@Tyler Johnson yes and no there are have been multiple different grey Jedi with different ideas and viewpoints on the force but as with a lot of things in Star Wars it gets tangled up into what is cannon and what isn’t cannon/isn’t anymore For example starkiller might have been considered a grey Jedi at one point because he was a former sith assassin turned Jedi that still used the dark side of the force often in the service of the light side but that again is just one of the many things Star Wars fans will probably never be sure of because we always argue about cannon and can’t agree on what actually is and isn’t now The example listed above isn’t the most popular opinion on what a grey Jedi is it’s just what is easiest for me to explain
Lol, don't forget about that vision Cal had of the empire finding him & the children. They get tortured & slaughtered, while Cal goes through the same treatment as Trilla & serves Vader. I think this takes place 5 years after Revenge of the Sith? So Luke is also a child on that list. This decision was for the best. Edit: Perhaps Luke wasn't on the list, I personally believe he is, as the game states current children, but still the best action to take.
I think they also stated most of the Jedi are extinct by the time Rey and Kylo come. Since Luke was a master and then Kylo went to the dark side and killed everyone and ya dada da. Soooo in a hindsight. Cal delayed the inevitable......or did he? 😏
@@MChief123 Bruh it's a forever changing holacron. When a new force sensitive is born there names appear on the list. It don't matter if it was a billion years later as long as the Holacron is still in working shape it will always add new children to the list
Nenot27 Gamer No, that’s not how it works. The Jedi deploy Seekers that manually put names on the holocrons. They’re not automatically updated whenever a Force-sensitive child is born.

I mean it also showed Cal surrendering to Trilla, who is now dead. So that vision was not necessarily a true look at the inevitable future, but rather a manifestation of Cal's fear about what MIGHT happen. Cal's decision to destroy the holocron is influenced by that fear, for sure. And it's certainly possible that something similar MIGHT happen. But it's also possible they could have been successful. Cal merely decides it's not his place to make that decision for them, and leaves their fate to the will of the Force.
@@Frosterino The point of the vision wasn't Cal's self doubting. The whole time Cere talked about the holocron it was in the context that it would rebuild the order. That vision was a reminder of the point that Merrin brought up that they would just be hunted and potentially go threw the same trauma that she and Cal did. Sure Trilla is dead now, but if they're caught now I doubt Vader would be as merciful as she was and just kill Cal, the younglings, and everyone else. In the end, the game is about choices and how our choices affect the people and world around us. From Cal's choice to use the Force to save his friend which brought the Inquistors to the planet and forced him out of hiding, to Greez choosing to gamble which gets Cal captured by his debt collectors, Cere choosing to go with her plan despite Trilla's pleas which gets her and Trilla caught and tortured, and Merrin choosing vengence which blinded her to Malicos' manipulation and lies. Cal using the holocron would repeat the cycle of someone taking away someone else's choices for their own reasons. Which is the same thing Cere did to Trilla. If Cal used the holocron, the entire games message would be invalidated.
TheBurningPhoenix I’d rather do mfk. Marry Merrin, Fuck Trilla, and Kill the 9th sister (of course I gotta base them on thickness, which was hard because 9th sister is pretty fucking thick like DAMMMN)
Honestly the ending isn't bad at all. Cal recalls his master's last words: "Trust only in the force". Also, their effort so far is not put to waste. They did prevent Trilla from getting her hands on the holocron. Although they didn't make use of the list and destroyed it instead, it is very important that they prevented it from being used in a way harmful to those children
The ending made sense. This is a canon story so it has to follow the main events of the skywalker saga when Cal destroyed the holocron he did it because he realised that if the list were to be in the wrong hands the Empire would murder hundreds of innocent lives or torture and train the children and create an army of dark sided assassins for the empire. Also Cal had a vision when obtaining the holocron which showed him if he continued his quest the empire would eventually find them and he will end up becoming an inquisitor himself and all the young children would be murdered.
I wish they expanded on the ending more. Like what did Cere think of Trilla’s death. What Vader wants to do with them escaping. What Merrin and Cal will do next. I hope we get a sequel
One of the best endings in game history. Extremely hype, Vader being a badass mother fucker, and Cal learns a lesson. Trust in the force to guide them. Loved every part of it.
Yeah, cause 1. we literally saw how the future was gonna go if Cal used the holocron to find the kids, and 2. now the Empire has no possible way of finding the holocron
Yea... I guess. Vader himself destroyed the list in the cannon Vader comics. Mans literally didn't want palpatine to replace him. So it was literally all for NOTHING. This game has a shit story plot ONLY if you've read the vader comics. Because the Librarian from the Prequals (that bitch that told Obi wan that the clone planet doesn't exist) had the list in the library and she went back to get it, vader killed her, then destroyed the list after reading it bc he didn't want palpatine to replace him. So this whole story is based off of a holocron that didn't have any use since Vader went through that holocron mission with his inquisitors. The Grand Inquisitor literally was ordered by palpatine to sit in the Jedi Archives and read every fucking book. So this story was kinda dumb if you read the CANNON Vader comics. If you havent, I'll link it in the comment below.

