  • Fender Jaguar 1965 Vintage Guitar in Sunburst in my Luthier Workshop.
This amazing Instrument was played a lot worldwide by a famous musician and a great Band back in the days. After an inspection I decided to replace the totally worn out frets. This Guitar was refreted uncountable times and the Brazilian Rosewood Fretboard is thinner than 2 mm in some areas. After noticing that the Truss Rod is also not working well I decided to remove the Fretboard, to change the broken Truss rod and glue on a new Rosewood Fingerboard before installing the new frets. This become such a time consuming process that I will release several Videos of this Repair process.
This repair turned out into a restoration of this vintage beauty.
    Enjoy the first Episode.

Sometimes guitar repair is about making difficult decisions. Sure, the fretboard is a type of wood you can't get anymore, but this guitar was meant to be played, and the truss rod prevented that.

The only part of the truss rod cap'thats ever been walnut is only on the newer models that have the other kind of truss rod where the truss rod nut is at the headstock. They use a walnut plug to cover it up. They never used walnut in the older models that had the truss rod nut at the bottom of the neck, where you had to take the neck off to adjust the truss rod

The whole segment of getting the truss rod layer of wood over the top was painful to watch. You had the heat, all you had to do was hit the handle of that long tool. Prying upward isnt gunna do it, just snap the wood plank.the end of the tool is on top of the truss rod already so no damage there. You have an understanding of many methods of manipulating wood;prying, different levels of force needed. Just seemed so obvious and you where grunting trying to pry upward when you just needed to hot the handle with a mallet, as if it where a chisel. Cmon now
