The way Mads looks at Alicia takes my breath away every time. And he's too handsome to be human... I mean, those cheekbones look like they belong on a marble statue of Adonis. So glad I randomly decided to watch this movie on Netflix, despite the depressing ending! Their love is so sublime
The way he looks at her....and when he smiles... I started to cry because I realize that I miss someone that look at me that way... This scene is so emotional...
I have never seen this movie, I don't speak this language, I have no context of what's going on...but their acting and the directing and all that is so good that I can still understand the emotions at play in this scene. That is talent and everyone who worked on this deserves a lot of praise.
It's based on a true love story. The Danish King (Christian 7) hired a doctor, who became his close friend, The King was marked by mental illness , so he did't pay Queen Caroline Mathilde much attention or affektion. Struensee fell inlove with the queen, and started an afair. It did't end well for the queen and Struensee, she got put in house arrest in Celle, and Struensee got executed. She never saw her kids again.
I absolutely love this movie! I would hate if anybody watched this and wouldn't be able to understand what they're saying. Translation: Struensee: Your majesty. Caroline: You recognized me? Struensee: I think I would be able to recognize you while being blindfolded. Caroline: But you aren't very imaginative. Struensee: No, apparently I'm not very good at masquerades. Caroline: For me it is the only evening during the year where people can be themselves... But you never take your mask off, do you? Struensee: Your majesty - will you do me the honor?
I could write an essay on this scene, I think the fact that I don't speak this language helps. I'm not reading words, I'm studying everything else, their tone, body language, expressions are enough to tell you everything if you know the plot loosely enough. The music and ambiance for the scene is immaculate. Both actors are incredible.
I love the way that at 1st ,the soundtrack expresses the place's atmosphere, and suddenly changes to the characters atmosphere, than goes back to the party. First is the outside of the characters, than the inside and outside again. Just perfect and natural.
This Masterpiece of a movie is both a movie to be taken seriously, but also one of my so called "comfort movie"... I've seen it so many times and still can't get enough. This is such a Beautiful scene, especially the moment when their eyes lock and they finally realise their true feelings towards each other....!
Watched this movie with my boyfriend two days ago and we both thought it was a great movie! I found myself wanting to cry at a few scenes (especially the ending) Mads is such a fantastic actor and he's so handsome! 😍 This scene is really beautiful!
I had forgotten how nice it was to hear the clomp clomp of the heels on the wooden floor - it gave this scene such authenticity. Oh yes, and agree with all the other comments to date. Have seen every film but Vildspor and Monasvord (?) so can't wait for the next one.
Actually, the music is "Water Music Suite No.3 in G Major, HWV 350: V. Country Dance". The fifth in the suite. I really love that jolly woodwind thingy..
+Melys0412 -- Water Music is by the great Georg Friedrich Handel -- a clever German who adopted England as his own: this is indeed lovely dance music, & I love the way this scene is grand & intimate at the same time , thanks to the camerawork & the 'knowing' on the part of this beautiful couple 💔
Mads has great lightness in the feet as well. And he and his partner are so absolutely trained in the muscle memory to do this stuff. Makes such a difference to see dancing done by professionals. Not like English TV where Mr Darcy or whoever just goes hippity hop!
I have no interest in most historical reenactment, but I would definitely enjoy reenacting an 18th or early 19th c. ball like this. I think the style of dance looks so fun and flirtatious, and the dress is so splendid!
further to that scene - the slo mo reveals - every 360 degree turn shows Mads with a new expression - a sense that something emotional and out of his management is happening here - subtle. Mobile mind that Mads.
This whole scene makes my heart happy...it's a whole story told in facial expressions. I wish dancing were like that these days. Contra comes pretty close in America, but it isn't easy to find anymore.
Mari Christian Please, when you're praising a woman don't look down on another one at the same time. Natural beauty or unnatural beauty doesn't affect their acting.
Enchanting scene. Love the music and the dance. I wish though, there would have been some moments, where they showed the intire figure when they danced, and how they moved their feet. I especially would have liked to watch Mads Mikkelsens moves, since he is such an elegant dancer.
Final me deixou em prantos.Personagem forte, marcante,de poucos sorrisos e extremamente sedutor. Amo esse filme.🥰🥰🥰😍😍
I'm wondering if Mads had formal dance training when he was young. He carries himself very well; similar to that of a ballet dancer. BTW--he is just gorgeous here!
Omg this movie is great. He is so scary in James Bond, but so uberhot and charming in this movie. And she is soo beautiful, but also someone you would really like, not someone who is just hot and sexy. They look like they are both really kind people, besides being beautiful. This movie was so beautiful romantic, sexy, and so tragic as well.
I imagine Danish [and Swedish] is what English sounds like to non-English speakers. I've always wondered what I sound like to people who don't speak my language :P
A lovely scene. Like Jane Austen on steroids. :-b The translation, as best I can remember it, is: - Your majesty. - You recognized me. - I would recognize you blindfolded. - Your costume is not so very imaginative. - No, I've never been good at masquerades. - For me, it is the one time when people can be themselves. But you never let your mask down, do you? - Your majesty -- will you do me the honor?
I just realised: Mads and Alicia both were ballet dancers before they went on to acting! How amazing, that makes this scene even more amazing
flawless
Perfect pair
The way Mads looks at Alicia takes my breath away every time. And he's too handsome to be human... I mean, those cheekbones look like they belong on a marble statue of Adonis. So glad I randomly decided to watch this movie on Netflix, despite the depressing ending! Their love is so sublime
i second what you said about Mads
You said a mouthful. And those bedroom eyes.
@@mercedespernas oh dear lorddd