If you’re confused on the ending Afro the reason he cuts the holocron in half is because of the vision he gets earlier about what would happen if he uses the holocron to rebuild the order they would have died not sure if that concludes anything for you but yea
You have to remember that this game is also cannon. So him being prevalent pre episode IV was not gonna happen. He saw a vision of him losing to the empire had he found the kids and started his own academy. That played a role. He also saw how powerful Vader was, he knew he stood no chance. They stood no chance. There was no point. Finally, this games theme for Cal was “Trust only in the force”. When he trusted the force, he became a more powerful Jedi. He’s finally trusting that the force will guide/protect those kids.
@@seafaringneptune3573 That's the whole point of the vision Cal receives when he places the astrium at the temple on bogano. It was a vision of the possible future. He saw that if he retrieved the holocron and found the force-sensitive kids to train, the Empire would find them, either kill them outright or torture them and turn them into more Inquisitors. Cal made the right choice. With the holocron destroyed, the empire will never know the names or locations of these children.
He complained that he doesn't like the Jedi because they make choices like what Cal just did in the end, when in actuality Cal choice was more like what a Grey Jedi would do. A Grey Jedi is the one who fully let's the force decide the destiny, while a Jedi would do something that would help strengthen the light side, and bring those kids on the list and training them in the light side is what a Jedi would do, and of course a Sith would do the same except with the dark side, so sorry Afro, Cal decision was more Grey Jedi than Jedi.
Because of Disney the term Grey Jedi does not exist in canon which is a shame, Cal acted as a True Jedi instead of a grey jedi or jedi. Why is he not a Jedi? Well because after years in control they became arrogant amd prideful in terms of the laws of the council. Cal is a True Jedi as Qui Gon is.
@@TheRealRitz2 i was only saying that with the new canon, there are no grey jedis which is a shame. Instead of grey jedis there are jedis that dont follow the council just the force.
If you’re confused by that ending, the reason he destroyed it was because the vault was basically telling him that if he tried to bring those kids in, they’d be found and tortured. So he decided it would be better to let them live their life than have the chance to get killed by the empire.
Gotta give cal some credit. The force did literally show him what happens if he started up a Jedi academy and how they'll eventually get captured then he meets Vader a few hours later? Pffft who startin a academy knowing what Vader is capable
I agree. I think Cal made the right choice. The force did give him foresight on what could happen to those children so why try to tempt fate. Better to keep them hidden instead of having all those kids in one place for slaughter
It's so true, Cal is like only a mid level Jedi at best. He has so much to learn and is not yet a master. And only a true master could of stood against Vader in a straight up fight with any chance of winning. Cal took the smart way out once he realized how outclassed they were and ran away. And even then he was lucky to get away relatively unscathed which is more then most Jedi would tried to run from Vader.
@@Rembanspellsong absolutely with you bro! There is only one of hundreds of jedi to ever beat Vader and we all know who that grandmaster is. He took the right way out, RUN AWAY.
If you look in the tactical guide after the encounter with Vader, it actually says that 9/10 people who go up against him don't live to tell the tale and that basically the only way to beat him is to not fight him at all. Just a really cool detail I wanted to share.

