I'll maybe have to release a music album sometime ;) Some of those potatoes are from a few years ago I'm sure. The red onions are really good looking aren't they, shouldn't really peel the skin off but can't help myself sometimes they are so vibrant!
@@catsmother4556 definitely, some of these are better than the ones I actually planted from seed potatoes, why not take advantage of nature doing it's thing.
@@RichardAStonemasonNOTfreemason I sometimes try for summer planting for Christmas time but never really works out, think I'll give it another go though, why not. Cheers
Excellent haul of potatoes Dave, I sow later too but I keep them in the poly tunnel when it gets too wet and cold. Good to see you have some sunshine, happy growing, Ali 🌞🇨🇦
@@myrustygarden yes we have some sunshine finally! I keep meaning to get smarter with my potatoes, like maybe grow them in moveable pots or earth them up more but never seem to find the time. Hope weather is better for you too. Cheers
@@trottiscliffe I used to do that a lot more in previous years come to think of it, maybe I'm getting lazy in my old age or spoilt with too many potatoes. Maybe I should try and be less wasteful once more. Thanks for the reminder. Cheers
Interesting and unexpected potato experiment this year with burying the older potatoes. Some are a decent size and the smaller ones are great just boiled with some butter and chop up your fabulous onions to mix in. 7:32 - I need that song on repeat when I dig out my potatoes, then head bang, dig, then head bang!
@@TheGeek365 I had so many rejects last year I had to do something with them, definitely will try again. That was fun 😁 potato hunt....there was quite alot in that haul. I was told once not to leave spuds in the ground as it can bring diease , that's why i dig every last one out. But think now i might just leave a few . Last year i had a great harvest but rats eat there way into my garage, destroyed the lot 😔. This year i'll eat the lot before they get them😉. I'm in awe of your onions, there amazing! And the Verbena 😍man that's just stunning....verbena is in my top 5 fav's. There's alot of work to keep all those beds weed free, do you get any weeds? your beds always look so clean! All i seem to do is be on my hands and knees weeding🤣 Cheers Dave, thanks for another great vid.
I think there is always the chance of disease but I've never had any problems, and I always plant new seed potatoes too. Sorry to hear about your rats, I lost all my saved sunflower seeds one year, its annoying isn't it. The onions always seem to do well, can't wait to harvest them, prize winning at last years local show too, I've got a certificate and everything! It is a lot of work, perhaps too much work to be honest, once your on top of it its OK, but leave it for a couple of weeks and there is a lot of catching up to do. Cheers and thanks for watching!
Hi Dave, firstly what is the purple tall flower at the beginning of the video. It's lovely. The allotment is coming along nicely now. Hope the weather holds up for you. Lovely raspberries too. From nz.
It's verbena bonariensis, a great backdrop to start the video with. The weather looks to be good for the next few days, after that, who knows. Slow start to the year but I'm getting there! Cheers and thanks for the comments
Give it a go - see what happens, hopefully they sit there all through winter under the soil and crop up in spring, you just need to remember where you put them! Don't worry I'll let you know when my debut album is released ;)
I have to say the potatoes 🥔 digging music is boss. Like the idea of multi-year potato cache. The electric onion... gorgeous.

Nice hall of free potatoes. At least for me it feels that way. I love free spuds. 🥔🥔🥔

Hey Dave. Tasty looking haul. Is there time to get another batch planted now?
Great looking onions too.

I love a bonus spud! Great video as always Dave. 😊
Can't beat them for free! Thanks for watching, a great video is nothing if no-one watches them so appreciate the support. Cheers
Interesting idea........😊 Jim
I normally get a few potato plants springing up each year, sometimes they do better than my actual seed potatoes ;)

Just cut out the green, and with forked ones, peel cut out damaged area and make mash.

I always sow lots in about early November, most appear in Spring!
I've tried late summer sowings before but frost always gets them or they don't come up, maybe I'll try November too - thanks for the tip
@@DigDaveDig red ones are best as the skins are thicker but if you put them deep enough they might avoid the frosts.