Right? I wonder if anyone has ever tried to slice bread on those cheekbones
Mads Mikkleson is a professionally trained dancer! He's probably "out of the way bitches, show you how it's done!"
hahahaha
Aw! I know they're actors, but Mads seems to be genuinely enjoying himself. You can see and feel his love for dance in this scene.
The funny thing is, Mads said in an interview that he really liked doing this scene.
@@tkraid2575
That makes sense, he loves dancing!
@@kirikakirikakirika He's actually a professionally trained dancer. He won a scholarship with Martha Graham in NY before he started his acting career.
I think he just naturally enjoys his life immensely, as one should, but so often don’t.
This scene is really well made. I love how he shows his mental processes going from okay flirting now... to OMG I'm in love with the King's wife!
The way he looks at her....and when he smiles... I started to cry because I realize that I miss someone that look at me that way... This scene is so emotional...
Alicia Vikander has danced with Mads Mikkelsen and married Michael Fassbander. What a lucky woman. 😄
What lucky men ...
And he had steamy scenes with Mads and Children in real life with Fassbender. Guuurl
If you were ever in doubt that this man did ballet…
alicia was trained in ballet as well
I love this scene! The chemistry between them is so mild, but still so intense and they move together so beautifully.
yes Mads mikkelsen.
Aris Vesel, he’s so handsome in this film.

makes the scene even hotter. thanks!
EkatTv the movie has the translation idk why this scene doesn't
EkatKh what is there to say when there's chemistry.
Thank you so much. I don’t understand why they don’t have English subtitle! This movie is bittersweet romance of love!
Destynee Paradise sure! If only men were this way know. And times were like this. There would be less lonely women.

OMG! Mads is a very very charm man. His actings are excellent. I just keep on focusing him. And I fall in love with him because this scene.♥
alicia vikander is stunning. her husky voice also adds a sultry quality to her.

Alicia was in ballet school for 9 years.. You can totally tell! She's so graceful!
This was one of the more amazing love stories I've ever seen on film, ever. Move over Jack and Rose....
I really love this film. Mads is perfect in it. Such a heartbreaking true story. Very well done.
I was just ready to stream this movie again just to see this scene. One of the truly great dance scene on film and surely the sexiest. Thanks so much.
When you get 2 ex-professional dancers who studied ballet and acting to do this 😍
Actually, the music is "Water Music Suite No.3 in G Major, HWV 350: V. Country Dance". The fifth in the suite. I really love that jolly woodwind thingy..
