Thank you so much Murray for keeping me and many others going over the lockdown period. You may not realise what a huge inspiration you have been to those of us unable to travel to Scotland. Finally got back yesterday and ticked off Schiehallion today. Lot of boulders!!!
Fantastic - hope you had a good trip up Schiehallion:) I always hate the last half of that hill - so rocky !! 😂😂 Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
Hi - I would wait until nearer the time to see what the weather is like. Hoping it'll be warmer but who knows. I was on the CMD Arete a few weeks ago and it was clear of snow but that will have changed over last few days for sure- it'll be white at the moment. Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray P.S. When descending off the Ben down to the CMD Arete I used axe and crampons and slope up to summit still had lots of snow at the time....
@@ScotlandsMountains thanks for the reply! I was also looking for a suggestion about boots. I'm looking to do CMD from glen Nevis and have Mendel extreme boots... Are these too much of a high top boot for that gradient?
What a roller coaster of a weather. That howling wind gave me goosebumps. I’ve just been to check out a hidden beach near Torridon, inspired by your video. Thanks for making these videos, Murray! Had a wonderful camp on the beach..all to myself! 😎🌤⛺️ Take care. Mari
@@ScotlandsMountains Absolutely! It was a perfect place for an afternoon tea. Just like my own private beach. 😁 Many thanks again. Stay healthy & strong so you can make more videos! 😎 Good night
Yes, spring often has a sting in its tail, but it's May!! Absolutely spectacular views though. I'm doing a 600m hill tomorrow - I'll be taking microspikes.
Cracking film. Lovely mountains up there with stunning views esp over to Alder range (on a clear day). Did 3 of the 4 as #s 45, 46 and 47 leaving Sgairneach Mhor for another day.
Wow another fantastic video! Scotland has some incredible weather, you look very at home in it relaxing on the mountain side in the snow!😊 the picture you took of your view is just beautiful
Great video Murray and shows how winter can linger in Scotland, love the views of Ben Alder from the Drumochters.. are you doing a 2nd round of Munros or is it a random selection? 😂 All the best, James
Thanks James - Definetely not doing a second round - still got two days of Munro bagging to finish off the first round (been this way for about ten years😂) I go through phases of bagging but most days I am just happy to be in amongst the mountains :):) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
i did my first mountain the other day snowdon, started in sunshine which turned to hail half way up and when i finally got to the top it was freezing howling wind and the clouds rolled in and we couldnt even see the trig point, but it was fantastic. walked down in sunshine and got a nice pint at the bottom and now i understand why you do it and will do it again.
Hi - yes I think these are good for winter weather - nice and warm - maybe a little bit snug and tight fitting but have been pretty good so far :) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
Not yet - got 2 Munro days left to complete - but I was saying this over tens years ago (I must get my finger out and finish off the remaining few ;) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
Hi Bryan - got two days of munro bagging to go .... but that’s been the same for about ten years 😂 I must get round to finishing the last few off 👍 Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
It’s been great enjoying some late winter conditions - especially having missed the majority of the winter passes :) 👍 Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
Excellent, and the old catchphrase making a show 😃. Planning those two this year so really good to see you walk them. Must remember the underpass at the start for parking nearby. Thank you
Some impressive gear colour coordination in this one! 👏 How did you you accomplish the animated map, is it a third party tool or some video editing voodoo? It's very effective.
Hi Dave - I spent the weekends of lockdown when I wasn't getting out learning how to do these animations in adobe! TBH it take a good few hours to do these - really wish there was an easier third party tool (I looked at fatmap who do offer a similar thing - maybe worth checking out ):) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
Great film as always. I have been watching a lot of your films it made me decide I am going to come to this area in September. I got a couple of questions at the end of this film you show a map, I have been pausing and following you on the os map but the map you show near end is not os map, is shows more paths, what map is it? Also you mentioned you did the loop the opposite way to book says, can you recommend books that detail walks like this please. Many thanks.
Hi Nick - the annotations aren’t always 100% spot on - I’d recommend you head over to the excellent Walkhighlands page - all amazing content and everything g you will need over there - good luck and hope the weather shines for your trip up the hills :) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
Great walk and video- especially in those wind chilled conditions. I don’t think folk realise how much extra time is required to create good footage. Good work- 👍
Sound advice, thanks. Layering up and down is definitely the way. Being prepared for whatever may crop up is essential, as well as knowing when to call it a day. Nice video, thanks very much.
There’s a great 7 mile bike track across to Loch Ericht from Loch Rannoch then up Udlamain from the shore of Ericht, really quiet route. N.B. Like the decathlon troos, snap😊!!
Murray that looked a pretty cold day out! Don't think I've seen you head off a hill so quick in years! As always brilliant to watch and thank you so much for sharing.
Murray, mother nature can be so brutal in the Highlands, makes the Scottish landscape so diverse and appealing 👍 OMG 😬😬😬😬❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️ Stay safe atb Taff 🤠👊
An absolute blinding video Murray. Just shows how fickle mother nature is. The sound of the wind howling made me feel cold just watching. As always stay safe out there. ATB
How I had missed your videos during the pandemic, it feels so good getting my dose of mountains again. I took up some munro climbing with my friend and it is so much fun, the mountains truly are beautiful.
Sitting here in the warm watching you in the cauld and enjoying every second of your phenomenal photography, Murray you are incredible, please keep making us all smile and wish for the hills (safely)
Lots of weather changes! I felt cold watching you at the top especially with the whistling wind sounds Always great explanation and narration. Until the next video ..take care ❤️ 🇨🇦
Once again Murray, thank you so much for the videos. Scotland is finally opening up for us Southerners and I cant wait to get back up myself to experience the amazing views once again. Keep up the amazing work and stay safe.
I've not walked in Scotland, and watching your films I can't work out how you plan a route, I assume there are recognised routes published somewhere? I'm used to looking at an OS map and just following the footpaths, there seems to be nothing like that in Scotland, even the bridge you crossed isn't marked. The Lake District is slightly better with regard to OS mapping, but there the obvious routes are well worn even if not marked on the map. Maybe I'm over thinking it, but I find the steps from easy to passable to tricky to dangerous hard to read on a map.
