Totally agree with everything you said. With Edwards #1, they could've found a #2, and then KAT #3. That is how I think everyone expected the franchise to improve. Instead, they traded for Gobert who is not a #2 and takes KAT's position. So what is KAT supposed to do? Catch and shoot 3s? Off the dribble jump shot? KAT is what happens when a 7ft'er focuses on 3pt shooting instead of post-moves, boxing out, blocking shots, jump-hooks, setting screens, put-back layups, finishing through contact, rim running, catching lobs, passing out of double-teams, etc etc. You know, all the things 7ft'ers "need" to be capable of. The only exception is Kevin Durant, but KD can already do alot of these things.
@@SirCruxful KAT is a PF/C who thinks he’s a SG. KD is a true SG/SF who plays the PF because he’s tall. Different skill sets. KAT just never accepted that he’s a big. KAT wants to hang out on the perimeter like a guard but never figured out how to be a stretch big like Dirk, Bosh, Brook, Horford etc. Even as a stretch big you still have to rebound and punish smaller defenders who switch onto you. He never learned that. Dirk was a shooter but that post fade was made to kill mismatches.
What I don’t understand is why the Timberwolves never even attempted to trade KAT after they traded Gobert when it was clear the two couldn’t really play together on the court at the same time and win (aka contend).
Their gm and owner thinks KaT is a generational talent ala luka or ja. When you got a talent like that on your team you'd want to make sure he's satisfied with the organization and you tend to overlook such red flags. They only traded wiggins because he declined faster than any other player with such hype.
The Gobert trade never should’ve happened in the first place. I can see going for a star but Mitch would’ve been better, or they could’ve waited and gone for KD or Ky. Hell even if it’s not a wild move going for Jerami Grant probably would’ve been a better move considering fit/ what you would’ve given up.

I wonder what a Wolves roster would have looked like had we kept Butler and still somehow drafted ANT. Those two would have been a real pain to play against. Butler definitely would have molded him defensively into a beast
Flash back to 2016 and KAT was looked at as the best young player in the league , a poll before the 16-17 season had KAT winning a poll where GMs voted on what player they would start their franchises with , and he beat out Bron, KD, Steph and AD , he was supposed to be an alltime great , sad to see this much talent being wasted

Guys ate and smoked their way out the league in previous decades, just be quiet about this generation. Jordan even said dudes were doing coke the night before games and just happy being Bulls when he came in, so it’s always existed.
KG was on the Wolves the year KAT got drafted. The hope was that he would be able to guide him in that rookie year. I think that KAT got a lot out of that, I just wish that included more of KGs mentality.
I'm a long time Wolves fan, too, which, historically is a painful activity. I also was initially optimistic about KAT, who, offensively at least, is exceptionally talented. I've often felt that for a big, he should rebound better, and I agree with your statement that he often disappears in high pressure moments. His defense has always been mediocre at best, and his attitude and demeanor is whiny and negative. I think that the officiating crews are pretty fed up with his nonstop whining. If he played harder, and brought it when it mattered, he'd get more favorable calls. Unfortunately, this spills over to the team as a whole, and even Ant, who plays twice as hard, often doesn't get calls. He talks a good game, and usually says all the right things to the press, but the walk often doesn't match the talk. At this point in his career, he's an established veteran, but he doesn't act like one. His teammates don't respect him as a leader, because his inconsistent play doesn't warrant that kind of respect. He gets max contract pay, but doesn't deliver max contract performance. If his effort matched his talent, he'd be right up there with Jokic and Embiid. As it is, he's not anywhere near their level. Maybe it is time to move on. Ant has clearly surpassed him as the Wolves best player.
To be honest, as a very very die hard Timberwolves fan. I love this team, born and raised in MN. I’ve been very very mean towards KAT. The truth is, I actually really respect KAT for all the things he’s endured while he’s here. I mean we were 16-66 the year before we drafted him and I was really banking on LaVine and Wiggins, KAT got me so excited. Even when we traded LaVine I just figured KAT was that guy. After all the injury history and all the COVID shit, I really would like to see just one more opportunity for KAT to be able to prove he can bring us to a 50 win season and a deep playoff run on the Wolves. If we are like a 6-8 seed or god forbid worse then I’d suggest trading him at the deadline and ripping the bandaid off while you can. I love KAT but that’s the honest truth. Btw, I think the Wolves will win 50 games and surprise a lot of people this year.
While a lot of the points are true, we must defend Towns to some extent. He missed 52 games this regular season due to injury, while learning how to play the 4 with Rudy Gobert, while ALSO learning how to be a 2nd option behind Edwards. Life has also been extremely rough on him after position so much of his family from COVID. As a Minnesota fan, I don't think we get a great return for him at the moment. That + his offensive ceiling being stellar tells me that he deserves more games to integrate into our new system given everything.
@@joet4811 why can't it be both of them? KAT is already willingly learning how to be a second option. He is handling the situation like a pro without causing us any off-court drama. 8 years playing the same low level intensity and get bullied by guards in the post is just enough gaguge, he wont turn to a KG or at least a chris bosh. He is just a role player

Agree with everything except, "a healthy Towns could have led to a 50+ win season." Yhe West is far to competitive this year. Only the Nuggets and Grizz had 50 wins, and that was just barely. But I agree, he's kinda at his ceiling. Too much settling for 3s.
I think just like wiggins, he'll benefit from a change of environment. He'll need coaches and teammates that will push him and be a member of a good culture. KAT is not a batman. Hes a robin or even a batgirl. He can be a star player but hes a 2nd or 3rd star instead of the 1st.

