High Kick. Charging means holding down the button that you have to charge (for example charge HK 3 seconds means hold down the button for 3 seconds.)
@Catdramaticstatic on the genesis version, you can perform 1 button fatalities. just go to the options screen, highlight 'done', then press l,d,l,r,d,r,l,l,r,r for the test options. from here you can turn certain cheats on and off, including 1 button fatalites. if playing the 32x version, press l,d,r,r,d,l,l,l,l,r,r,r instead. these cheat menus do not work on the snes version btw, i've been playing this game for over 15 years, so i got all the main fatalities memorised years ago

yes sometimes i was holding block and sometimes not. It depends on the fataliy. In the fatalities where i wasn't holding block, I tried to press the up button really fast, for example: i press HK button, and after that I try pressing the up button, sometimes it works sometimes no. My tip for you would be: practice, and don't give up trying.
Sub zero fatality when he freezes the guy and then uppercuts him after the freeze. That fatality is pretty dope.
i memorize the Buttons to the Xbox:
High Punch=X
Low Punch=A
High Kick=Y
Low Kick=B
Block=RT (obviously)
plus Mileena's First Fatality is really simple
@joredul1 either hold blk first, or press the button down when not in striking range of your opponent, then move in close

@wirelessguy1 go to options and change your pad from 3 buttons to 6. then you will have six different buttons for every move.
@Catdramaticstatic You know, you may have a point there. But when I was a kid I remember that there were some books with the fatalities codes and other stuff on sale. So I think maybe one of the reasons was to buy the book. (which I didn't, lol)
8:45 The sound of Raiden's electrocution fatality on the Genesis/Mega Drive sounds a lot like it came from a dot matrix printer.
i have always had a problem when fatalities call for the up button. i just dont get it. when i hit up they jump up? it looked like sometimes you held block and sometimes you didnt? any help on this would be really appreciated it has been buggin me for years
@DragonJoe19 looks like you didn't enable 6-button controls in the option, try doing that. Also check your key configurations, hope that helps.
you forgot to mention that, to do friendships or babalities, you must not use the punch buttons in the winning round. also, after doing the first part of sub zeros deep freeze/shatter fatality, on the dead pool, after going f,f,d,hk, perform the acid bath stage fatality (hold lp+lk, d+hp (lk+hk if using the genesis version with a 3 button configuration) this is same for all the characters) you will uppercut your still frozen blue opponent into the acid

@Oscar Ramos you aren't supposed to use HP or LP during the rounds.
hk means high kick lk means low kick, hp high punch, lp low punch
think of it as ps3 control hk=triangle,lk=circle,hp=square,lp=x

He forgot Liu Kang second fatality which is stand four or five steps away from the opponent hold block rotate the controls 360 counter clockwise from your opponent.

Haven't played this game recently so I can't tell which buttons are responsible for LK, HK; just try pressing the buttons, you'll see where is LK and HK. BL stands for block, duh ;)
If any one is stuck on mileena fatality hold down HK for 3 seconds but you have to hold it down after you beat them and it works
Tyler Simpkins doesn't work for me on SNES I do it but still end up kicking them and killing...
I have a question: in some fatalities you press block and then press the series of the buttons. In some of them you don't. why?
Nick Nosov To keep characters in place, while you input directions like up, forward, or back
Some characters require it, and some don't
Nick Nosov of a fatality move has a up to it... like up up down forward LP. You hold the block button so you dont jump in the air. Then follow the rest of the movement while holding block and then the fatality move will occur
do you need the six button controller or can you still play this game with the three button?

@RyskaG Yeah.Thats probably why.I mean,without the fatalities,its otherwise pretty tame.Actually,in a way,its a very effective way of keeping kids from seeing the fatalities.And animalities.Gotta say,though,wish they made friendships and babalities easier to perform.That way you can at LEAST revert them into a baby.

@RyskaG I actually kinda prefer babalities.They're hillarious.
let's take the first fatality, where you need to charge LP (low punch) for 25 seconds. you have only few seconds to do the fatality, so you need to press the button which is responsible for low punch and hold it (without releasing) during the match, you can try that in second round. All there is to it, it's not that hard :)

Simple, just do it in block form then you won't have to worry

I dont get the sweep part. As in perform a sweep quick?
Sweep refers to the distance, meaning somewhere a distance of 2 steps away from the enemy.
HK = Higk kick
LP = Low punch
and so on
