damn cool video! I just bought an '87 Cabriolet and was planning on losing the front bumper too. I'm planning on creating a custom bumper for the rear. And i dig the headlights. I didn't think i would ever like that style at all but once we could see it all lit up, i totally changed my mind. my only complaint is that we didn't get to see the actual process involved with removing the bumpers. Like what was going on with the radiator? and... Pretty please, could we get a link for purchasing those headlights. and that Relay????
hey man... didn't see what brand lights these are..... also after taking my front bumper off I'v e decided to put driving lighst in the bumper mount holes... looks great, and available at Walmart ... and they fit perfectly...just an FYI

@@timmy622 I still need to get something to put in the hole myself. I originally wanted to get the insert and then hide a turn signal behind it like old American cars did behind their grills in the 60s.
It was mine I would get some Grill inserts or something like that to fill in the holes that the bumper was blocking but I thought it looks pretty good. Without the front bumper
Hey so all we need for this whole swap ( to go from square headlights to circle headlights ) are the fenders, the rad support (if we dont wanna cut things) the grille and the front bumper right ? Or just grille and headlight. Coming from a 1978 vw rabbit going onto a 1982 vw rabbit pickup.
I honestly don’t know whats involved in the swap, the convertibles like mine came factory with the round headlight front end so I never had to swap anything

How did you mount the headlights on? I'm not sure if yours is the same but I'm from south Africa and we have the citi golf and the outer headlight has 4 screws holding the bracket and with these jeep ones theres no bracket Any advice would be appreciated 🙏
As long as they say they fit a a 7” sealed beam headlight they will work. The exact same type of lights were used in many old Chevy trucks, miatas, and Jeep wranglers. The only difference you may run into would be the plug but every one I’ve seen uses the standard 3 prong that older cars used for the halogen sealed beams

Did you have to end up using the relay? I was just going to order a 7" Jeep headlight kit off amazon but don't know if I have to replace the relay, or just plug n' play?
Do you mean for the lights or for the turn signal? The lights and the drl halo are plug and play. The turn signal halo is technically plug and play but requires the led flasher to work properly

So I got the lights. The large plug fits easily and when I start the car, the three top lights come on, and the brights work, but not the halo's. These lights also come with a green and red just like yours, but I don't know what wires to connect into them. Being an older car, of course the wires don't match. It comes with a long cable with a fuse at the end that says it's for the DLR, but I noticed you didn't need that? I also can't find which fuse it would go into LOL. I was hoping I could get the signal and DLR wire colour from you and just try plugging it in to see what happens......not wire smart over here!

You mean the headlights? No they mount up using the same bracket the stock lights use

Or even which fuse this would go into? It says the ACC+, but my vw doesn't have that.
I actually found the DLR wire - Halos now work! It's the signal one I still can't find :(
How does the drl stay on? I have a Mk1 citi golf but I don't have a park light I think
I got rid of my bumper which housed my turn signal lamps so I just plugged the halos into the factory turn signal harness and they work great
