Liked “the more melodies you learn and internalize, the easier it is to improvise”!

Masterful is exactly how to describe not only this lesson (clearly I refer to Mr. Vignola's playing and technique) but also his approach to teaching. I tuned in because I've always loved this song and I found that this lesson was presented in a manner that was easy to follow and fun to work on what I've learned. I'd like to see a 30 minute analysis & Jam on Speak No Evil.

Masterful! Such great teaching; a concise, structured, and paced delivery with plenty of repetition, context, and humility, with no waffle. Perfect. 👌

I developed a keen inner clock for these kinds of changes from playing bass. Talk about getting lost. Eventually I heard a lesson with a bassist who talked about playing some 2-5s now and again to box out two and four bar phrases. That totally did the trick. I didn't even need to play them for real or maybe just threw in a few passing notes to imply them but not really make them land. It really helps every other player at the session, too.

Great tutorial. Listen to Ronny Jordan's version for some beautiful solo ideas too.

I haven't played this tune a whole lot, but I do remember getting lost a few times. You laid it out and paced it well, and got me thinking maybe I could give this composition another try. Thanks for that!

Frank, the melody sounds great on a 7 string where you got the low D at the fifth fret … Relayed compliments of John Pizzarelli 😂
