Dean's tremolo picking looks so efficient it's insane
"MY WIFE TEACHES ME GOTH METAL..."
Me: "Oh hell yeah, Type O-Negati--"
Claire: "Do you Like Cradle of Filth?"
Me: "...Ah."
:D :D :D :D
Same, I was looking to hear some good old Type O Negative, Paradise Lost, early Katatonia, Tiamat etc.
for type o she'd have had to do the bass riffs on an electric ukelele to get the size right.
@@akarshshekhar5233 same
You sounded like a husband getting a shitty gift from.his wife for Christmas
"....ah....socks....again...thanks hun"
Lol
Clairs a metal head she always feeling it. Dean is like some weird jazz guy.
She's the fun one. Haha
4:36 that lick was way too earnest. Dean is a closeted blues daddy 100%.
Esti 🤣
it's the beginning of the Mr- Crowley solo :D
For real!
It's cemetary gates
I love how Dean has to read the Manscaped ad scripts lol.
Billie Eilish of CHAOS.

So hey, you wanna hear something funny? I was today year's old when I discovered Archspire specifically because of your videos with Claire. And holy fucking shit, it's been a while since I cared about technical death metal, but Bleed the Future got me hyped.
10:30-10:50
He honestly explaines here why i'm having way more fun listening to "Midian" than to any Archspire record.
I love how much Dean hates blues soloing 😂🤣🤘🏻👍🏻
He really really does 😆
I cantz notz playz fastz
Sad that there was no "Beneath the Howling Stars". That riff (you know which one) is an absolute classic!
My favourite 4 cradle of filth songs would be, Cruelty Brought The Orchids, Funeral in Carpathia, Haunted Shores and Nocturnal Supremacy.
Add in there Queen of Winter, Throned. Just to make it a top 5.
Their best guitarist was Stuart Anstis 1995-1999. He died August 21, 2022.
I would kill for a 4LoDM Nile Edition. Some extremely challenging riffs in pretty much every song . Love the channel!
I second this!
I've been listening to Nile a lot recently and I also thought it would be cool on this channel.
Nile is honestly one of the most underrated OGs of death metal. Purists can't get past the ancient Egyptian theme but I feel that's what allowed them to have some of the most iconic riffs.
@@FutilityOfReason because of statements like this i'm trying to "get into them" for like 10 years or so, owning 3 albums...still not clicking. Although their newest is their best imo.
@@FutilityOfReason any recs of these iconic riffs? I remember i used to hate them for some reason but rechecked them out in recent years and was able to appreciate what they've done which was pretty cool
@@CarloTheImmortal Their album "Amongst the Catacombs" front to back is a must, but if I had to choose 2 songs from that album then 1: Smashing the Antiu, and 2: Serpent Headed Mask.
From their album "Black Seeds of Vengeance" - 1: Masturbating the War God, and 2: Chapter for Transforming into a Snake
These are my personal favorites, but everyone's palate is different.
I listen to a bunch of comedy podcasts, but Dean is literally the only person to ever make a manscaped ad funny.
cruelty and the beast is the masterpiece for cradle. thirteen autumns should have been a shoe-in
Always liked cradle of filth. I remember it being o e of the first bands I saw metal heads attacking along with Metallica. Honestly sad how much metal heads hate metal. There's still so much division and gate keeping ironically in a time with the most variety in metal. Anyway, great video. 🤘💜
Dude, that Babalon AD is one of my favourite riffs ever! When you said, you were doing COF riffs, I was bummed out, because I figured you would NEVER look at that riff and then it was level four and I was very happy. Nice!
I was one of those snobs that thought CoF were too mainstream to be good. A couple of years ago I heard a few songs of theirs and was so mad at myself for not giving them the chance. There's some pretty good stuff there.
Always had a soft spot for Cradle. They are really good at setting a tone/theme for an album/song. Danni is a really, really good lyric writer too. Although I tend to be a Midian era "fan" I'd say they've been pretty consistent.
Midian is by far the best album that and damnation and a day. Two of the best metal albums ever.
For your vulgar delectation, Hallowed be thy name, tragic kingdom, and from the cradle to enslave are my personal favorites.
Type O Negative?
i expected type o not cof, but nice either way
Claine's tattoos are so cool, I'm in love
To each their own I guess, it's edgy metal and I'm an edgy guy. Some people like the fancy dead metal, cheesey metal, powertrip metal, trash metal, black coffee metal, nuwave metal, etc.
Old COF is awesome. Kinda grew away from them but still a great band
The latest stuff is actually ripping pretty hard like the old days... Dani got his shriek back.
what i love about cradle is dani's lyrics. their grotesquely beautiful.
Cradle of Filth’s best album by far for me is Midian. The song “Lord Abortion” is sooo good. First Cradle of Filth song I learned on guitar. The lyrics to that song are savage.
its Dusk but a country mile.