There was no reason why he should've struggled in this year's playoffs, he was guarded by Aaron Gordon most of the time and he got outplayed smh. He's soft and only wanted to shoot three's, if you watched him play, there was a significant amount of times where he was guarded by a smaller defender and decided to settle for long jumpers instead of back then down to the post. It's really frustrating to watch him play because he's got the talent but doesn't have that killer instinct, it's time to trade him and build around Anthony Edwards.

Two or three years ago german sport television insisted on the celtics should trade for him. They wanted them to give away Tatum and (!) Brown to pair Kat with Kemba Walker. When I asked if they completely lost their minds they asked back, if I’d really believe Tatum let alone Brown could become half as good as Kat one day. Now Kat sits at home watching Tatums and Browns deep play off runs as the star players on their team year after year after year. It‘s still the most hillarious take I ever heard.
Gobert is too goofy and makes dumb mistakes while KAT just doesn’t seem like he cares if the team wins or loses. He seems to be too concerned with taking selfies with his girlfriend, COD, and going on vacations with his girlfriend. He probably couldn’t wait to get the season over so he could take his girlfriend on vacation. Minnesota should have been traded him or they should be on the phones right now. The only way to semi fix this Gobert trade is to send KAT out. And they need to get that whole front office out everyone who goes and works for that organization automatically goes into dummy mode. They need Kevin Garnett there in some capacity maybe his energy would rub off on the organization.
That picture with Towns trying to back down Cousins on the post says it all, KAT trying his hardest, and Demarcus not budging. He’s played with a lot of talent, but can’t get it done. He’s not a serious player.
i seriously don't why the Timberwolves never even attempted to trade KAT after they traded Gobert when it was clear the two couldn’t really play together on the court at the same time and actually win, it even made them more worse than actually good
KAT is the guy who invents an award and hands it to himself to win something. Butler is the guy who sits out an allstar game because he only cares about real games. I think that says it all.
To be fair to Karl Anthony Towns, he is the "franchise player" of arguably the NBA's smallest market and the Wolves have never truly had real championship aspirations. So, him being dubbed as "passive" and "soft" are almost excusable when the Wolves are never expected to make a real push and you're financially compensated. It's almost like why Damian Lillard will never leave Portland: it's much more comfortable to sit at your own pace, avoid mass scrutiny and make top dollar. Not every player wants to win a championship.
As a Knicks Fan, they are rumored to be interested in KAT.I would personally pass on him. Next seasons starts his Super Max extension. For the Young players and Draft Picks that the Knicks will have to give up, He needs to be the "Man" and just don't see it.
Damn I was invested into this with a negative portrayal of KAT right until you spoke on his mothers passing along with 6 other family members… My whole view is different now it’s a blessing that man got the sanity to even still hoop
Its not a Minnesota Timberwolves issue, it’s a *Minnesota* issue. None of sports teams have that winning mentality or pedigree. They all have playoff potential but not that X factor to be title contenders
As time goes on, it becomes less & less surprising that 2015 Kentucky squad couldn't win the title. Team had loads of talent but didn't have any with the Dawg mentality. KAT & Booker especially.
The fact, that the Timberwolves felt the urgent need to trade for Gobert, when they should have had the best Center in the League on their roster already, tells you all you need to know. Especially since the NBA gets faster and more athletic every year, which makes it even harder to play with a Twin Towers system.
My biggest gripe with Towns was when he said that the Timberwolves playoff run was more impressive than the champion Nuggets because of the circumstances of the Timberwolves. To be so pleased over a first round exit and the devaluing of a championship shows how Towns prefer excuses to results. How Towns lacks a the mentality of the a champion and why I think he should be traded to build around Edwards.

I would argue that love is better than towns and bosh is definitely better than him. If they had the teams he had I think they would have went further
I wonder what a Wolves roster would have looked like had we kept Butler and still somehow drafted ANT. Those two would have been a real pain to play against. Butler definitely would have molded him defensively into a beast
Butler + Ant + Vando + Kessler would've been a defensive juggernaut
There's no chance of that happening. With Butler, Wolves would never be bad enough to ever contend for the #1 overall pick.

I thought that was hilarious at that time and I wonder how many of those gms still have a job

Towns is following the same trajectory as KG did save for losing 7 family members in one year. He'll get hard soon enough and when he does, look out.
Literally you give Kat jimmys work ethic he’s a top ten center all time
There have always been NBA players like this since I can remember.
Joe Barry Carroll definitely comes to mind.
Joe barely cares
The Wolves honestly need to find a sleeper in the lack of picks era of the future to help this team get to the next level.
Thank you. There is too muich negativity towards KAT. Its insane-
While a lot of the points are true, we must defend Towns to some extent.
He got way too much chances already. The future is Edwards, not Kat.
@@joet4811 why can't it be both of them? KAT is already willingly learning how to be a second option. He is handling the situation like a pro without causing us any off-court drama. Unless we swap him for Mikal Bridges (which I would like but don't see happening from Brooklyn's end), I don't see how we can get a better 2nd option for Edwards.

That was a good video i enjoyed it thank you
No doubt that KAT will leave the T-Wolves anytime soon and go to a competitive team like Heat, Knicks or Grizzlies.
Lol oing with the Heat, Jimmy will be lauhing. Kat will be lost if he ended to a contender

Him having all the physical abilities to be in the nba, but having this kinda mindset is devastating to us who have no athleticism
