Hello guys. Just today, i have decided to take this path in my career.. I came from a background of a Service Manager, main focus is dealing with Major Incidents and engaging resources and managing the situation (call) in order to work with engineers in a quick solution. I believe SRE fits my role as things are moving to the new Cloud environment. I am looking for guidance, a mentor and a hand to walk me through this new career path i am taking.
DevOps is not mandated, sure, but when nobody converges on what they mean by DevOps, the term loses any kind of meaning. DevOps is a methodology which first and foremost aim is to break the wall between dev and ops. 99% of the companies that say they're practicing DevOps don't do that. It's just a rebranded sysadmin role with shiny tools.