I prefer 'V Empire', 'Dusk...' and 'Cruelty...'; but, yep, the lyrics to 'Lord Abortion' are fucked up!
@@brennuvargr4638 V Empire #1, Cruelty #2, Dusk #3, Principle #4. Then the rest is just gloss.
I started jamming with a guy that played a lot of children of b. I showed him as blood runs black and he thought it was a drum machine. He didn't even know how to react to archapire lol.
Let me guess, My Fears Have Become Phobias? Everyone thinks that shit was programmed but he actually did that shit on record, just triggered like a mf 🤣
To be fair, everything was so triggered and sampled it basically was lol
As blood runs black is trigger happy my dude😂
Oh you mean "the band that shall not be named" ...for centuries and centuries
What do you expect? Your average Children of Boredom fan is not ready for Archspire hahaha
Clairs tremolo picking is solid in this video. Also, as a fan of Blues and classic rock I'm sad Dean's not a fan. Granted I also listen to a heavy dose of metal, I've just mellowed out as I've gotten older and enjoy bands like the Scorpions and Foreigner. You guys playing CoF takes me back to my teen years. My friends were really getting into black metal at the time and I remember my one friend showing me Cradle of Filth. I wasn't the biggest fan but they had some decent riffs. I never fully got into black metal. I was much more into Death at the time. Chuck Shuldiner was an absolute beast.
Nymphetamine rocks, so many good riffs on that album.
"Damnation And A Day", the album with "Babalon A.D." on it, has the best guitar work IMO out of everything they've put out. So much detail and layering, killer tones etc, lots of ear candy.
That album is fantastic. Such great production. So glad for the madness
Serpent tongue is my favorite Song on that album.
It is great indeed but I'm not sure I would put it over Hammer Of The Witches.
@@reav3rtm Hard to compare though. They're both CoF albums but with very different line-ups at very different points in time. But both are great for what they are though.
Damnation and a Day is so underrated and so amazing.
I remember when a friend ages ago introduced me to Cradle of Filth, I think it was around the time I started listen to metal.
I just laughed and the noice Dani made and wondered how anyone could like it.
Well, I found out later when I did become a fan. I still laugh at the noices Dani make when I hear them live but on album they are awesome.
"Damnation and a day" was my album. 'Mannequin' in particular
Midian era was the best era of CoF IMO. Cthulhu Dawn was a freaking banger.
Agreed, great album
My 3 year old son loves Cradle of filth. He calls them the vampires.
"I liked Her Ghost in the Fog when I was 14 years old." And then I immediately felt old. The most recent Cradle of Filth album out at the time when I was 14 was The Principle of Evil made Flesh.
You and Claire doing black metal together frosts my heart. Love it, please do more!
Gotta love the self advertisement in this vid! Claire and that strategically placed poster are matching! Lol.
Thank you for sharing
There's footage of Mikael Akerfeldt singing at a festival with Bloodbath and he asks the crowd to scream for him, "no no, higher, like Dani Filth!"
YORU BEST THUMBNAIL YET GREAT JOB
Claire "I think these are objectively good."
Dean's "Sure" with the eye roll almost made me spit out my drink.
Sure, it sounds cleaner when he plays it.... but it sounds COOLER when she plays it
n/
Claire has such an awesome meaty throaty guitar tone I love it so much
Damnation and a day turned me into a cradle fan soooo good! Midian! Cruelty and the beast! Vempire ep dusk all so good!
Should have been some riffs off "Cruelty and the Beast"
I can’t believe they decided to separate on this video, don’t worry man, we will always love you
Reaching from a poisoned bag sounds like a Cradle of Filth song
The intro to Amor e Morte would have been a great riff to showcase
Dean needs to wear a collar too
Their newish material is way harder and I think Dean would love it
Y'all never fail to deliver the LOLz! And great to see Claine's full sleeve tats. 🤘🏻
shes like a grown up billie eilish 😄
Always a pleasure to be welcomed back into our apartment
You are great together!
COF is great I love the variety of vocals, different arrangements and symphonic/orchestral/operatic vocals that you just don't expect, they're uncommon, they're creative and full of emotion and tripness.
My favorite albums by them might be Cruelty and The Beast (closest to classic SymphoBlack sound), Midian (most dinamic I guess), Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder and Hammer of the Witches (interesting vocals on these two). And their last album was pretty good too.
Their other albums are also pretty good too, but these are the ones that stuck with me the most.
Under all the theatrical and symphonic stuff, at their best they're just a killer metal band. Their line up has changed a million times so the albums vary, but I would recommend Cruelty and The Beast -- just make sure you listen to the newly remastered version because the original had no low end and the drums sounded so bad that their legendary original drummer left the band. (Nicolas Barker - best metal drummer alive imo. He played on two of the best Dimmu albums, and a bunch of other good stuff.)