There's not much they could have done differently anyway. This takes place between RoTS and ANH, so you KNOW Luke's name was in that holocron. So yeah, I like that ending, it ties in well with the story
Manned Crown2 it’s a good point but since the holocron was made before the fall of the Jedi order, Luke and Leia were not yet born which means they couldn’t have been on that list. Plus no Jedi knew of padmei being pregnant except for anakin and obi wan
22:59 My favorite part about this hit is the fact that we know it hits a part of Vader that's still human. Remember, both arms were lost at the elbow and that's a bicep stab; in this moment, Vader was feeling legitimate pain.
It was a unexpected shock. His suit was designed to be lethal against lighting attacks. That is why he felt pain. Besides that, basically nothing hurts him.
@@ruinerofjokes1418 They're both OP for their own stories. I think people wanna give Starkiller a pass because he trained, but him literally using Vader's face as a floor sponge and beating the Emperor was just way too much. He made the main antagonists look like fodder. I get that he would be strong enough to take on Vader, but him winning and winning in what seemed like such a one-sided fight ruined Vader for me when I was a little kid. Him overpowering Vader like that was too much and made it seem like fanfic. Starkiller was on some ancient sith level of power that didn't work for that era of Star Wars.
@@dixonb.tweenerlegs4225 I personally didn't like how OP Starkiller was either, but I heard that the novelization tries to justify some of his feats with him only managing to gain the upper hand on Vader with his force abilities and his knowledge of Vader's fighting style from being trained by him and even then, it wasn't an easy fight and Vader was still superior in terms of saber skills. With the Emperor, he threw the fight to tempt Starkiller into becoming his new apprentice and this seems supported by the fact that after being seemingly defeated by Starkiller, he immediately got back up and had a force lightning struggle with Starkiller that ended with Starkiller dead and the Emperor still alive. Not that I support having to read books and comics to fill in inconsistencies and plot holes with a main work, of course.
I think Kal made the best decision. Not everyone is cut out to be a Jedi, if Kal went out and gathered the force sensitive's he would be putting even more people in danger, that would be completely needless. Even the deaths that happened to people on the planets he visited were still happening. Jedi know that the force will find those it needs. Which eventually, was Luke Skylwalker. If Kal gathered other force sensitives they would have been killed and stood no chance. The future Kal saw was clarity. Besides, I'm sure that both Kal, and Cere know they are incapable of leading the Jedi. Kal only just became a Knight and was still in the process of learning what it truly means to be a Jedi, and Cere is struggling with the dark side. Personally I was upset from a game standpoint that all my hardwork came to nothing, but from an actual "This makes sense for the future" is probably one of the two better endings. The other being that Kal becomes a sith.
At first it can come off as his hard work ending with nothing, but he ended in a great place as opposed to how he started. Good friends, healed his connection to the force, overcame some serious trauma and got a solid chance to just live his life. Just like what Prauf said in the beginning, “Go live your life.”

Love_ Train maybe so but I think they should’ve introduced the fact that they shouldn’t use the holocron earlier instead of right at the end of the game, it feels like they were thinking in the studio “well shit this is cannon and we need to make sure cal doesn’t rebuild the order any ideas? Well how about cal dies and the holocron is destroyed? Nah too sad and we need to make a sequel and other suggestions? Oh how about we add a premonition at the end of the game and have him destroy the holocron because of that?” It felt like they wrote the story and realized that Cal’s basic goal was to get the holocron to rebuild the order, and they didn’t realize it goes against cannon if he uses it so they threw something in at the end of the game to save themselves, if they introduced this throughout the story and have cal realize by the end of the game or even midway through that he needs the holocron so he can destroy it not so he can use it, it would make it feel like cal achieved his goal more

grey jedi are the ones who dont necessarily stand on either side right? and that they can use both dark and light side force powers? or is that wrong?
@Tyler Johnson yes and no there are have been multiple different grey Jedi with different ideas and viewpoints on the force but as with a lot of things in Star Wars it gets tangled up into what is cannon and what isn’t cannon/isn’t anymore
For example starkiller might have been considered a grey Jedi at one point because he was a former sith assassin turned Jedi that still used the dark side of the force often in the service of the light side but that again is just one of the many things Star Wars fans will probably never be sure of because we always argue about cannon and can’t agree on what actually is and isn’t now

Lol, don't forget about that vision Cal had of the empire finding him & the children. They get tortured & slaughtered, while Cal goes through the same treatment as Trilla & serves Vader. How would he be on a list that was made right before he was born?

