Grove is the citrusy sequel to the award winning Orchard 9 card solitaire game.
Its 18 cards feature orange, lemon and lime trees and a new 'wild card' element, glades. These open spaces without trees, combined with a new scoring mechanic, offer more ways and opportunities to increase your harvest and create a greater variety of gameplay and strategies compared to Orchard.
You'll also find a cheeky squirrrel, who can either help or hinder your fruit picking, as well as a wheelbarrow - useful if you manage to get an extra large haul.
The card backs feature recipe challenges with various scoring conditions and target scores. These provide a win/lose condition (as an alternative to the standard game's ‘beat your score’) for those that prefer it - and add even more variety to the game.

5.0 - My absolutely favorite games. You can pry them out of my cold dead hands.
4.5 - Love this game! At the same time missing something that would make it a 5. Could be hard to table, lacking variability, a little light, etc.
4.0 - Really great game, almost always keeping, although has meaningful complaints as to what takes away from the experience.
3.5 - Really enjoyed, don't love it, may lose out to better games but the idea of never playing again is a bit sad.
3.0 - A good game, would play and suggest with the right people, if I never played it again wouldn't lose any sleep.
2.5 - A game I'd play again , but will never suggest it myself
    2.0 - A game I don't want to play again
    1.5 - A game I can't find any reason to recommend
1.0 - A game that is just bad.

Love the game. With this and Orchard though - I'm not sure if there is enough if a difference to necessarily keep them both... Except of course it is worth having both because of the space they take, and that you can keep them in different rooms so you always have one handy.

Thanks for sharing a closer look at Grove. I was always curious.

Thank you for the review, Alex! Tough game. In a play, I managed to get a 15 point wheelbarrow and a 10 point die, plus a bunch of fours. I used the squirrel to accomplish such a feat and felt pretty good. But the subtraction of points was enough to demote me from being 'simply the zest'. I don't always want to play it, but it is a nice simple puzzly filler game to pass the time. Plus it is very easy to set up and a really small box, so it takes almost no shelf space. :)

Are You able to lay just a corner on a card or does it have to be the full side?

I really enjoy playing Orchard once in a while. It requires few minutes to be played, so it's perfect when I've got just a short break (even if it' so easy and quick that one game leads to another and I find myself playing way more than I had time for... 😅).
Looking forward to this sequel! 🍋

I recently got Grove in from KS. I quite like it I never got Orchard other than the PnP. I do like the challanges. Makes it feel a bit like buttonshy, 18 card game.

Ive Print this game with the PnP version and it was pretty cool. It got kind of boring after a while, but I could see myself wanting to buy a "real" version for when we go camping or something. It oesn,t take much space and can be played pretty much anywhere.

Yet no mention of Orchard, the game that if didn't exist then Gove wouldn't have been developed, interested? 😅
Well at least the other 2 similar game were worth comparison.