Before Midian dropped, Cradle had already been around and enjoyed a scoffable reputation among death metal elitists such as myself. But once Midian dropped some of us had to admit there were a few killer riffs in there. Also, that guitar tone was kinda nice. Is it me or is there a little Marshall Valvestate-like scoop on that?
This is exactly what I wanted I was thinking of learning some Cradle riffs
that thumbnail's epic
They started with one of my favourites (Honey & Sulphur).
5 Levels of Conducting from the Grave
This really hits that 10th grade nostalgia for me. Have you ever thought about getting Misha, Jake, or Mark from Periphery to do a "four levels" with you guys. I think any of them would bring the humor and/or technical prowess you are looking for. Anyway, fucking love you both...keep it up!
I always felt like COF weren't a "guitar" band. Like, you need the whole thing together. I reckon trying to do some of the heavier stuff off "Roadrunner United" would be a good episode. Some tricky riffs on that album imo.
If you don’t make a shirt that says “it’s a bag full of poison, don’t put your hand in it” your missing out! Lmao!!
Cradle of filth damn this hits me in the nostalgia.
Claire looks like she's into goth metal lol 🤣 she fucking slays guitar though
New to the channel, but I like the Vault Boy in the background... didnt expect that. Im definitely in the same boat with never taking CoF seriously.. but some of these riffs are pretty cool.
Cradle of Filths Thornography album is so wet. I’m gonna go listen right now
English Fire is probably my favorite song by them 🔥So sick
Dean is like 20 levels up from where I am. I’m at the level where I’m sitting there and bitching when my friend trys to get me to play a Korn riff, when what I’m really into is just slightly more complex dumb-guy thrash metal
Came for controversial title, stayed for Cradle of Filth.
Who would win in Lamb vs Lamp???
I love lamp
Was hoping for Crawling King Chaos from the newest album, Existence is Futile. It's quite challenging and super fun to play!
Claire’s taste is on top
Holy shit, her ink is diggidy dope!
GREAT song choices from cradle
Dean I feel like you might like their first album or maybe the total fucking darkness demo (which is acutally more blackened death metal). Back then it was more guitars and less orchestra (that became bigger with dusk onwards).
Was waiting for Guilded C@#t. Great song with a lot of awesome riffs.
hell yeah dude thanks for letting me know that it's smooth sack summer
Got give bands a chance. I gave a band that had cringey vocal solos a chance - and Archspire really isn't all that bad
anything after Cruelty and the Beast has been pretty weak. That was the best line up Cradle ever had.
Love CoF . Queen of Winter Throned is one of the greatest metal songs ever. There iI said it.
I dunno I just really like this channel. You two are just enjoyable to watch. But like what's up with the new good morning handsome?
I never understood what goth metal was aside from the imagery of gth itself. Is it the sound, or is it lyrics specifically, or what? I listened to Type 0 Negative and Ascension of the Watchers and T0N was just doom and AotW was just rock. Claire says Cradle of Filth and I'm thinking "Aren't they black metal?" I heard their most recent album.
Her tattoos are awesome brutal🤟🏻💪🏻
Babylon ad was such a great song when i was a youngin
i remembered going to a music store when I was 13 and had to choose between CoF and Deicide. I picked the former's nymphetamine. My inner snob never came to terms with that fact til today...
Babylon A.D was one of my first riffs ever learned lol
Cthulhu Dawn has very easy riffs except that goddamn hammer-on at the beginning of the song and after the first chorus… I still remember trying to learn the entire song, that part was an extreme bitch 😅
Saying Cradle of Filth is cheesy is a bit "stating the obvious". That's pretty much the whole point. They take the cheesiness of old Hammer horror movies or 80s b-movies and run with it... and they do that _really_ well, I'd say.
Awesome per usual! Waiting for Wes Hauch of Alluvial! Or Jason Richardson...OR Vildhjarta!
Cradle of Filth is really hit or miss. Their first four albums are my favorites and their more recent albums are just ok with me.
i was hoping nemsis would be in this love that song
Vaggazaled wow. I love these guys and their riffs. Pretty good song selection. Main riff of Honey and sulphur should’ve been. I do love that part I spice it up with extra notes from the black metal chords.
Cradle fuckin ROCKS dude
You know what they say, if you feel old, you're old.✌️😎
I didn't care much for CoF past From the Cradle to Enslave EP, Midian was kinda meh, but their return to form was Godspeed on the Devils Thunder. Nothing will ever get better than Cruelty and the Beast though, I listened to this album every day for months in the late 90s.
Her Ghost In The Fog is actually a top 5 CoF song!
Time to listen to the old COF songs again. Well, and the new ones too while I'm at it, but for those I don't have fond memories yet :-)
No no, I don't COF....I play 8 string guitars, hmmmpptt! (Pretentious a hole)
I mean... cradle has some insane riffs that i think would put Dean really to the test. That being said, it wouldn't really work if claire couldn't pull it off as well xD
I like how y’all drop f bombs constantly but draw the line at C U Next Tuesday