@William Anderson I thought he had a vision of the Order's destruction, not necessarily that the mirror showed him their destruction.

Who cares about children tho

destroying the holocron was the smartest thing. ifwt

It was a unexpected shock. His suit was designed to be lethal against lighting attacks. That is why he felt pain. Besides that, basically nothing hurts him.
After seeing Vader get emasculated in The Force Unleashed games, this boss battle was much needed to reestablish him as a threat.
Pure Facts. It was weird af ragdolling vader and the emperor
Gonk Droid well Rey is cannon and star killer didn’t ruin the movies because of how powerful he was
Vader sshould've had plot armor tbh. Like he was the chosen one. I doubt the force would have allowed his death.
Vader- “You would be wise to surrender...”
Afro- “YOU GODDAMN RIGHT”

I like to think that the reward for my hard work was that Kal grew into the Jedi his master wanted him to be
At first it can come off as his hard work ending with nothing, but he ended in a great place as opposed to how he started. When the only way to escape Vader is to drop a goddamn ocean on him ._.
This is the perfect way to end this year.
I'm so happy that I subbed to you to join you on this journey, and experience several anime arcs with you, and watch you grow, and evolve, Afro.
Love you, man.
Here's to another year, boi!!
#SenjuGang
This is what I love for. The fear of the Jedi and the love of the fans.
You did it man you beat the game congratulations
Imagine if it ended with Cal and Cere dying and Vader just takes the holocron and the sequel is just you playing as vader hunting down all the names on the list
impossible because luke would have been one of those children on the list, this had to happen or the starwars timeline would be ruined
Andrew tbh I wanted that to happen except cal destroys the holocron last minute because even if the ending makes sense it can make the player feel as tho they made this whole journey for nothing
@@lilvro7016 No not for nothing they save all those child form the Empire
Love_ Train maybe so but I think they should’ve introduced the fact that they shouldn’t use the holocron earlier instead of right at the end of the game, it feels like they were thinking in the studio “well shit this is cannon and we need to make sure cal doesn’t rebuild the order any ideas? Well how about cal dies and the holocron is destroyed? Nah too sad and we need to make a sequel and other suggestions? Oh how about we add a premonition at the end of the game and have him destroy the holocron because of that?”
It felt like they wrote the story and realized that Cal’s basic goal was to get the holocron to rebuild the order, and they didn’t realize it goes against cannon if he uses it so they threw something in at the end of the game to save themselves, if they introduced this throughout the story and have cal realize by the end of the game or even midway through that he needs the holocron so he can destroy it not so he can use it, it would make it feel like cal achieved his goal more
@@lilvro7016 They kinda spoil it when he get it?
when cal is master and all of his student get capture and he join sith but when I play I dont understand that much
but yeah I need to re wacth the End for understand what cal do cuz it too fast
G I swear your reactions are on another level compared to everyone else. I knew what happened but watching you hyped me tf up to were I was screaming
19:07 The force of that jump was terrifying
him shouting trilla made me think that trilla jumping in to save cal would have been alot better than cere
Trilla was best girl. RIP
Cal: So... is this a boss fight?
Vader: That's a generous way of saying "hopeless, horror-filled flee for your insignificant life."
Cal: shitshitshitshitshitshit-
Super Saiyan D Vader: 😁
Cal: 😨
I remember playing the ending for the first time. MY REACTION WAS EVEN LOUDER THAN AFRO'S.
23:17 afro sounds like rd-d2 dying lmao
